Got it from Luis from Carson Toyota. It was $1645 before tax. (Yes, it is a lot to pay for for an axle back exhaust hehe)

Cant resist.. it will look nice :)

Hey Brian, let me help you out here...

Kochinopride 11-20-2012 03:30 PM

BASTARDS! :(

MTCRX 11-20-2012 03:34 PM

Very nice, I am jealous. You can get the garnish to cover the cutouts needed to make them fit. Anyone have any idea if these will be more easily available in the US anytime soon. I have to decide on a catback by January and was hoping this would be more affordable and available by then. Be sure to post a video with sound clip once you have these on.

Yes, you need new rear exhaust area diffuser. That dual tips won't fit

Can't wait to see how it'll come out! ...waiting for more photos :)

damn thats a price of a whole header back!

sf86 11-20-2012 04:13 PM

congrat! I cant afford that much just for an axle back exhaust :(

Superhatch 11-20-2012 04:19 PM

I know everyone is talking about price...but 20 years from now an FRS with TRD parts will be in a class by themselves.

Think about finding an AE86 with TRD parts? Or a 91 Civic with Mugen parts? Pure gold. Now it was also harder to get those parts back then, but now money is that divider not availability.

Finally somebody who understands what I am trying to accomplish :)

A little addition though.. these has to be JDM TRD parts, not USA TRD parts hehe :)

Brian

Here is a before after picture..

quite striking I must say :)

Skurj 11-21-2012 05:03 PM

ouch thats a steep price... but... i gots to have... the TRD offered up here has ugly tips, and I'd prefer quad tips.

Its either that or the borla..

brianlo622 11-21-2012 05:09 PM

lol the TRD USA exhaust probably makes more hp than the JDM TRD exhaust.. the JDM one is only axleback with no midpipe upgrade :)

But yes, I didn't buy this strictly for hp increase hehe.. the bodykit and the exhaust needs to work with each other imo.

No idea what it sounds like yet.. that installed pic was sent by the person who installed it while I am at work.. I'll post some videos when I get her back.

86 FRS 11-21-2012 06:30 PM

congratss! looking good. i really need to see this in person lol. but ddnt expect the jdm trd exhaust is just an axleback with that price :eyebulge:

20valvewynn83 11-21-2012 06:45 PM

youcantseeme24 11-21-2012 06:57 PM

Lol modding is a hobby.. If I got a lets say 1m or m3 I would want to put a bunch of Hamann or AC parts on it.. Or a Porsche with techart or RUF parts which is way out of what I could afford :)

Following a factory tuning program is what I have always wanted to do :)

I could be wrong about the 4 tip but I know the dealerships can get a TRD exhaust now. I would have to check when I get back to work

I was gonna ask if you overnighted the parts from Japan, but then I saw you got it from the states. :)

I know more than 1 local FR-S owner which is going for an all-out TRD build that might want this even at the $1695+ price. It may not seem valid to you, but to someone who is going for a particular look or theme to their car, this might make sense to them if they have money to burn. It will probably sound good when paired with a midpipe and other exhaust parts. (TBH, kind of poor taste to call someone out for being able to afford really nice mods like a high end xleback, but I respect your opinion.)

That said, I went with the SRT/Nameless for my BRZ and ended up getting a headerback exhaust for well under that price.

I didn't like the look of quad exhausts for this car until I saw that TRD, though...needs bigger tips imo :D

Yo Brian! How are you liking your exhaust? I remember you saying you were gonna get the exhaust back in November, but I didn't see an update on your thread "I'm getting my trd kit installed!" Then I found this lol. Anyways, it looks great man, keep up the good work! Also, have you justified dropping 10k on those brakes yet?? Hahah kidding.

Thanks! Loving the exhaust so far.. definitely not a power adder but it sounds awesome under load.. not raspy at all and it just looks so complete with the TRD rear apron hehe.

Regarding the TRD brakes.. hehe I think both Carson and Nigel list them at closer to 11k :( I have been following an Austrailian/New Zealand thread and they can get the brakes for 8.5k.. If I can save that much I'll consider it, but if not I guess I will just have to do without them :)

The next few items I am putting on my car wont be TRD at all.. they will mainly be suspension and wheels and my sound system.. after all that and when more funds clear up, I will get the small items such as the strut bar, the oil/gas caps, the shift knob, etc etc :) Stay tuned!

Brian

Honestly, that TRD rear bumper w/ the Five:AD kit and have Nameless build a custom QuadTipped axelback exhaust using the what... 4" tips? that would be complete sex!

Also Brian, where did you get the rear bumper? did it come with the exhaust? I am assuming it was purchased seperate.

That is a genuine TRD rear apron. It attaches to the stock bumper but requires enlarging the exhaust openings :)

goke186 12-05-2012 12:03 AM

alright, thanks :)

its_the_biz 03-11-2013 07:44 AM

one of very few or if any guys i found on here with the trd exhaust. think you can post sound clips? it'd help with my purchasing decisions. thanks

Turdinator 03-11-2013 08:11 AM

Is the piping any larger in dia than the stock muffler?

Verge 03-11-2013 01:52 PM

any gains on this exhaust? how about sound? i cant seem to find a good video of sound

brianlo622 03-12-2013 04:33 PM

I'll try to take some sound clips tonight, but it is very mellow. Afterall, it is just an axleback =)
