Knightmare's '13 DGM MT BRZ

This is my first journal that i've done, it will be a way for me to track what i've done to the car and share with everyone! I do plan on some subtle mods, suspension and simple bolt on's for now. I got clear bra put on the entire front end, front quarter panels & both side mirrors from the dealer.

Well here are some pictures of the BRZ next to my STI which i traded in for the car. I bought this car from Mark Miller Subaru in Salt Lake City Utah, yesterday 19 Nov. I went through a salesmen by the name of Doug. I can't say enough about the guy! He was easy to deal with and hassle free. He was also sure to inform me of the entire process and made sure i knew all angles. He went out of his way to call my local DMV as well to make sure we did the taxes right since i bought from out of state. When i was wanting to get the clear bra put on before i went to look at the car he warned me that it would be out of my pocket if i backed out of the deal. He would have put it on still if i wanted but was wanting to warn me. Good guy, he could've shafted me into a corner and pushed that i get it put on early. Their finance guy, Keith, was also a great pleasure to deal with! All around good buying experience. I only wish i would've sold my car locally instead of a trade, didn't get as much as i wanted but that's always the case when trading into the dealer. Still can't recomend them enough!

My mods will come slow and steady for me, mostly due to funding and just wanting to enjoy the car each stage. I also have an extended warranty and i'll want to make sure any potential bugs won't come my way to void the warranty. Suspension is more of where i'm wanting to plug into though, the car handles great stock so aftermarket upgrades will be interesting. Supercharger kit will be looking nice once the car is close to pay off, well into the future for that though.

Swapped out my door, interior, trunk & license plate lights today with LED's. They look a lot better, sorry for the poopy pictures, i'm not sure what was up with my camera refusing to focus lol. I only got a before shot of the door one's though.

Updated second post with my LED's install:)

frsguy707 12-29-2012 10:47 PM

Nice looks good! Oh hey I notice a hand print on the driver seat lol

Knightmare 12-30-2012 12:05 AM

Thanks! Haha, yeah that must've happened during the install, i installed from the passenger seat and reached across with the one hand. Funny how much that shows up though with the lighting lol!

86design 12-30-2012 02:31 PM

nice congrats!!!

tdoggy57 12-30-2012 03:07 PM

I have an asphalt FR-S, DGM is the best color in my opinion. Lookin good

DarkCard 12-30-2012 08:59 PM

Just realized i dont have door lights...fail.

But on the otherhand nice car, great color choice

Knightmare 12-31-2012 11:52 AM

Haha yeah the FRS doesn't have those door lights, i heard that the premium BRZ's don't have them either. Thanks all for the comments though! I should be getting my RallyArmor mudflaps next Tuesday! I'll be sure to share pictures on those as well:)

Knightmare 01-03-2013 09:34 PM

Got my RallyArmor mudflaps installed onto the car yesterday! I'm still not the biggest fan of how they look but i do enjoy knowing that they will help protect my paint from getting poo/rock chips behind the tires. All of my other vehicles that i've owned have had some kind of issue with that.

Thanks to my lovely wife helping me out with the rears. I was getting ready to pull the rear tires off to get to the inside screw of the flaps to tighthen when she came up with the brite idea of putting the screws on before i put the brackets on! Saved me pulling the tires, not a huge deal but funny that it didn't even cross my mind;) I will try to get some more natural pics of the car not in my garage later on and post em up.

LOL leave it to a woman to come up with a genius and simple solution to a problem. I always tend to over complicate things haha. :)

I actually really like the flaps, I think they make the car look a bit more tough. Would love to see some more pictures in the daylight if you get the chance.

Thanks,
Rick

Knightmare 01-06-2013 04:40 PM

Thanks for the comments Rick! The flaps are growing on me now though. I think it's helped that i adjusted them so that they don't stick out as much.
As requested here's some shots not in my garage:) Also throwing in some other random shots. I also wish i would've known you guys had a BRZ when i went
to pick mine up. I drove up to Mark Miller to buy my car since my local dealer is less then negoitable. Would've been cool to check out your guys car in person!

Your car looks great! and i like your idea about sharing the unique millage photos ^_^ keep us updated with the mods!

Unleashed 03-09-2013 03:28 PM

Great looking car man! Since you're in Vegas you should join up with the rest of us in Vegas 86 Club if you haven't already. We have a facebook page where we post all our event info and talk to eachother the most.

#87 03-09-2013 03:39 PM

I bought those flaps too because I got wider rims and know my paint is going to get messed up. But they are sitting on my desk for 6 months, I can't get used to the look so I haven't install them yet ^_^

Nice car

Knightmare 03-09-2013 06:27 PM

Thanks all for the comments! #87 save yourself before your paint gets dinged, i've gotten used to them since buying them and they've grown on me, well worth it! Also makes my car stand out, haven't seen any other BRZ's or FRS's with them on yet in the area.

Been a while since i've updated but I've gotten my windows tinted since yesterday and am still waiting on my perrin catback to be delivered. There's a back log of them being ordered, got mine powder coated black though. I'll be sure to get some pictures up for the install and personal review:) Last update was 3 more weeks, after a initial 2 week wait:(

I'll need to join that facebook group then Unleashed, been really busy with work and haven't seen any updates on the posts here for the Vegas area, explains why now lol.

Awesome, I or another administrator will accept your request to join. Once you are on the page, drop a post letting everyone know who you are and a little about yourself. Welcome to the club brother.

This is strange. I bought my BRZ from Mark Miller. On October 10th. Same exact color and options. I also owned 2 sentras, but sold my Super Sentra when I bought the BRZ. The only thing I have installed is Grimmspeed hood strut kit. Got a few track days I'm going to in April as well. :)

I'll start a build thread when I actually get to modifying it... but I'm weary because my hpfp is chirping pretty good and I don't want them to deny fixing it for whatever reason...

Car looks good!

Knightmare 03-21-2013 01:57 PM

Hey thanks for the comments! Yeah you should start up a journal, it helps me track the things i'm doing/done to the car:) I loved Mark Miller, they were great and SOOO much better then my local dealer here. Would gladly do buisness again!

I love my Sentra, it was the car that broke my modding cherry lol. I haven't brought myself to sell it yet, i've taken great care of the car, but i hardly drive her anymore. My wife uses it as her daily now though, so its not rotting away at least:)

My car is chirping as well and has been for a while, i think it started around 700 miles, i'm just waiting on a solid fix before i mess with it. I'm not worried about any of the mods that i've done or are doing voiding the warranty on the pump. Depending on what you are doing to the car you should be safe to:)

New toy just got here for install tomorrow! Thanks Mike@CZP!

The exhaust looks gorgeous coated!

Coheed 04-01-2013 10:51 PM

Let me know how you like it and if it's worth it. I really wanted to get the Perrin intake and exhaust with a tune for starters. Couple that with wheels and suspension later this summer. But I have to start somewhere!

Let me know what you think. I am stuck between resonated and non-resonated. I want good rumble and sound, but not be looked at like a ricer or some douche with a super loud exhaust.

This is why I went with resonated. The plan down the road is full header back so a resonated was out of the question.

I ordered with Mike@CZP as well. Cannot wait to get my exhuast in. He has a VERY GOOD deal going on right now. It was between the Invidia Q300 Stainless and this exhaust. I figured with the extra money I was getting the exhaust I REALLY wanted and the sound I grew to love in Youtube videos.

I got it installed today and it's awesome! I'm so glad i went with the black, it fits and blends in very nicely! Perrin's quality is evident in their product!

Well if you get this exhaust and it's resonated no one will be looking at you like a douche, for sure! It's pretty much just as quiet as stock but has a nice rumble/growl to it on start up. It also gets deep sounding when you push on the gas, not just taps though, actually getting on it. Really though, it's not louder then stock much at all. I plan on getting a catless front pipe down the road so this should be perfect. I would say if you plan on just doing a cat back, get un-resonated. I really can't see it being much louder then what i have now. Compared to the Invidia i had on my STI this thing is a mouse in comparison, not sure if it's the same on the BRZ but i'm pretty sure that is what Invidia goes for.

I'm also sure the tune of the exhuast will change as carbon builds up in it. I am extremly happy with the exhuast though, nice and quiet. The install was cake, any DIY'er should be able to handle this, my only snag was on the little adapters that go on the end of the exhuast hangers. I've seen someone else post about it but they seem to not like the exhuast being powder coated. They go on really really tight, took some friendly persuasion to install. I also had the issue of one side of the pipe sticking out a little bit more then the other side, I haven't fixed it yet but saw how it would work playing with the connections, just got lazy and finished it how it stands.

Khazzy is right, i would buy from Mike before the deal is gone, much cheaper then from Perrin's site and he was very nice to deal with, VERY fast shipping once Perrin got it done!

Didn't take any pictures today but i'll be sure to get around to it and post them up here ASAP!:)

That's why I'm so unsure about the two. I'll probably get a front-pipe and over-pipe, but I don't want the resonated sounding too similar to stock or the un-resonated sounding too douche bag-y. :bonk:

Knightmare 04-23-2014 03:20 PM

Time to resurrect my thread from the dead! Apologies for the long disappearing act, but I will have some new pics up. New tails, tinted the reverse light and side markers coming soon! I also owe some installed pics of the exhaust;)
