what is a good price for an at brz at this moment?

i'm currently shopping around and so far i've seen +2-5k markup on the car and the msrp for a limited is around 29.7k so i'm guessing either msrp or lower is what i should be looking at.

I'm in the socal area and i'm not quite sure which subaru is the one to go to if i'm looking for good service.

So far i've only been to the irvine one and they gave me the price of
$32,968.00 plus tax and license fees for a limited white at.

Jidonsu 11-03-2012 05:41 PM

Get it from an out of state dealership at msrp or below.

Turbowned 11-03-2012 05:42 PM

MSRP is a good price to pay, as in, no markups. If you can't get one in Cali at MSRP (as seems to be the case) you could always ship a car from out of state. There's plenty BRZ's up here in New England and some dealers are even offering discounts from MSRP! Probably costs $1,500 to $2,000 to ship one.

Kkd79 11-03-2012 05:42 PM

How long ago did you see the limited white auto in irvine?

Wes B. 11-03-2012 05:44 PM

You could always wait and buy a slightly used one (less than 5k miles).

mistax 11-03-2012 06:26 PM

PMok 11-03-2012 06:58 PM

check out the thread in my sig if you are interested in buying a car outside of CA and bringing it in... there are plusses and minuses to be aware of.

Burrcold 11-03-2012 07:50 PM

Crazy, the markup in some US states for ONCE makes these cars more expensive to buy vs buying in Canada. Basically every dealer here is selling for MSRP (I was able to get $500 below and tint thrown in...not much but something). As others have said, try to get out of state although I don't know the issues bringing an out of state car into CA.

No issue for me buy out of state and I will do that again next time for STI!

if that's OTD pricing then that is reasonable, depending on how high your sales tax is

That's not OTD price, in Cali, it's about +10% for OTD

moK 11-04-2012 02:45 AM

Try calling up Kearny Mesa Subaru in San Diego. I got my Limited there last week for MSRP, but they did force their popular package B on me which came out to a little more than 28k before tax.

Turbowned 11-04-2012 11:21 AM

I searched a 250mi radius of LA and came up with these:

-WRB Limited Auto at Subaru Pacific in Hermosa for $30,589 #877-463-5608
-SSM and DGM Limited Auto at Subaru Glendale for $30,589 and $29,788 #888-245-8241
-LR Limited Auto at Subaru Las Vegas for $29,907 #888-227-2814
-CBS Limited Manual at Mercedes-Benz of Bakersfield for $28,265 #866-398-3858

Hope this helps?

jmaryt 11-04-2012 12:59 PM

I got lucky and called an hour after the dealership decided to allow deposits on a car that was coming in the following week. I was told that they didn't take any orders and didn't take deposits on that car before that morning.

Turbowned 11-04-2012 05:17 PM

No, those are all new cars, sorry I didn't clarify.

Private sellers are basically asking for MSRP on their lightly used cars. It's kinda...funny.

diirk 11-04-2012 06:12 PM

Galpin had one on Friday. Lasted for an hour. Sold for MSRP.

brzee 11-04-2012 07:26 PM

I am from so cal and put a deposit with a dealer in Colorado for couple hundred under MSRP. Will be flying there in 2 weeks to pick it up and drive it back and it will still be cheaper than buying MSRP here.

jkonquer 11-04-2012 08:00 PM

Most of them are now shipping with 1b option, which includes home link mirror, chrome trim, wheel locks, rear bumper cover, and etc and msrp at 28,807

So you were the one who took it:( lol
Hows their customer service? Im thinking about going there, i have talked with susan and she was willing to do it for msrp without any hassle.

Lol yeah did you also call about that car a few weeks ago? I'm not sure who Susan is, but I dealt with Dan Fisher and he seems like an alright guy. The car did come with all the accessories you mentioned and there wasn't any hassle, so overall it was a positive experience. Good luck!

I didn't like the way they mislead me. Dan mitchell told me he would take my order and I drove to the dealership for nothing. He told me he would put the order in within the next few days; he didnt contact me till one month later telling me he couldn't do it. When I called him after a week of no contact, he told me the Subaru ordering system is down (bunch of bs).

Also Kimberley the internet salesperson quoted me $3-4k over MSRP originally back in June. A few weeks ago however she emailed me an offer to buy a limited at MSRP.

Also bad Yelp reviews. These are my only experiences with them however.

blofeld42 11-05-2012 02:39 AM

The local dealer was selling a BRZ limited for $35K, which just goes to show that the crack epidemic is more widespread than thought. That's more than a base Z, more than a BMW 128i, the same as an IS 250, about as much as a Z with the sports package, and nearly to 328i territory.

Some dope bought it at that price. I don't understand.

Supply and demand.

ShoShin 11-05-2012 02:52 PM

I just bought mine this weekend out of state @ Lithia Reno Subaru~$150 under msrp after the doc fee + title transfer fee. It was a bit long but I'll never forget that drive home back to LA. :) I took the scenic route and didn't pay much regard to break-in recommendations.

Oh my christ. If one person says that I'm going to shoot them. Learn other economic theorems; everyone and their mother is aware the car is overpriced due to supply and demand. There's actually more to it than that, plebe.

Whoa....didn't mean to strike a nerve.

Dorb 11-05-2012 06:33 PM

Just bought a WR Blue one Saturday 11/3.
Manufacturers suggested retail:$28688.00
They had taken a sharpie and wrote Market Adjustment: $3000.00
Dealers Price:$31,688.00

That shit didn't fly! Not sure what the prices were on the other 3 they had.

phiberoptik 11-06-2012 01:34 PM

3K not bad, I just called Subaru of Glendale, they said 7K markup above MSRP wtf?!?! seriously

I'm trying to get it for MSRP, anybody know any dealers in socal offering it at MSRP, i dont care what color or AT/MT, i just want one at MSRP!

brzee 11-06-2012 01:44 PM

Bob baker Subaru in San Diego has a white one coming mid November at msrp. But it's first come first serve. Best bet is out of state and ship it back. Got mine for msrp - 800.

Join the CO>CA Cartel... 1 month - MSRP or slightly under + shipping to your doorstep.. Check PMok's thread for details.

phiberoptik 11-06-2012 01:52 PM

I think I'm going to just get an FRS for MSRP - 1000

LOL. I think they liked my phone voice better. This was weeks ago when I called them and sniggled a bit when quoted the $7k markup. The guy then says he *may* be able to convince the boss to drop it by a whole $2k. On the bright side, perhaps they are doing a service for SOA and telling them they think the car is MSRP $7k underpriced.

ironchef 11-10-2012 10:13 PM

I'm surprised more people aren't willing to travel to get their cars. If you really want the car, take a couple days off work, travel to the NE, and pick one up. You'll still probably come out ahead vs waiting for months on end and/or buying above MSRP.
