Bumper Kind of Sags?
I've noticed this a few days after I bought it, but haven't been driving lately so completely forgot about it, until today. It's a minor thing, but it kind of bugs me...
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8293/7...5920f25c_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8297/7...e83d51d1_c.jpg See how the bumper/hood line on the left side is bigger than the right side? None of my friends noticed it until I mentioned it, but as the days go on, it's starting to bug me more and more. Do you think I could bring this into a dealership and get it fixed? Or do I just have to deal with it >_< And just FYI, the second picture was taken the day I got the car, with the first picture taken about a week after, it doesn't seem to be getting worse as I drive more, since the gap is about the same as today. Any ideas? |
Sure it's not the hood that is slightly bent? I know those things are a light weight alloy, the one at my dealership was slightly bent from someone closing it too hard.
|
i see it
you *may* be able to get the hinges adjusted so its not so obvious but i doubt the dealer would do it - they may get an associated panel beater to though... but doubtful... likely response is = 'they're all like that' |
they're all like that
|
That's why I got a dark color, it's less noticeable.
But I think that's a normal thing in cars, even my cousin's 2010 Benz c300 is like that. More noticeable than the FRS actually. |
They're not all like that, my friend has a firestorm FR-S, his is perfect.
|
The dealer should be able to make some small adjustments to eliminate the gap or at least make it less noticeable.

what am i looking for because I dont see any sagging.
|
i took my bumper off and reinstalled it and noticed the same thing...ended up being the black plastic moulding that is on top of the bumper and cushions the hood...see if adjusting that helps...
|
my rear sags too
wait that sounds aweful |
My BRZ hood/bumper does something very similar in that exact area. In fact, you can tell the gap on the passenger's side is slightly larger than the driver's side.

If it's sagging, get a front end bra mate
:bellyroll: |
:laughabove: See if Victoria's Secret makes one!

Here's some real saggin' for you.
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/att...-p91500052.jpg You can probably fix that with washers or something. I wouldn't notice it myself. |
They are all like that, in that they dont always line up perfect from the factory. The line between the hood and the bumper is curvy, not straight so its hard for the panel gaps to be absolutely consistent.
The worst offenders are BMW's their gaps between bodywork and front/rear bumpers are horrendous, The best? Have a look at as many new model Hyundai I30's, they have an even more difficult to line up panel gap and are alwyas perfect. Guess you guys are laughing but the panel gaps all round my mothers new I30 (Its called the ELANTRA GT over there) are the best i have ever seen on any car:confused0068:, Lexus included. Also the paint is so thick to the naked eye, much better than the thin stuff they are putting on our 86's The 86 is beutifully engineered but built as cheaply as possible. To my simple eyes its got no better build quality than a Nissan Versa |
I think its the hood... Get hood Dampers... The prop-rod only pushes up on that one side... Thats why you have that... its a very light weight hood and as such its flimsy... You could prolly flex it back... or it may fix itself over time... but fix the problem first... THE PROP-ROD.

i believe there is a rubber stop that you can adjust by twisting it. that's should work
|
My rear bumper where it met rear 1/4 was sagging...
