Request: Asphalt FR-S / Blacked Out HLs w/ Chrome Projector Shroud and Reflector
I've been trying to find examples of an Asphalt FR-S with blacked out headlights. I'm getting my TRS kit soon and I want to decide what to do with the headlight while it's open.
1. Fully blacked out - Seen this 2. Blacked out with halogen reflector still chrome - Seen this 3. Blacked out with halogen reflector and projector shroud still chrome - Can't find example This in an Asphalt car: http://www.lightwerkz.net/news/2012/...emed-housings/ I've also looked at Raven examples, but I don't want to go by that. Help would be appreciated! |

No sir. Still waiting for a good example of this! Closest thing I found, but I find it to be too dark:

Just photoshop it...shouldn't be difficult. If you don't have photoshop, download GIMP (it's free)

Well, just to get an idea...the housing is already chrome, so just select the parts you want black and desaturate, or use a black paint fill and dial back the opacity a bit to make that layer transparent.
|
I'll give it a try tonight, probably.
|
I want to see the outcome of darkening out the chrome on an asphalt. I wanted to do it but don't want the too dark look
|
I blacked all of it excep the the DRLs and I couldn't be happier. Looks mean.

@oso_25
I think this looks awesome. I'm opening up my headlights this weekend and want to decide what I'll do with them. If you could take that picture sometime this week that would be appreciated. I think the choices you made about what areas to black out beautifully contrast the headlight and the rest of the car's color. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1354382124 |
Mine are blacked out on asphalt, you can check my profile for the pix

@raul have you seen this one?
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...19&postcount=1 I know you want Asphalt, not Raven, but I think those look really nice. |
Yeah, there's a few ravens I looked at, and frankly that's probably the best looking one I've seen. Chrome halos look pretty damn good, but I think I'm sticking with that oso_25 did.

@Vonsamhain
That's not the same. I did mine though. Excuse the brake dust on the wheels and the lack of side marker. I put everything together and had to snap pics before sunset. |
That's sick! Doing mine next weekend! How did u leave the side Crome?
|
Masked it with painter's tape before I sprayed :)

[QUOTE=raul;1086438]I used semi-gloss black. A glossy black would look too dark for my taste. Since the semi-gloss has a very broad and soft reflection, it looks dark grey-ish. Here's a picture a few months later that shows the headlights a bit better.
Nice. You did a good job man. Thanks I really wanted to see how this would look. While I still think I'll go to BRZ lights and LED DRLs where the current turn signals are, this is really sweet |
