Black Carsmo spoiler on Firestorm FRS?

3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys I'm the lucky one that won the Carsmo spoiler at the 2nd NorCal GT86 Meet over the weekend :happyanim: First thought was to get it painted red to match my car, but decided to Plasti-dip the spoiler black to see how it would look. Its kinda growing on me. What do you guys think?

travace 11-15-2012 12:48 AM

i like it from those pics. a 3m carbon wrap would be nice as well prolly.

JoeBoxer 11-15-2012 01:06 AM

I like it with the black emblems but would probably want it painted myself.

Guff 11-15-2012 01:10 AM

Needs InitialD Livery to set it off....

finch1750 11-15-2012 01:59 AM

Do it black bro, but do you shark fin with it. It'll look sick

psk 11-15-2012 03:19 AM

if you go with a black spoiler, i suggest you go with more black accents on the car i.e. black roof and blacking the mid section of the bottom bumper (don't know what it's called lol).

86_ZN6 11-15-2012 03:22 AM

very nice! congrats on winning the grand prize!

DaJo 11-15-2012 03:34 AM

IMHO, colour match it with the red.

frsguy707 11-15-2012 03:45 AM

Looks good man.

Calidrifter 11-15-2012 04:05 AM

I'm with psk on this. If you vinyl the roof it will look better.

Killerbee 11-15-2012 05:06 AM

While it does not look bad in black, I'd rather prefer it in red. Otherwise you'd need more black accents on the car to match it imo

86_ZN6 11-15-2012 05:11 AM

lets ask ray for his opinion @Ray@Carsmo

Couldn't agree more.

It looks good, but with a black roof (and antennae obviously), and the lower middle section of the front bumper painted black, it would look even better.

The more I see that spoiler the more I like it. It is the perfect size.

LeavingNormal 11-15-2012 06:25 AM

I like it, kinda what i want to do with mine. Thanks for giving me a good example of what it will look like. I dig it, but yeah it'll need more black.

CaptainSlow 11-15-2012 07:27 AM

IMO, would look much cleaner red. Now, it just looks like you were too lazy to paint it. A cheaper alternative might be a dry carbon fiber vinyl wrap. I know that's "cheating" in some circles, but that matte CF look might provide a really nice contrast against the shiny bright red, and it wouldn't as look "mis-matched" as it does now.

stevo_12v 11-15-2012 08:16 AM

I would do this..
- Get a black sharkfin to keep the black/red theme.
- Vinyl wrap the TOP exposed part of the carsmo, but leave anything facing backwards black. The carsmo is much too 'thick' of a spoiler for all the black accents overtaking the original red paint.

ozne99 11-15-2012 08:51 AM

Congrats on the prize. I wish I was able to go to the meet! Regarding your, car I would paint it red to.keep it simple.

Nevermore 11-15-2012 08:56 AM

I voted black, but like others have said, I think it needs more black on the car to go with it. Black shark fin, wheels, I don't know about wrapping the roof, but maybe that as well. Maybe something like that black stripe the yellow sema car had down the middle of the car instead?

I think this was temporary just to see the black on red. The man seven painted his badges cuz he didn't like the plastidipped look in the end. Vinyl would be a good cheap alternative considering more black need to be added.

I know I said do the sharkfin black but wrapping the spoiler, roof, and center of the bumper would look sick

SVTSHC 11-15-2012 10:58 AM

Black but like everyone's been saying you'll need more black to accent it. Rims, Sharkfin, wheels, and roof. It'll look super good.

ZeN6 11-15-2012 11:43 AM

Thanks for your input guys...

Haha wasn't going for the InitalD rendition but I see where you were going with that

Yes this is temporary. I haven't even mounted it on my car yet. Just plasti-dipped it just to see how it would look like. I'm gonna bring it to a shop to get it painted once i decide if i want it black or red. Right now leaning on black and as others have suggested I'll probably do a black vinyl roof and antenna plus the bottom portion of the front bumper between the fangs.

FRSGT86 11-15-2012 10:36 PM

Stick with your plan, go for black and add the black accents you mentioned, it'll look badass!

GT86drifter 11-15-2012 10:42 PM

Make it panda red and black lol

Maik L 11-15-2012 11:01 PM

imo it would look better in red.

Xenocide117 11-15-2012 11:47 PM

Would look killer with a black wrapped roof as well.

Fortunate Few 11-16-2012 11:38 AM

black looks tacky. Paint it red.

sal 11-16-2012 10:00 PM

Paint it red!

I<3Twisties 11-17-2012 12:07 AM

Paint it, cuz the black looks like a unibrow!

Unless you're Anthony Davis of course.

jstans84 11-17-2012 12:34 AM

Black wrap the roof and it will look great.

Burrcold 11-17-2012 12:44 AM

Paint it.

Ray@Carsmo 11-18-2012 02:10 PM

can't go wrong with either option, it will look great painted red, and will be awesome too if you have more black accents to go with the red/black theme.

Congrats btw!
