2nd gear powerslide ease?
I have a 2.0t genesis coupe and its REALLY easy to be in 2nd gear and be able to get the rear end out when I floor it midway in a turn while going anywhere from 15ish-30mph
Is the frs able to kick the rear end out at those speeds in 2nd gear with just throttle input? |
Yes.
|
Yeah most definitely.

Is the genesis rwd?
|
Pretty easy. Stupid easy in inclement weather even with TCS/VSC all the way on.

Good to hear

on stock tires yes.
upgrade tires...no more (easy) power overs |
:laughabove: :slap: is th FRS rwd ??!i hope he is jk about the genesis
|
Yeah when i slam my finger down on the right trigger it gets pretty wild and i usually have to move the stick over to the right to make sure don't spin out it's really pretty powerful and i race it always.
|
Pretty much the point of the car.
|
2nd gear roll-on powerslides? I mean...a little. With the shitty tires and bad pavement. Don't buy this if you need to do true power oversteer on command.
|
weight transfer. learn
|
Not really... Is your Genesis Coupe the one with 275hp or 200hp? This car has no torque and the only way I have gotten it sideways has been on wet roads or uneven pavement with traction control off. I'm not sure if you guys think "powerslide" in the same way that I think of it... I can get sideways easier in my stock '00 v6 Camaro on 245's, as the 3.8l v6 has shitloads of low-rpm torque... lol
|
I have the 210hp/223tq. But the torque comes on so low in the rpm range Its super easy to slide.
|
I'd get the new 2013 genesis coupe but that front end is just something can't get past.

This car will get sideways and drift, but I just wouldn't call it a powerslide, because as soon as the car is straight, the rpms are going to drop and the rear is going to hook up. My previous car was a '07 350z and that car could rip around any corner without the need to first oversteer and throw it into a slide, but the FR-S doesn't have the torque to break them loose without being in a slide to begin with, and that's just my definition of a "drift", not a "powerslide". |
Maybe I dont know the differences between Drifting and Powersliding, but with the right steering I can bring my ass end around really easily... 1st, 2nd, 3rd... Its less about the gear, and more about momentum...
Take that for whats its worth... I just drive the damn thing.. I'm no Racecar driver... I said Racecar... huh huh.. |
"It's a drifting machine! That's what it's made to do."
^ My dad's excuse for drifting my brand new FR-S today, the day we picked it. |
honestly, the frs will not do low rpm drifts (2nd gear going 15mph) very well compared to the 2.0t gencoupe. i tandem regularly with a genesis and he has the low end torque that is needed to sustain a drift at this speed while its really better for my frs should really be in first or i need to be going faster. all the controllable power is on the top end for the frs, and you really need to be shift locking if your trying to drift at that speed in the 86. just imo of course.

A quick flick of the wheel and your butt goes out. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
