More people need to recognize this petition to realize what amazing cars could be imported if reduced from 25 to 15.

I was very close to buying a 3.2L NSX but went with a new S2000 instead (mostly because I was willing to deal with the S2000 tax over the NSX tax and I didn't want to spend 2 days doing a timing belt :P ). |
Signed,
I want an r32... |
I have been sending petitions and letters to white house for years to no avail. I did sign this petition.
25 year importation rule is deplorable, despicable, redundant, business oriented and heavily biased. There is no reasoning behind logic of this law. Not a single one. According to importation rule a car such as 1994-1999 celica gt-4 is illegal on US soil, that it does not comply with national transportation and highway safety administration, nor department of transportation and it remains so for 24 years, 364 days 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds and yet 1 whole second later car will require absolutely no crash testing and will miraculously become street legal AS IS. And here is another kicker... Canada having their 15 year rule... a resident of Canada can legally drive his or her illegal in USA vehicle on US soil on vacation or business visit or when passing by to mexico and yet USA residents are not allowed to own those cars. |
I wish this could be done but it seems pretty low on the priority list in Washington. I guess the R32 skyline will be available in about 3 years though.

15k more signings to go..

RHD can be annoying in regular driving (speaking from experience). |

And I agree, I would never want a RHD DD, but a car that sees occasional track time and weekend cruising.. wouldn't matter to me as much then. I know a number of guys who have RHD cars for their track cars and none of them have any issue once they get used to it.. definately having to drive it daily would suck. It's not worth converting it to LHD though on a limited production car :P |
