Funny 86/BRZ Moments
 

I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about! The funny/awkward situations your 86/BRZ provides you with.

I have only had the car 4 days but so far:

1. Whilst taking delivery we were having some trouble getting it of the flatbed truck it came on without it scraping (car had come up from Victoria). Delivery guys asked if it had a heavy V8 up front :bonk:

2. Driving in Brisbane city on the way to work when a guy rubbernecking missed the step of the curb and fell over!

3. That afternoon was happily sitting, parked, in the car when someone started trying to look in through the windows and got a hell of a shock when they noticed I was inside :thumbup:

Loving every second of ownership so far!! :happyanim: Would like to hear your stories :)

when a family member asked me if it was a 80k (USD) car :lol:

when friends ask me, "have you got your car yet?"

and I say, "ahhhh, yeah nah..."

they're like "dude wtf?"

me: *shrug*

When people asked is it:
A datsun
New sportivo
New Ferrari.. dont ask.
Servo said nice Audi, r8? I felt bad and said yeah mate thinking who is this guy.

When I got it back in June and traffic would move for me to check it out. Loved it.
Now it's the little kids jumping out of their booster chairs and pointing, the girls trying to make convo by saying is that turbo and public still turning heads in crowded areas.

When ladies say nice car and I say give me your number I'll take you for a cruise on night.. and my mates sit there shaking their heads. But it works anyway...

Can't forget those who say fu*k that's ugly bro.. underpowered.. cheap blah blah. But take pictures when they leave. Or mates who change their mind around corners ;)

Or the 330i driver who was like you didn't even floor it aye and you kept up with me, saying yeah just wanted to tease you and in my mind thinking fu*k I floored it and smashed into gears keeping up with you.

I was refuelling my car today.
When I went to pay at the counter, the young attendant goes, "Nice 86! Is that the good 86 or the normal one?" :bellyroll:

Heard ambulance sirens going off while I was at the front of an interaction stopped at the lights to give way for them.

The ambulance was heading the opposite direction from where I was turning right and while he was turning right he suddenly hit the brakes. The driver of the ambulance car hit the brakes fairly hard to stop, he gave me a thumbs up and a smile before he blasted off again.

:bellyroll: Lol I almost did that to someone some months ago! It was the first time I'd seen one of these cars up close and I wanted to get a look at the interior, then noticed the owner sitting inside. I didn't have the nerve to tap on the window, but I hung around admiring his car for a bit hoping he'd get out so I could chat with him about it, but he didn't :(

mine had been dropped back so much i told everyone i am not getting IT anymore... which is partly true

Was in a small supermarket today and just noticed through the window a stunning blonde taking pics of my car. Didn't get a chance to say hi because I was at the check out waiting to pay :-(

i absolutly love chattig with people about the car :lol: i always interact with lookie lous...to the point where i have made myself late before

Yeah I've done that too :bellyroll: I have lots of "Funny E36/7/8 moments". Or if I see someone with an interesting car, I usually initiate conversation if the owner is outside or if at least their window is down. This guy looked busy, though, and I didn't want to bug him :P

I have people taking pictures and checking my car out all the time. Strange thing is I'm used to it now.

I was shocked one morning when I walked out the front to see a chick taking photos of my $200 motor scooter when my 86 was just behind it. lol

only in south west Sydney...

1. subaru WRX pulled up next to me at the lights, 2 guys in there passenger in the WRX asked

"OI CUZ! ARE THEY THE NEW COROLLA 86?"
me: "it's inspired by that, it's just 86 GTS"

WRX passanger: "THAT'S MAD!!!! HOW MUCH IS IT? 70K?"
me: Nah....40K (Auto)"

WRX: "Wallah that's hot cuz! NICE RIDE!"
Me: "thanks" nodded and drove off...


2.Was parked at a parking lot, i was waiting for someone, two old couples rock up with there ford mustang (some really old one) was interested in the car, showed them around and told them it was on the commercials with an Asian guy drifting around the dirt. They were impressed and noticed it looked kinda like a Toyota 2000GT.

I was asked if the car was a Hybrid Lexus at a servo in Canberra.

Haha the good old rexy boys. Had a few of them.. ripping it in front of some impatient fu**ers coming from a parking spot then beeping for me to get out.. I was on cold start.. then they follow me instead to say 'faaark bro that was hectic what is it' I just said dunno and drove off thinking didn't they wanna park quickly a few minutes ago?

Hence why i dont want to de-badge my BRZ.. dont want no one gettin all confused up in my shit ya'll :\

Got car on Monday and took the wife out for first ride in it yesterday - after a blast through the Gold Coast Hinterland etc the conversation went ...

Boss (wife) - 'So how much did you pay for it?'

Me 'Around 34K on the road'

Boss 'What did you REALLY pay for it'

Me '34 all up'

Boss 'If you don't tell me the truth I'm going shoe shopping!'

Me 'Ok, just under 50'

Boss 'Thought so - it's good for the money though!!!'

Which means I have lots of money left for any mods now :lol:

I did have one moment a while ago, me and a mate going somewhere, pull up at a set of lights to turn right, had another right turning lane next to it.
A guy in a GTi pulls up beside me, guy and his kid, he winds the window down and talks to my mate asking what we thought of it.
my mate turns to the guy, and says "how is the Polo?"
the guy looked kinda pissed off haha.
my mate didn't even realise that he said it.

poor guy, his kid is going to give him shit all the time now "hey dad, can we go out in the Polo?"

Went to the butchers a while back, couple guys come out and they Re talking to each other, first says to the other, "it has a turbo bro" conversation goes on for awhile I similar vainand another guy pulls out a pearler to the other guy, "you can buy one a factory drift one, bro"
Another time at broad beach, at movenpick ice cream, i was parked opposite the icecream shop, my son was sleeping in car and we where watching him, one couple walk by, stop do a u turn his girlfriend and him look at at all angles, taking a few snaps as well. Couple minutes later a group of elderly people pass and this older lady starts ogling the car. Son wakes up and she looks around, advises us and how she really wants to buy this car but her kids think that she too old for it, my advise to her is forget the kids and what's best for her.

Always have people going on about it being turbo.

i'd post mine, but most are still alive.. there was a TV show with some in it not long ago..

Took my mum for a drive and parked the car in freo to get some ice cream. mum was still in the car when two girls walked over to the car and started taking pictures..mum was like WTF..i was quite disappointed i wasnt in the car at that time..

Couple of Kiwi lads drove next to me asking if it was the new supra..

I've gotten that so many times, pretty annoying when I have the GTS and I have to explain that there isn't a difference at all
