ECU & Slip light p0015 ~ p0019 error

Is your beloved 86 stuttering, miss-firing, idle-ling between 400 and 500rpm and even stalling, resulting in The ECU and Slip light constantly light giving a P00** error??????

GeeTee86 11-07-2012 08:11 AM

There is a thread CEL error, just search for it.

Touch wood - not yet

JouMaSeHoes 11-07-2012 08:35 AM

Nope, but it seems to me that the alcohol/petrol blends in the states have something to do with it.

Thankfully Sasol stopped blending alcohol in ours in the eighties (? if I remember correctly).

GeeTee86 11-07-2012 09:18 AM

Hpefully the new Engen primax every forum is raving about doesn't cause the same issue. In the newer batches the table tollerences has been increased.

Nope.

well mine was one of six in SA to give the dreaded p0019 error with 90km on the clock, thought i bought a lemon, and demanded a new 86, then they got the guys from TRD to come to Secunda to investigate, the problem lies with the VVTI cam gear as the error code points out, there is a snail type spring inside the camgear that got stuck in the advance position due to red-lining too much before the mandatory 1600km drive in time.

all is well now and almost at 3000km on the clock.

Very interesting, I wonder how long before new cars are governed to 4000rpm for the first 1000 miles?

GeeTee86 11-08-2012 12:24 AM

More motivation for me to keep it below 4000rmp

apparently the below 4000rpm for the first 1600km is a Subaru thing, has something to do with the boxer engine, as Toyota them selves do not have a drive in period on there engines not even on the new TRD Aurus.

i assume you have the High? standard here, didn't think the extra 40k was worth it, but damn a buzzer would have been nice

GeeTee86 11-08-2012 02:52 AM

Yep, was a pretty frustrating first 1600km but the buzzer helped a lot.
As for the extra R30k, that's probably one for another thread but I reckon you're getting a LOT for your money.

-Bi-xenon headlights(auto leveling)
-LED "parking" lights
-Headlamp washers
-Door courtesy lights
-17" wheels
-Aluminum step plates
-Vented disks front & rear
-Digital speedometer with programmable shift light & buzzer
-Part leather/alcantara seats & leather inserts on the center console/knee pads
-Heated seats
-Dual zone auto climate control
-Full sized mag spare wheel
-Trunk lining
-and some other things I can't remember right now
-Smart keyless entry with stop/start button
-Electric folding mirrors
-Frame-less rearview mirror

If you added all those options to a BM or Audi it would probably add much more than R30k.

GeeTee86 11-08-2012 04:33 AM

Key less entry with start button

brian_c_m 11-08-2012 05:00 AM

and the all important Frameless rearview mirror! lol.

sav 11-08-2012 05:04 AM

Oh yes, that too! As well as folding mirrors.

Must say, I'm really enjoying the keyless entry - never having to take the key out of your pocket is a nice bonus.

That's true, just the five 17" mag wheels is 25k over the parts counter

v3rgil 11-08-2012 05:21 AM

JouMaSeHoes 11-08-2012 05:48 AM

Nope, pretty sure mine doesnt.
