It's an owner car, not a dealer car. The dealer is just featuring it using it to promote the FR-S. It's not an outrageous modding job, but still nice.

Got3n 11-06-2012 11:34 AM

i want the armrest!!!

no they are using this customer and false claims to get people to go to them to buy stuff. its not about promoting the car.

as far as the guy and his car ...props to him it is nice.

Well I guess you have a point. I had a chance to meet the owner of that car though. My favorite thing was the GT86 Black/red badge.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 11:40 AM

First off, let me just say that we are not selling those items. We do not sell these parts, so as far as false claims... they aren't false. Secondly, That is really his car and as for the arm rest... he did custom make them and we agreed he could sell them through us, but the rest of the stuff he did himself. We only promoted it out of showing what you can do with your FRS.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 11:41 AM

May I also add that we have no reason what so ever to give false claims of anything. He custom did the car and we thought it was cool and he agreed to promote it. He brought it by to show us. He plans to do more custom work, but those are things he is doing on his own. He adds and gets the parts his own way not through us. We never claimed he did.

gimme a break you are promoting the hell out of the dealer... saying come down go to our site for these things. stop playing like you are doing this for the customer and own up to the fact that this is advertising for your dealer.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 11:46 AM

H bought the car with us and added his own custom work. The only thing we sold was the car itself. We also never said anything about come down for these parts. We said look what he did with his vehicle. We don't have nor do we sell any of those custom parts. This was completely just a customer who bought the vheicle from us and wanted to show us the cool things he did and we thought it wa cool and did a video. Yes of course we mentioned oursleves as the point of refrence where the car was purchased and that it was our video, but never once do we say... come by parts from us. We dont have them to sell.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 11:47 AM

I will also add that you can't get them through us even from our website. We seriously and honestly just simply did a video on a cool car. You ae welcome to ask the Owner yourself, above it was mentioned someone knows him or met him...ask for yourself. He bought not even 1 of those parts from us and we never claimed he did. We do carry other items, but not any of the stuff he did.

So in the video we mention the exhaust tips, the microfiber, which he did elsewhere, but he shared with us it took an hour for them to do and he bought an added the emblems and antenna himself. If we were promoting the parts we would have done a better job of adding a catalogue or something with pricing with the video. If you notice we didn't even link our parts or accessories page. It was never about that and we simply want to promote cool cars and happy customers.

Those are the largest wheel that will fit without "having problems with the size of the wheel well"?

Shark fin gives better reception?

lol

EDIT: 1:28 you say you can get the arm rest at headquarter toyota.

MSIZZLE 11-06-2012 11:52 AM

i dont see anything wrong with what the dealer did, what is the big deal??? if the dealer did something wrong who is the victim??

Dude, for real, get off your high horse. What is the problem with the dealer having a good relation with this customer and posting a video about it?

People are effing incredible, if the dealers are assholes, they are wrong and if they are nice, they are wrong too.

Good job, Headquarter Toyota!

M3power326 11-06-2012 12:00 PM

Microfiber wrap huh? And I think it's funny he mentioned the Injen decal... Lol

floridaguy 11-06-2012 12:03 PM

Thanks Sportsguy83. We're glad some people can appreciate a simple video showing off a cool car. We here love cars and love when customers show what they have done with their cars.

We actually are striving to promote a different type of car buying atmosphere and that includes happy customers. We have worked very hard to show that through customer reviews and asking customers to let others know that we are not your traditional type of dealer. We don't play games and we do business differently. Treating customers like family. That's another reason why we share this video.

As far as for negative comments regarding the content, this was a pure and simple video. These are all things we learned about these parts in talking with the owner about what he bought and how he was using them. He continues to work on it and we are excited to see what else he does with it in coming months. He didn't disclose where he got the parts, but only mentioned that they came from companies in Japan or were ordered from Japan. I do not know, however if that applies to all of or only some of those parts. As I said, he didn't get them from us. We just thought it was cool. Thanks Sportsguy

floridaguy 11-06-2012 12:04 PM

M3- Yes We did mention that decal. We know he hasn't modified the engine yet, although he did say he had plans to do so in the future. At present its only the decal until he does make the modification, but he said that was coming soon. We will see it closer to December from what he told us.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 12:06 PM

#87 Yes the arm rest is his custom creation and patent pending. He has agreed to make them available through us. Thats the only item that is expected to be available, but isn't just yet.

there is nothing wrong with that... but when they start saying false claims is the problem i have

floridaguy 11-06-2012 12:39 PM

Travace- The only item like that in the video is the arm rest and that is true only because the customer made it.

travace 11-06-2012 12:43 PM

ohh and claiming that the sharkfin will give better radio? funny i read that its the opposite

it dont matter dude... you can come on here and say all you want... its right there floating around on the screen... its a promotion video for the dealership. Call it what you want but if you just wanted to show off dudes car then there is no need for all the adverts.

I think we can agree a salesman in general is not the most knowledgeable person with cars (unfortunately). But I see the bigger picture here (since I know the backstory and mind you, I don't know it through Headquarter Toyota, I know it through the car owner).

It is a dealer being friendly with a customer and recognizing a customer who put his signature in the car.

Ok Travace, you don't like the video, I think the point has been well taken. Now move on since you have nothing else to say about it.

floridaguy 11-06-2012 12:48 PM

What adverts are you talking about. We clearly were just pointing out the stuff he did for his vheicle. So we mention who we are and that this was filmed at our dealership. We say it twice. Otherwise we thought it was a fun way to show off his custom job cause its nice and will be going to the Auto show.

Headquarter, no need to keep the discussion going. travace made up his mind, and nothing will change it. Some people will not like the video others will appreciate it. That's the way the internet goes. I say again, good job and hope you guys can keep growing the dealer/customer relationship.

The claim about the antenna is par for the course when it comes to dealer videos; you have to take everything with a grain of salt. I see nothing wrong with the dealer doing some self-promotion if the customer is a willing participant, which he does appear to be. There is absolutely no need for the rudeness present in this thread, irrespective of whether you like the car or not.

By the way, was I the only one who came into this thread expecting to see a BRZ with an FR-S bumper or another hybrid of some sort?

Yes, take a look at this beautiful FR-Z that this owner customize! Sorry HQ Toyota, couldn't help myself. :D

VADER 11-08-2012 09:36 AM

BTW.. What's an FR-Z? o.O

arucard77 11-08-2012 09:46 AM

It really just goes to show, how much some of these sales reps really know about this car. I'm pretty sure that most of us are more knowledgeable then them.

JDMenrique 11-08-2012 09:49 AM

headquarter marks up their vehicles, which is why i didnt buy mine there.

When we go buy this car, WE tell the sales people about the features in the car. In my case, I just chilled with a Ukrainian hottie that sold me the car. Her name was Ava. Hubba hubba.

So not fair! I'll try to snap a pic with her when I come in for my 5k service. :P
