2 Attachment(s)
Today i just got an email from Pete from WORKS and they just got their Resonated AB muffler delete and their Drop-in filter.. They will have one of the R-AB installed this weekend so that they can get a dyno result plus video/sound clip for everyone can check out. The R-AB is resonated with resonated tips to minimize the drone in the cabin. These parts will be available this weekend while he is dyno tuning.

They may have the WORKS Mid-Pipe (MP) and Axle Back Muffler (ABM) available but not sure if it will be available this saturday.

price for the R-AB is $349 but special intro price is $299
Attachment 19528

We've already dyno'd the drop in and got with on stock flash
+10+ HP @ 7000 RPM
+7+ TQ @ 6400 RPM

Drop in filter: $89 intro price is $79

Would like to know what is so special about this drop in filter that makes it have such better gains then all the others out that have average 3-5 hp gained.

I actually really like this axle back. Ready for some sound clips!

So the left tail pipe is unresonated?

Both tips are resonated, the one on the right side needed to have the long resonator cuz of the smooth bend it made to the tip. The left side dont need it cuz of the way it had to be welded onto the pipe that it distorts the airflow

Good to see WORKS is building BRZ/FR-S stuff now. I had a bunch of their parts on my Evos and the fit/finish was fantastic.

Tiremonkey0824 11-02-2012 11:32 AM

How do I get ahold of one?

They've used the same technology from their EVO X filters and made it available for the FRS/BRZ. On the EVO X this filter made 18+hp and 13+tq, they used the way it was constructed with multilayer 100% cotton fabric (not gauze) in stainless steel mesh reinforcement (not mild steel or aluminum). I cant copy and post the dyno results from their website but that was my car bone stock running on 76's 91 oct with the TSB chirping issue.

We'll get the sound clips posted once we get it on my car this saturday, the resonated part he uses isnt just one off the shelf. Its actually ones that they use on the evo which is better airflow and gets rid of drone. If you've had their muffler delete with their resonated intermediate pipe you will know what i mean its a deep throaty tone.

He has a package price available if you want to buy the pipe and filter together. Also he has one for Dyno flash/pipe/filter for this saturday at a very low price, if your local.

I emailed Works last night expressing interest in both products...hoping for an answer soon

Tylub 11-02-2012 04:36 PM

Oo I'm interested, now a dyno will seal the deal

Just got back from WORKS and got the R-AB installed.

First impression: Its looks so nice, the welds are clean and tips are perfect. Its very light and when we got it installed it fits perfect on the car, no issues with clearance. For the price you get more than what you pay for.
When we started the car up it sounded exactly like an EVO, not a 240sx or a civic but an EVO it has a VERY VERY deep throaty sound but not like a V8.

Driving impression
: NO drone what so ever, at 70 mph you will hear wind noise than the exhaust but when you punch it you will get the deep tone.

Once WORKS post their video of the car, ill post it here..

*Sorry the car is dirty from the rain*

That's a turbo engine...of course mods make bigger numbers on a turbo engine.

That's why it made 10hp and 7tq on our cars.

Yeah i know that, my point was that they used the same technology for our cars to get more power than the other filters out there.

No drone? So if you are cruising at 55 or 60 in 5th gear, you do not hear the exhaust at all? As like like stock? I wouldn't mind this to my Invidia N1 exhaust if this has no drone. That's my only complaint to the N1. Of course this exhaust still keeps the stock mid pipe. Hmmmm

I'll believe it when an independent source releases good dynos.

You will hear slight exhaust but not what you would expect for a muffler delete.. you can hear it a little more than stock, but not so much that you know you have a muffler delete. its sounds like a very expensive exhaust, you can hear the suby engine noise when you accelerate from stop and when your at idle but not loud at all.

Until I see some dynos on this I will be skeptical on a drop in filter doing 10 WHP. That is better then almost every single intake that is offered for this car. But I will definitely be interested if it is what your saying.

Is it oiled or dry? When can we expect to see the dynos? Ill assume the dynos were done with the hood open but ill ask anyway, were the dynos done with the hood opened or closed?

Thanks for the information. I really dig the AB, but the Perrin Header back is very nice and lately have been saving up for that. I might just get this in the mean time and get the Perrin when they come out with headers.

phenom86 11-04-2012 10:16 PM

Here is the link to the filter.. it has the dyno plus all the questions you have will be answered..

yayforaddison 11-04-2012 11:22 PM

Wow I REALLY like the sound!

soros151 11-04-2012 11:56 PM

That filter is a complete mindf***. Pardon my language.

Blue86 11-05-2012 12:09 AM

i'd be worried of oiled filters causing issues, or am I mistaken?

Don't they trap particles better and get dirtier easier?

brichard0625 11-05-2012 12:49 AM

hmmm i really like the sound of this and the price is not bad. The filter seems a little fishy tho...but ill reserve judgement until someone buys and dynos to see if they get the same gains or close

yayforaddison 11-05-2012 01:43 AM

Any hp gains on the axle back?

If you over oil it then the oil will get on the MAF. So just dont over oil it. Spray it lightly then let it sit over night to be extra cautious. I would expect that if you under oil it then it will just act like a regular non oiled filter, maybe not as well but I would rather to not over oil it seeping through. Someone clarify the last part for me.

Got it.

fenton 11-05-2012 03:50 PM

I really love the sound of this. If you could do a drive by video both on and off the throttle that would be awesome.

Frankly even the full catback systems aren't making hardly any power and i think this sounds better.

fenton 11-05-2012 04:01 PM

What are the coupon codes to get the intro price?

Have they considered doing a package deal with filter and exhaust for 350? I think alot of people would jump on it at that price.

Thanks,
