Who has had the longest wait so far?
Tomorrow will be 7 months for me. ordered on April 20th and still don't have a VIN or ETA or CAR.
SWP Limited Manual in NC, btw. anyone with a March order date still waiting? :iono: |
Ordered mine in May, delivery date is Dec. 3rd. So I'll be at 7 months by the time mine gets here.:mad0259:

well as far as longest wait from order to actually getting the car, I ordered March 3, got the car in the middle of August

I have the VIN but no better intel. I wish people who made commission on your sale would work a little harder. If it were me I'd be working the phones to get some reliable information, not making any promises but at least get some color on where the car is. I have tracking on a $5 part moving across America. They should be able to tell you if it's on a truck in transit or still waiting to clear customs at a port. |

Subaru gives us VIN#'s, sometimes. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes we have "At Port" dates, sometimes not. It's not aided by the fact that the Impreza, XV Crosstrek, WRX/STi, and BRZ are all in extremely high demand and they literally cannot build any of them fast enough. We just got a notification that all BRZ orders placed after October are pushed to May. It's a 6 month wait for an STi or an Impreza with navigation. You can't order an XV Crosstrek or a Forester at all. So it's kind of tricky right now, to say the least. |
Ordered mine on day one back in March and got mine last week.

^^ I understand, but as employees you're empowered to demand better tools on behalf of your clients. Again, I just wish people worked harder for their clients. No knock on salespeople it's just when you're spending $30k on something, you expect a little communication/awareness. I typically have bought in the used market (this is only my 2nd of 13 cars I've bought new). Maybe I hang around too many bankers.
I began my career doing process improvement and developing "smarter" systems so I guess I just get irritated when I come across a business operating behind the times. No disrespect, just my frustration talking. Do you know how much Subaru's supply chain was effected by the tsunami back in 2011? I follow the U.S. sales volume numbers monthly. Looks like a surge in demand for Subaru's as some other manufactures sales figures are starting to wane. (Year-Over-Year Increases in Sales Volume) Oct +30% Sep +36% Aug +36% Jul +16% Jun +40% May +48% Apr +6% Mar +20% |
Oh believe me, I complain about it all the time. I hate being in the dark. I ordered a BRZ too, back in March. I was completely in the dark until the day my salesperson called me and told me it was going to be there in 5 days (This was in June - I had to decline the car). He literally did not know, either. The worst thing is to over-promise and under-deliver. Sometimes it's better to just say "I don't know but I will contact you as soon as I do".
To my understanding, Subaru hasn't fully recovered from the Tsunami. When I worked at Audi I worked with three guys who left the dealer I'm currently at because of the situation. They couldn't make a living having just 10 cars on the lot to sell. When I started here we still only had about 75 cars on the ground (supposed to be well over 100). No Imprezas, no WRXs, only a handful of Legacys... it's only just now starting to equalize. |
I got lucky. ~24 hour wait.

I ordered mine beginning of April and they say the date should be Dec 3rd delivery.
|
Ordered July 26th receiving tomorrow :,)
|
Ordered June 12th and even was given August ETA. Which was pushed back to December. Still no Vin or confirmed ETA.
|
Give it up and go for a FR-S. I waited a little over two weeks. :)

I placed order on day one...March 1 for BRZ pre-orders. Car came in June 13th. Dealer was not able to keep me fully aware of order in process.
Then just like that car came in June 13. |
ordered may 2nd and was told september. still no VIN or ETA.

I almost settled for an FRS until I found out about this place. No way I would pay over MSRP for the Subaru. Only negative is I dont get the $1000 new grad discount with Subaru. |
So just to clarify it seems like the first week of December is a common ETA (Time of order probably doesn't give a lot of color). I'm assuming this is probably from the same block of cars. I'm wondering if people have seen these cars arriving or will in the coming week-two?
I don't mind going out of state but if I can wait a week to get mine locally I'd rather do that. I just want to know if it's the case or not. If not I'm willing to make trade-offs such as traveling or different color. |

Put a deposit down in October 2011. Orders went in on March. Took delivery on June 9th.
So around 8 months for me. |
I started following the development of the car late 2010. Got mine June 1st 2012. (ok, ordered 2/28 - but was first in line. Dealer didn't even know customer deposit order system was going to open 3/1. They told me they have no info and they're not taking deposits. I told them the order system is opening (sans price info!) and I have my checkbook with me. Cut them a check for $1k and got my car early.
First BRZ I ever saw in person was mine. I didn't have the luxury of seeing one, test driving, sitting in it, or even knowing the price of the car. That's why I got mine early - but by 3/1, the dealer had all 6 allocations filled. Someone ordered 3/1 and got their car Oct/Nov. Go buy one out of state if you can't wait. They're out there. SOA has a different distribution network than the northeast (they have another distributor there) - so the ordering process was different. Also it seems like Subaru figured the target buyer was the same as their WRX (guilty in my case), so they distributed based on WRX sales too. But figure some areas will buy up an AWD car and not touch a RWD car - so while good in theory, their distribution method was flawed. That's why some states have a few in stock and others have a 6 month wait list. Good luck. |
i have a car to trade in. not really easy to sell it in NE or Colorado...
still patiently waiting. |
First in line at my local Subaru dealer with preorder and deposit 3/26 (wife's birthday :) )
still waiting... and waiting... SOA customer service rep has told me it is supposed to be arriving Feb. SWP limited Auto. |
Just subaru having order issues? I looked at my fr-s on a wed, drive home on friday. They had 4 in stock. This was in last week of august.
|
Ordered mine on Sep 18th and will receive it on Jan 10th ... about 4 months of waiting ...
|
209 days of waiting.. finally got it! order on may 3, took delivery on NOV 27

the car, then NO money for them (commission),so why care? attempting to get people to care when their interests are NOT affected,is an excersize in futility. just sayin' |
I've been waiting for this car as soon as they worked on it.
Ordered in August and SOA said mine comes in Feb 2013. I am not in rush to get this car so it's fine for me to wait. i am just hoping that chirp/CEL issue resolved when i get mine. |
ordered on 9/5, ETA is 12/3. Seems like 12/3 is a common ETA for the area. Anyone know what port they come in?

that's bullcrap. if i ordered mine 4/20 and don't even have an ETA... TSIFU. |

ordered 8/25
eta 12/23 4 months isn't too bad of a wait |
Ordered 9/22 ETA 12/17. The thought of mentioning some dealers have more order opportunities than others is a true statement. If the dealer did not fill their orders yet it would take less time than dealers that already met their order numbers for the year. Basically say a dealer in Maryland had an allocated 20 orders for the year, they are not getting any more than 20. Now say a nice little dealer in South Dakota was allocated 2 orders for the year and they only sold 1 this year, then a person who comes and orders one will most likely wait less time than a person ordering at the Maryland dealer. Only so many BRZ's are going to be released this year alone. This is why a lot of orders are pushed until May next year. Also please remember with the Hurricane on the East Coast and the Typhoons that have been ravaging Japan, orders have been delayed which caused an excess amount of waiting (4 months plus).
