JPM Coachworks Alcantara Center Console

This is a custom piece I had JPM do for me, so I wouldn't expect it on their website. This required me shipping in my center console to them and was actually a very reasonable price on their part. A keen eye will show the area where the heated seats switch is for non-US cars and the BRZ was filled in for a cleaner install.

They're shipping it to me today, so no installed pics yet.

Nice!

Amazing! I wonder if they'll do leather, too (already asked on their FB page). Good call on filling in that stupid recess for the seat heater switches. I plan on relocating mine somewhere else so there aren't two parts-bin switches staring me in the face every time I get in the car.

deucethemoose 11-08-2012 03:18 PM

I'm interested in seeing how it matches (or doesn't) the rest of the console and dash. Would be nice to have them do an alcantara parking brake boot to blend in.

Ordering the parking brake / shifter and the dash is also getting covered.

Center console was $300 + shipping (cost me $75 to ship it to them, $46 return from Southern California to Georgia.) Which I felt was VERY reasonable for genuine Alcantara compared to local upholsterers that don't have the same attention to detail. Honestly, I'm pretty amazed JPM has such low prices, relatively speaking. They almost always run about half the cost of what I get quoted locally even when I remove the piece from the car, hand deliver it to them, and then reinstall it myself. Perhaps it just comes down to the cost of doing business in California vs. Georgia and their ability to buy Alcantara in bulk.

Dash and A-pillars I'm waiting on a quote from them. They've been swamped with SEMA, so it's still sitting in my garage. I fear the shipping charges for the dash.

Turbowned 11-08-2012 05:11 PM

I was thinking about saving up a few G's and taking a road trip down there to just drop the car off and say "go nuts", rather than shipping a bunch of parts. I'd like to do the headliner, parts of the door panels, center console, and possibly the dash, too. Those would be a beast to ship. I don't trust any of the local upholsterers, either.

ExWhyZer0 11-08-2012 05:27 PM

I may have to make a short road trip ;)

JPM boys know whats up! :happy0180:
Can not say enough about the quality of work they do, and the great products they offer!

We teamed up for in 2011 SEMA, for the RallySportDirect 2011 STi shop car. A bit off topic, but shows the great work these guys can do...oh and they did the entire interior job in about 36hrs to get it back to us on time!

Simply cant go wrong with the quality of work these guys do

To answer your earlier question, quote for the dash was between $1100 and $1400, which would probably land me closer to the 2 grand mark once I account for shipping. Bit more than I was expecting since it's so small (last I checked it was something like 55"x26"), but I'll have to put some thought into it.

ForcedFab_Jon 11-08-2012 08:27 PM

Man, I'm a cheap ass when it comes to most things, but I would really have to have that done. I have donks come through my shop that have 5-10k into their interiors and it never looks close to that quality or finish. I could see dropping 3-5k to have a leather finished interior like that. It makes the cars just look so much more finished. You might never get the Money back at resale, but who cares when you get to sit in it everyday and know almost no one else has one like it.

What was the cost on this?

RallySport Direct 11-08-2012 08:45 PM

The crazy thing is the difference it makes on the interior and how it changes everything.
Even the smaller items make a huge difference in the overall feel and making the car seem more expensive inside. The stock STi interior was on par with how the BRZ/FRS feels, adding JPM items makes it SOOOOOO much better.

We should have some JPM stuff showing up for our shop BRZ shortly, and we can wait to spice up the interior and show the before and after for you guys and galls :D

How does that steering wheel feel on the hands after a while?

Exactly, worth every penny! You can feel like you're sitting in an exotic rather than a $25k sports car, and no one would be the wiser. It's nice to know I don't have to buy a big heavy Audi to get an interior full of quality materials. I'd love to send 'em some MR2 parts, but I'm just done with spending money on this car... I may end up selling the car just to pony up cash for upgrades on a BRZ!

Yall definatley gotta check out their websiye. More pieces just sayin very nice.

Do you mean the longevity of the materials? Or just the general feel?

For me, I LOVE the Alcantara feel on the wheel, it seems to wick away moisture from your hands, and just inspires confidence in the steering as it gives you something really nice to grip on to. Now in regards to the longevity, we have not put many miles on that wheel, but we have customers who have and they are holding up great. I have had a few suede steering wheels personally, and while they do get "worn down" after awhile due to the oils in your hands, but they can easily be brought back to new with the proper cleaning and care.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Rick

I met with them at their shop a while back, both really nice guys, and would be great to do business with if you're in the market. I was disappointed to see they didn't become official vendors here, but that wouldn't stop me from buying from them. Just can't decide where to start!

Lee358 11-11-2012 04:53 PM

Im sitting in my car right now an i decided i want to do my center console and steering wheel! Its going to happen during the winter!

When I spoke to Alex, he was pretty serious about core exchanges due to how hillariously chap most of the interior pieces are for the FR-S / BRZ, so you just might get lucky!

Lee358 11-12-2012 02:30 PM

I just called no answer ill call back in a bit.

I know once i get the knee pads installed i'm going to go ape on some other parts... Was thinking the cheap doorcard would be great wrapped with a touch of padding behind it.

Gen 11-16-2012 12:16 AM

More goodies came today. Yes I know I can't take pictures.
