FR-S Front Grille Options
 

I recently hit a retread on the freeway and it cracked my front grille. Its not a brad gaping hole crack, just every now and again I'll have to bend the grille back to normal. It didn't hit anything else or damage any of the paint luckily!

What aftermarket grilles are available to buy for the FR-S? I did a google search and didn't see anything.

Search... I had a topic about this that got a few relies, but the short answer is, NONE. Aside from some one size fits SOME type grills.

I searched and didn't find anything that's a direct fit. I don't want a hackjob piece of mesh that I have to MAKE fit.

You could rip it out and replace the bumper beam with an aftermarket smaller stronger one. I'll be doing something like that to expose the super shmexy intercooler.

Is it possible that instead of replacing it that maybe it could be repaired?

I'd be at square one in the end with the intercooler/radiator/condenser exposed and debris would fracture the aluminum rows. Plus being broken down and having to purchase a new vital part would suck.


It has a fairly gnarly cut in the plastic. I could glue it together, though you'd still see the point of impact.

It looks better than the OEM one by far. I'm going to jump on this one.

Id love the grillecraft one if it was more recessed. Looks kinda doofy being flush with the bumper at the top.

Looks like the stuff we use for the fences for the chickens. :lol:

I kind of like that grillecraft one. I'd rather fill the side slots with JDM fog lights though.

I thought the same thing, but it has a frame around it, so it cant be chicken wire fence. Ever try welding to it, I had a fun time doing it. haha


I was thinking the same thing, or Bumper Ducts.

I can't tell if I really like this or if its really tacky.

I was always thinking a Evo IX or X style grille would go nice with this esp for the guys going FI

Maybe I like rice. I dunno, but I do like the grill. I think it looks a ton better then stock.

I'm in the same boat. Looks like the same grill on an Exige and I like it.

What's tacky is chicken-wire fencing on a car, its just not meant to be used in any automotive, plus it thin and brittle. Check out the Subaru guys running them on their Impreza's, it looks really nice. There's a guy local to me that supposedly got a free one from their R&D for to getting the final fitment right, I'm going to track him down. haha I feel like a stalker.

The stock grille is a little less flush on the car, so there isn't a drastic change there. I called GC and they said they sold their initial stock, all went to Japan!:sigh: How did the Japanese know before us?

I'll be removing my stock grill and making a cover for the crash bar. I'll post pictures.

I "Like" that look, except with the OE Reinforcement removed. But then again, I like my AC Condenser/Radiator free of bugs, rocks & Debris. It's more for someone that has a "Hard Parker" FR-S. I really don't want to be stuck on the side of the highway with my Radiator pissing coolant.

I'm going to put a "grill" in front of the radiator to protect it. Probably something very thin, painted the same color as the radiator so you don't notice it.

Like what? You could put some thick gauge mesh in front of it, but anything directly infront would still cause what's behind it to absorb the impact as well.

If I hit something that is strong enough to get past some thickish gauge fencing mesh and still mess up my radiator I'll have bigger problems. I'm just trying to cut down on sticks or rocks. It won't be butted up against the radiator, I'll have a small buffer zone.

Thats the key concern.
