Side skirts for BRZ

8 Attachment(s)
I am looking for whole body kit for my BRZ (lightning red) for a long time.
It is very difficult for me to make decision that the side skirts part
should choose “bottom line” or “ step like” looks better.
Sometimes I feel that step like looks better, because it looks more aggressive, but sometimes I feel that the step like looks heavy and close to transformer.
Conversely, the bottom like looks nice and clean for me, but sometime I feel that it is too minor to the out looking.
How do you think? What’s your suggestion for side skirts to make my or your BRZ look better?
Here are some examples.
Type 1 (step like)
Pic1: TRD
Pic2: OEM Toyota 86
Pic 3: C-West
Type 2 (Bottom line)
Pic4: Chargespeed
Pic 5: Downforce
Pic 6: APR Performance
Type 3: I am not sure how to define this kind. It looks like in between which is a “L” shape.
Pic 7: STI
Pic8: Zele
Thanks

I really like the C-West side skirt. It makes the car look a lot stronger, but C-West's front lip isn't too great. What are you choosing for the front and rear?

The APR looks nice too though.

I prefer the material using PU or PP or ABS and prefer not to use FRP or wet carbon fiber, because it is more flexible without crack so easily.

Ideally, it might be better to buy whole body kits (front lip, side skirts and rear spats) from the same brand. It might can match better.

It might do not have too many options from my requirement above. I only know the option as below.

1. STI ( they might release the rear spats latter)
http://www.sti.jp/parts/catalogue/brz_zc6/index.html

2. HT Auto (they might release side skirts latter)
http://subarukits.com/shop_summary.html

3. Bayson R (not sure about rear spats)
http://www.baysonr.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=BRZ&Search.x=0&Search.y=0

4. C-West
http://www.c-west.co.jp/aero/brz/index.asp

5. MV designz (They might release BRZ whole body kids in PU next spring)
http://mvdesignz.net/

Thanks.

Any more suggestion?
Thanks.

Hi @cslntuee, if I had to pick side skirts only I would go with TRD. They are, by far, my favorite side skirts and work perfectly with the lines of the car making it look classy and sporty but not ricey. I like what @nsx_guy has done with his:

(My car has STI sides only because it worked better for my black/blue STI scheme and I did not want to deal with repainting pieces WRB).

Along the lines of TRD...I myself want the Euro/Aero/Nur sideskirts. I think that's #2 in your original post.

It looks like that Nur spec is very different to get in US.
I did not find any vender. (Carson post at beginning, but not update.)
I guess the price will higher than TRD.
Thanks.

In the end the choice is yours, but a good thing to keep in mind is how the side skirt matches the rest of your exterior modifications - both front and back. If you're going with a simple black lower lip with small rear spats, then your "type 2" and possibly "type 3" would be a better choice.

If you're go for a more aggressive bolt-on front and rear lip, then a "type 1" side skirt would more ideally connect the exterior lines for a better front to rear transition. However, these are more likely to seem "tacked-on" and also tend to be on the expensive side.

So perhaps now a good question to ask is: what do you have planned for the front and rear of the car?

Agreed. Once I throw the STI lip on, the front will look "heavier" than the rest of the car. I think the Nur Spec/Aero/Euro sides with their own rear spats will be suitable since that's not so much mix and match.

After carefully looking, I notice there is one black bottom in the center of the rear part which will not fit with my OEM diffuser. ><
Thanks.

Thanks.

Skipping the OEM diffuser myself and getting a custom made unit. Honestly I'm not sure what out there will match the kind of matte look of my STI lip...hence the desire to go with something body color. It will pull down the sides of the car, but not too obviously.

I'm going down this same path. I have decided to eliminate anything that has a "step", I just don't like any of them I've seen on a Red.

Still debating on the Type 2 vs Type 3 but leaning heavily towards the 2 because I would be comfortable buying it from a photo. I would need to see a 3 in person.

I agree. Anything with a step looks like a kit car and screams "cheap".

Look in my build if you want a simple effective ground effects kit (ht auto front/rear, bayson sides). It looks nice, oem in my opinion. I have a SWP and I didnt want to have to attach body pieces due to I think it can look cheap it not done right (making sure it fits exactly, normally have to shape and mold some), as well as matching SWP seems to be a issue from what I have seen. I hope this helps you.

Thanks all your suggestions.
Finally, I plan to choose Bayson R (front lip) with Bayson R STI badge from Ebay+ TRD side skirts+ Chargespeed (rear spats).
I have some questions related to the color code that I should paint (or tell the body shop) on the bottom line of the TRD side skirt (black part) and Chargespeed FRP rear spat which can color match the PU Bayson R PU front lip.
I also post here.

Please give me some suggestions again.
Thanks a lot.

I personally like the STi side skirt.

yourboyvic 04-08-2017 02:18 AM

I couldn't find a better thread to post this and it wasn't my intention to revive an old post but I wanted to do this here first instead of create unnecessary posts because this post is 'close'.

My plan is to mix and match from three different kits to one car, namely:

damd lft 86 front bumper

http://damd.co.jp/test/products/imag...ft-86front.jpg

cwest side skirts

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...2&d=1371761911

cwest fenders

https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...1A-FFCCF_1.jpg

noblesse rear bumper with center exit exhaust

http://i62.tinypic.com/2r43g3c.jpg

is there typically enough data to make sure the bottom lines (height from the ground) will all be the same height/space from the ground in relation to each other even though they are different kits?

I've been looking high and low and I can't seem to be sure before I order that the ground lines will all match together.

If I order and put them on and they're all different heights from the ground I don't know what I'll do

thanks for all your patience and understanding and assistance in advance!

Have you thought about getting the STI kit and have all bar the ledge painted body color? This would be for the side skirts and rear spats.

Thanks for your reply. I've been considering your suggestion and have decided I'm going with your idea. Thank you.

FYI it'll be the STI side skirts. Just because the noblesse rear bumper I'll be using is not the stock bumper I'm going to try the WRX rear spats at subispeed, should be a better fit. I'll leave them black, if I decide I want them to match I'll have them wrapped. Painting parts is a thing I can't undo if I decide to sell them down the line.

My body kit dilemma has been solved for now, my thanks to the community but esp Mim!

Most welcome! I'm considering it for my own BRZ down the line but a CWP color.

yourboyvic 04-27-2017 12:27 AM

if anyone is interested in knowing if sti rear spats will fit on the nobelesse rear bumper my money says 'yes'

https://d17kynu4zpq5hy.cloudfront.ne...AjyCyEi.medium

the above bumper is the stock bumper

according to the rear spat install manual pdf here...

https://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/77...r2013MYBRZ.pdf

the sti rear spats should install here...

without too much muss and fuss, what do you think?
