Duckbill spoiler!

This car is going to get a great mix and match of TRD and SPT/STi parts once I buy it.

Thanks for the information guys; I have no doubt that Toyota is leaking all of this as they impatiently wait to show their baby to the world.

SubaruSam91 11-01-2011 10:28 PM

I wonder what these little pieces of joy will add to the price of the car

speed-wiz 11-01-2011 10:29 PM

The door stabilizer is an intriguing concept.

I was hoping to see a supercharger though.

Then you sir, are amazing! :respekt:

I like all that stuff, specifically the suspension upgrades. I'll take care of the performance parts

suprachica79 11-01-2011 10:31 PM

Loving that aero kit, will probably get it if its offered in usdm. This car just looks phenomenal!

alexdee 11-01-2011 10:33 PM

WOW!

Dave-ROR 11-01-2011 10:33 PM

lol I'm loving the daily leaks. Not loving a lot of those parts (some will be good, some will have better non trd pieces available and some are just not my thing).. but...

What do you think about the suspension stuff? Have you used TRD suspension upgrades at all? I notice your car selection in your sig... seems like you might have seen a track a time or two.

Guff 11-01-2011 10:37 PM

Wow! This looks great!

Andy 11-01-2011 10:37 PM

TRD Suspension, Well! I used to have an ST205 Celica GT-Four and had the TRD Coilover Suspension, not cheap! BUT AMAZING I loved it!
Was a bit harsh for day to day road use in the UK with our crap roads and potholes everywhere, but on decent roads and the track it was pure joy!

Yea that's what I was hoping for. I figured with all the Testing at the Nurburgring the car's TRD suspension package should be pretty awesome for the track.

t88 11-01-2011 10:41 PM

Must... resist the urge to sell soul to Satan... must wait until Subaru's version then sell soul...

I have never driven TRD suspension on the track. The only TRD suspension I've ever driven was on a MR2T and I don't even remember what it had (just TRD springs I think? I can't remember, this was over a decade ago). I'd assume it's special order Showa's or similar. I doubt it'll be a good as some of the aftermarket parts for track use (Showa's are GREAT but the chances that a TRD part will really be tuned specifically for the track isn't likely, it's not the target market), but I'm guessing they'll be very good for the street.

I'll leave mine stock until I have at least 2-3 weekends at the track under it's belt so I can see what I feel it needs changed. It's said to understeer, but it's mac strut so with a few upper plates we should be able to have caster and camber adjustability and toe adj stock of course, so alignment can tune some of that out. After that it'll depend on what the aftermarket provides for me. I'm a huge fan of custom Koni's with custom rate springs and threaded sleeves over the normal JDM brands that tend to favor understeer, or Penske, N1 type Showas, etc over that.. but that's serious money..

Whatever it is, whenever someone buys them I'd love for that person to send them to Koni to have them tested on their shock dyno, that's where most of the entry to mid level JDM stuff shows it's weaknesses. High end Showa shocks are flat out amazing, so if the TRD stuff uses something like that.. it should be impressive if they sorted spring rates well (and if not, just get custom rate springs).

Also they'd be able to provide spring rates I believe, which I'm not sure if TRD releases. I have a problem buying anything performance related with only marketing statements :P

I'm thinking
-SS lines
-Ducktail Spoiler
-Member Brace Set (if it is the same as what was on the Ring car, and not too expensive)

The rest don't seem worth the ridiculous price I'm sure they will want for them. Aftermarket will have better options.

oldskule 11-01-2011 10:44 PM

Absolutely loving that spoiler! Very subtle and not in your face like the huge wing spoiler. And the FT86 looks much better in this brochure than the other ones, probably because the lines are more evident.

MiguelAE86 11-01-2011 10:45 PM

LOL @ the giant Supra sig up there ^

ryridesmotox 11-01-2011 10:47 PM

Yea that spoiler looks sexy and the sway bars and tower braces are probably going to be necessary to counteract the under steer. I am not sure how true this is but... I heard from a buddy of mine who races alot, that the factories set up the car for understeer because it is easier for the everyday person to control. Hopefully a little camber adjustments will take care of that.

ichitaka05 11-01-2011 10:49 PM

See see. You hearing this Toyota! Most ppl loving the duck feet spoiler. Where's my royalty $? LMAO

Zgrinch 11-01-2011 10:49 PM

Sorry for the stupid question, but being new to after market kits, does the fact that it gets painted in the store/dealership, if you do not get black or white, present any issues? Will they be able to really match it up ? Would be curious as to your feedback, as I am think about metallic dark grey with this type of kit, but am afraid of color match issues.

Thanks

MrVito 11-01-2011 10:49 PM

I'm guessing you add all of the listed parts, plus Aluminum control arms from the STi (since the suspension is impreza based, I wouldn't be surprised if they are a direct bolt on) and a couple of other weight saving tidbits, maybe the ridiculous giant spoiler we saw on the Nurburgring car, and that's what the BRZ STi will be.

DC87 11-01-2011 10:50 PM

This looks awesome, love that front bumper especially... and the spoiler... I tend to prefer to keep my cars stock but so long as they aren't too ridiculously overpriced then I might be tempted!

suprachica79 11-01-2011 10:51 PM

I think a lot will depend on the price for me but id rather get a factory body kit that I think is subtle and meant for the car and matches the paint perfectly right off the bat then have to do it later.

If it's similar to what Lexsus charges for aftermarket upgrades? It'll be RAPE !
With a bit of research you can find out which major aftermarket tuning company makes anything offered by Lexus (save for the c/f engine cover) and can buy AND install it for almost 1/2 the price!

...p.s. I'm not feeling that rear chunk of plastic over the rear diffuser and 4 exhaust tips? Really?? Who's in for a single blue tipped disign? ;)

They will send it out, match it perfectly with the oem paint color, mount it but it will be $$$!

I knew it! :bellyroll: Where is your p/s of the convertible w/a duckbill spoiler!

Those TRD parts are going to be so expensive.

Dave-ROR 11-01-2011 10:54 PM

They do set cars up from the factory for understeer. It's safer for those who aren't as experienced in handling oversteer as others. Alignment can often fix it as can suspension tuning (change roll center, anti sway bar, spring rates, etc).
