Part prices from Subaru & Toyota

Hi Guys, I just wanted to make a thread to share part prices from local service centre. Maybe some are cheaper than the others? or are these prices all the same?

Subaru Ryde
54 Buffalo Road, Gladesville NSW 2111

Oil filter (#AA130): $16
0w-20 oil (Castrol) 5.5L: $111
BRZ Spoiler painted: $535

Oil filter 16? Wow, that's a bit much. Is it different than the Scion number? I believe they retail in NV for 10

ZZT86 11-11-2012 10:28 PM

How much oil? Prices can easily vary b/w dealers, it depends on the buyer & how well you know the parts dept in question.

the Subaru 0w20 (Castrol) bottle is 5.5L.

note that the Subaru 0w20 oil (Castrol) is SM rated and not SN rated per owner's manual. Toyota's 0w20 can is 4L and SN rated.

it is up to you really.

the price for Toyota oil is around $75 for 4 litres. they are not much more expensive per litre but you will have quite a bit of excess.

And we are required to use 5.2L when performing oil change arent we? then I need to get 8L and leave with so much excess....

5.2L is not changing oil filter. 5.4L is what you need to change oil filter as well.

The Toyota filter is $29 plus GST. The good thing with buying the Toyota oil in 4 litres is you will have some top up. Next time I will get the 5.5 litres from Subaru.

Toyota spares didnt even have the washer, and that was southside toyota parts who normally have most stuff.

which southside Toyota? Gabba or Mt Gravatt?

i went to the Mt Gravatt for oil and the guy said i'll need 5w40 or something as it's a "vvt" and i was like no it's 0w20. he tried to argue with me until i showed him a pic of the actual can. he then spent 15 mins trying to look it up on the system but failed so i left and went to Subaru.

Xauterus 11-12-2012 02:29 AM

At the Gabba, the oil is on the shelf as you walk in the door

eckoflyte 11-12-2012 02:30 AM

Is the Subaru 0w-20 oil made by Castrol? I thought it was made in japan by subaru.

Since we are on the topic on subaru and toyota parts...
will installing trd parts (springs to be specific) void the warranty on the 86?

what about installing another brand?

at the very least they will will void the warranty on the shocks

benoh 11-12-2012 03:51 AM

even trd shocks?

Xauterus 11-12-2012 04:23 AM

Trd wont be covered by Toyota warranty. Trd will warranty the parts though. If another part fails due to Trd shocks you might be in the do do.

Nafe 11-12-2012 04:33 AM

All this mods and warranty bullshit has been covered several times. Use the search function instead of hijacking a totally different topic. Not hard.

ZZT86 11-12-2012 05:19 AM

That 5.5L container of oil is priced like liquid gold ! In the US it's like $49 ! I know Castrol make 20L containers of this stuff and I will consult my local Repco dealer 2moro for his best price.

EDIT:

OK, Castrol Edge 0W20 product code 3373742 (20L drum) for multiple oil changes is the way to go, best price quoted from SC Auto $221 !! That's $11.05/L or about $61/5.5L & you gotta order it. Now that's more like it !
:D

EDIT:

Mobil will release their version Feb next year in Australia.

Just for reference

for the front camber bolts:
Toyota: $ 10.10each so for the pair = $20.20
Subaru: $ 11.55each so for the pair = $23.10
