Cat back self install questions?

Hi guys!
I just ordered my car a couple of days ago and the dealership said its gonna take a month or 2 to arrive. So in the meantime, I've been doing a lot of research on the mods i wanna put on it. Mainly interior lighting change from the yellowish lights to bright white ones; exhaust; window tint, etc.
Now, I'm just wondering. Is it possible to install a new exhaust system by myself without those super high car thingys? The thing that lifts the car up the ground really high? Coz i dont have any of those things LOL. Are jack stands sufficient? I don't wanna be crushed while doing it LOL.
And no, professional installation is not an option. I wanna do it myself to get the full satisfaction :) im a car newbie btw thanks!:D

Can't tell if troll, or serious?

Easy if you have a jack and jack stands along with the right sockets.

Celica00 10-30-2012 07:35 PM

nah he's a 17 year old who's getting the car w/ the help of his parents. Dispect, you WILL need jack stands. and if youre gonna do it yourself and being a self proclaimed newbie , i'd highly recommend someone either help you, or dedicate some time

"super high car thingys" = troll

no man will refer to a lift as such otherwise

Calum 10-30-2012 07:50 PM

Hoist is the word you're looking for.

Exhaust is pretty easy. It could be time consuming as you learn the basics, but generally easy. The biggest problem is gonna be the confidence to start wrenching on your new baby.

if it is just an axle back just lay on your back...disconnect two bolts and spray silicone/wd-40 on hangers and the axleback comes right off...no jacks necessary...install is just as simple for the majority of the axlebacks out there...

what will fail?

invest on good jack and jack stands. or rhino race ramps

if you're too scared to work on your car then you shouldn't be modding it

What did you expect? Many on this forum always jump to call someone a troll. Then monkey-see-monkey-do mentality kicks in. This forum would have so many more members if people with sub 20 post counts or those who don't know anything aren't automatically accused of being trolls.

Plxdjake89 10-31-2012 12:35 AM

Sorry dude, I didn't mean to troll...........

read the 1st like, 6 posts all giving good info. he asked if he needs jack stands and got a sufficient answer 3 times over. but sadly being called a troll is like someone asking if youre mad. no matter what you say, they'll still think it.

uh ok

Dispect 10-31-2012 02:13 AM

I'm not even lying man. I have a slight claustrophobia. I'm really interested in learning all the stuff u guys know. That's the only reason I joined forums in the first place. I joined to learn not to troll or be trolled. Sigh. I hate people so much.

TuxedoCartman 10-31-2012 02:30 AM

If you're claustrophobic, or just have a fear of getting under a ton-and-a-half of metal up on jack stands, just find a local shop to do it. Ain't no shame in having work done by someone else if you're incapable, and it shouldn't cost you more than about $100 or so. But if you try and do it yourself, without the confidence you need to get it right or anyone with experience there to supervise, you may just screw something up and/ or get hurt.

Guff 10-31-2012 02:47 AM

Go to sleep guys. Like forrealz.
