Lack of steering angle?

I know only about 3 people on this board actually drift but has anyone noticed the lack of steering angle? It makes me sad.

Any vendors want to step up to the plate and make some knuckles and rack spacers?

Supermassive 11-11-2012 09:11 AM

After seeing how much steering angle drifters want...good luck without a widebody kit or at the least some ugly fender extensions. The fenderwell is just not deep enough for some drift only steering angles. Theres some pics somewhere on this board about a monster 2JZ GT86 that they made for drifting that had a wider front track and ridiculous steering angle. Also looked like a crab imo...too damn wide.

I'm checking with a buddy at Powered by MAX. He runs the San Diego shop and recently added an FRS to his stable, so I'm sure he'll be making something soon. So far I just see wheel spacers on his site, but there could be more in development.

I know PBM has gotten their hands on a car and started some projects.

Not enough fenderwell? Have you noticed the whole inner area is a plastic cover? You're obviously don't drift but that's ok.

Anyway, how many cars can you name that have more steering angle from the factory? You're implying something is wrong here...
Maybe Toyota and Subaru should have hired you instead.

He said that it'll be one of the last parts they come out with. Sorry, no more info than that, and I couldn't say how long it'll be.

Hmm cars with more factory angle, just stating the ones I've driven but I'm sure I'm missing some
-every S chassis made
- mkIII supras
-r33
-soarer
-GS300(400)
And possibly
X80 chasers but that is a toss up.

You should probably leave now

boredom.is.me 11-14-2012 12:57 AM

You should probably build your own car or develop your own steering parts since you are such an extreme drifter.

What happened to that exhaust you were working on? < I'm not being a smart ass there.

they have something that is supposed to help with the rear axle issues in the works... which is hopefully coming out soon.

the front suspension of the 86 was basically made to accept angle modifications. you guys are going to freak out when some of these kits start hitting the market

Biddys 11-21-2012 03:10 AM

Portland speed industries is working on a few suspension solutions

Oh trust me, I noticed all this when I put my coils on. I stared at the whole front end and noticed the rack distance and everything. its going to get silly.

Get off the drugs. Soarer's have less angle.

canu_50 07-26-2013 10:03 AM

unless you have a lot more power, i don't see my self adding steering angle to this car.. Have you been full lock in 3rd gear??? If you are turbo with 300whp disregard my comment.

But most people that run these car are not pro drifter, and will use angle kit to correct their drift.. Learn to drift with what you have.. Also.. it's a pain to daily an angle kit..

I owned 7 S13s over 14+ years and can tell you that in stock form, the S13 does not have more steering angle than the FRS/BRZ.

canu_50 07-26-2013 02:40 PM

neither does the supra mk3 or soarer.. GS makes you think it has steering angle because of the lenght of the car and the weight.

I think OP never drifted for real before :)

MIKE_909 08-27-2013 12:45 AM

Well it's been a bit and there has been a few posts on this thread but I am making some changes to my knuckles for more angle and the car does lack angle for drift I track weekly 2&3 gear tracks bases but how well the car Initiates it often does not have enough angle to correct but when I'm done ill keep you guys posted on how it goes

Ah, thanks. I don't browse much lately.

I have seen a Japanese site where the guy used skyline uprights onto his 86. He also went with the larger 5 stud pattern.
