Dealer just called me
I put a small deposit down for my SWP BRZ a few weeks ago. Sales guy told me 6-12 weeks. Ok, not a super patient guy but wtf why not.
Dealer calls me today, gives me some rundown on Subaru and production rates or some bullshit I wasn't really paying attention at that point. Then he starts apologizing, trying to blow me thru the phone. Finally he gets to the point...my car won't be here until MAY! :mad0260:WTF? MAY...are you kidding me? May will turn into July then the 2014 will be rolling out. Now, I want this car but 8 months later? As mentioned before, I am not a patient guy. Really tempted to bag the whole purchase at this point. He said I can have my deposit back (yeah, no shit)... This sounds like BS to me. :bs: Thoughts? I am calling another dealer! |
Buy an frs!

This is why I didn't preorder. I found the car I wanted that was actually at a dealership (several states away) and made the trip to pick it up. I was able to get my car in mid June, but if I had ordered a car at the same time that I started looking for the one I have now, I'd still be waiting.

Yeah search for a car on autotrader or cars.com. That's what I did and found what I wanted.
Subaru has production delays on pretty much all cars, it's hard to get any vehicle which is not on the lot within 3-4 months right now. |
Get your deposit back - look for an FR-S in your general area. Here in Austin they told me 4 months until I'd get one. Made a few calls around my area and am picking mine up this Sat. in Oklahoma.
Don't stay set on a particular dealer, with a little effort you shouldn't have trouble finding one! |
Didn't someone just put together a listing of all the in-stock BRZ in the nation?
There's no better reason for a roadtrip than buying a fantastic new sports car! :burnrubber: |

What dealer was this? Try Carter, I got mine there.

[QUOTE=FJ40crusher;533012] May will turn into July then the 2014 will be rolling out.QUOTE]
I would assume this is for the 2014 model. If you'll remember, 2013's started hitting the show rooms in May 2012. I think its been a few weeks, maybe months, since they said no more 2013 models will be preordered. Good luck with the wait, mine took 6+ months and ordered in March. |
And thats why i got whatever color they had. That.. and my old car was resuscitated just to live a few more days.
|
Yea, Took my deposit back from my first dealer, 2 days later got what I wanted from another(had to be an Automatic, wife), heard the same Bla Bla Bla, Limited... production #'s, % automatics... Obviously this other dealer didn't read the same rule book.

FJ40crusher,
Sounds like you went to the same dealer I did. I have waited seven months so far for my BRZ and SOA is telling me I will get my car in November. Of course, they told me Sept, then Oct, now Nov. Had I gone to Carter Subaru in Shoreline I would have had my car months ago. Their preorders all came in and are being driven every day while I wait, and wait, and wait. There is nothing special about my car that should make it so delayed. SOA denies it, and so do the dealers, but Subaru is skipping the slower dealerships regardless of when you placed your order. I have been apologized to hundreds of times for my car not being here yet, but still the folks at Subaru tell me this skipping is not happening. They go on with the old "we didn't anticipate the demand for this car" bullshit. The busier dealerships are getting and selling BRZs. I have proof. I have seen many preordered cars be delivered at other dealers, even though they were ordered months after I ordered mine. How can this be? Carter in Shoreline has sold more than 25 BRZs while the first two preordered BRZs at my dealership(ordered in March, April) are not even built yet. Nobody who preordered at Carter waited more than four months for their car to be delivered. Ridiculous customer service. When my car gets here, I will be asking for new snow tires to install, and some other goodies for waiting forever. I will never order another car from Subaru. I will also encourage everyone I meet to do the same. When I was a kid I learned how to wait on line. When I put my money down at the dealership I thought I was getting on line. Subaru just let thousands of people cut in line in front of me. This is WRONG! They still deny it.:mad0259: Good luck with your search, Pete |

like someone else said try www.cars.com.
They always updating with new cars everyday. So check every day, and u'll find the exact one in your region. You might have to travel 2-4 hours to get it, but its better than waiting 8 months imo. I had to get mine early cuz my old car blew out =) |
For those of us around back in February, it was announced how SOA would do dealer allocations. Dealers were given the number of cars their allocation would be from May to November, and that it would roughly be total/6 units per month. If the dealer was only allocated 3 cars, they might not come in till September-October. It's all about knowing the dealer's allocation amount and where in line you are. 2nd in line at a dealer getting 2 cars is worse than 20th in line at a dealer getting 40 cars. The dealership should have been up front when you place your deposit, but they're not always the best informed. (I had to tell my dealer when the ordering system was opening and how it would work.)
Orders are NOT filled by when you placed your order nationwide - just when you placed it at that dealer. And even then, sometimes order #2 came in before order #1 based on availability from SOA. And there's cars sitting on lots now - some dealers will even put the car on a transport and deliver it to you. Shop around, and be willing to not be picky on the color. You can be driving one within a week. Second round of allocations are from Dec-May for 2013 models. If your dealer already got their full first round allocation, then they have to wait for their second round if they're only allocated 2 cars - it could be April or May before it comes in. Or could be January. The dealers aren't told till the cars get there it seems. |

Why don't we have a listing of dealers allocations on this website? Seems SOA and dealerships are very reluctant to give out these numbers. Had I known this I would have taken a different approach to this purchase. If my car truly is in the second round of allocations, then I will not be recieving my car this month as told by my dealer and SOA. This will be the third time they lied to me. Unacceptable. |

My dealer told me their allocation when I orderd mine last month. Said they were alloted one more for this allocation whatever and should be here by the end of the year. I guess we shall see. I will be patient though allows me to save up more money for goodies when i get it!

I guess nothing is technically stopping it, but it'd be a pretty risky thing to try I'd guess. If you were to see it on the lot, you'd have some questions to ask I think. |
Mine ordered August and comign in Feb. 2013 :(
