Not taking orders for anymore?

Anyone else heard this from the dealers? I was told by two dealers that they are not taking anymore orders and that even if they could you can not pick the color. You can only get what is already in the pipeline. The guy I was working with even said he wants a white one and works for Subaru and could not order one. The $500 down only saves your price.

Pete156 11-05-2012 08:23 PM

Wow. Wonder how widespread this is

BRZnut 11-05-2012 08:26 PM

Did the dealers say why?? Maybe all 2013s have been sold out????

xn7485 11-05-2012 08:44 PM

Posted this in a diff post but:

"As of Oct 25th, all orders for the BRZ are slotted to May 2013." - released by SoA.
Pretty much means sold out, but nearly 3k are still on its way to fill it's 6k limit up till April. The ones on their way are still available if order got cancelled though.

BRZfan 11-05-2012 09:26 PM

The BRZ IS, after all, a limited production vehicle. It should be expected and that is good, in many people's opinions, for those that have one now or will get one.

"The $500 down only saves your price".

Interesting comment.

I don't think that many posters in this forum fully understood that as there have been many questions/commemts/complaints about their expected delivery time.

I wouldn't bother putting down a deposit now if it isn't for a car you specifically ordered. Just monitor autotrader or cars.com for the car you want. The deposits aren't fixed either its not like all dealerships charge 500.

Turbowned 11-06-2012 10:34 AM

You can order one now, you just won't see it until May at the earliest, from what I understand. 2013MY Forester orders cannot be placed, and it appears there's a 4mo. wait for the Impreza/WRX and Crosstrek, and a 3mo. wait for Legacy, Outback and Tribeca orders. This is what happens when Subaru eclipses last years' record sales year by October! They barely have enough cars to keep on dealer lots, let alone allocate factory orders.

It's a good problem to have, I suppose. It's just tough for people who want a very specific vehicle to get what they want. I've lost a few customers because we couldn't get them the specific color/option combo in a vehicle, and couldn't switch them to another vehicle. Some color/options combos are just as rare as any BRZ, like a Forester with All Weather Plus package or an Outback with the Special Appearance package, or any STi, for that matter. There's no STi's in New England, period!

It's a very good problem, but also bad. Shows the brand is growing strong, but people who get told it will be a long wait you risk alienating and having them choose another brand. Just shows that they are making the right choices design wise and that people are seeing them for what they are a nice fun car

jmaryt 11-06-2012 09:16 PM

and apparently an extremely rugged, well built, durable vehicle!

WRXGuy1 11-07-2012 01:56 PM

Come up to New Hampshire, tons of BRZ's are sitting on the lots.

subaru needs to fix their allocations, they would have my money right now if I could buy one semi-locally here in Socal.

Depends on how you define semi-locally. I went 1,200 miles and it didn't seem that far to be honest. Drove it back home over night.

theoschao 11-07-2012 08:06 PM

I had put down a deposit back in early/mid June and have been waiting since. This morning, my dealership called me informing me that allocations are open again, and asked if I want to put in an order. I said yes.

Now, I am no longer on the wait list, and instead have a VON. I asked the dealership when I could expect delivery, and I was giving a wide range of anywhere from December 2012 to June 2013...not sure what to make of this.

Yeah, no shit!

That's the exact SWP Limited BRZ MT I ordered seven months ago sitting amongst their inventory.

That's where I bought mine from, 1000 miles one way.
They have them because their 4th in total volume sales nationwide.
Also ranked (maybe?) number 1 in turbo sales for the country.
As well as no sales tax. Oh, and no markup, paid MSRP.]
The cars will all move. Its just logistically way up in the corner.

I also would do it (for free with somebody else's car!)

I'm supposed to get my car this month, but thanks for the offer. I've amassed quite the inventory of aftermarket parts waiting since spring from Cusco, Perrin, Whiteline, GT-SPEC, TRD, Beat Sonic, Sullivan Racing, StopTech, Grimmspeed, Yonaka, TSW, Michelin, Buddy Club and others. Perhaps no other BRZ has been so eagerly anticipated. I have a warm, clean spot in the garage awaiting this project.

Damn! This round trip or one way? I thought my 600 mile + round trip was good. But to be honest we just went to look at the WRB color to make sure my better half would like it - was not really ready to buy yet...but did.:bonk:

Turbowned 11-08-2012 03:26 PM

I feel so sorry for you guys not in New England right now... There's 8 GBS Limited 6MT's available that I could snatch any time if I just had my finances in order. You all on the other hand, have money ready to go and no cars to spend it on!

Congrats on getting your car.

That's one way. Flew to Seattle and drove back that night.

Broke in the car in one day. 2,400 miles to date, no problems and the car pulls really well.
