Fr-s Price 27-28K

Hey everyone,

I have been in contact with a few dealers in the lower mainland area, they all seem to be singing the tune of 27-28k for the vehicle upon release. Any one else hear anything else?

side note: lets get some more activity going on in this B*tch!

Syrianto 10-31-2011 06:24 PM

That price doesn't seem too bad for Canadian pricing =D Could definitely have been worse

There's been plenty of activity lately too! So much has been released in these past few days

Eureka 10-31-2011 06:29 PM

Went to the dealer today and had them call their Scion head office. The sales person said a projected price of 30k (including freight etc.) plus tax. Mrsp at around 28k. This is in GTA area btw.

Mr.Jay 10-31-2011 06:30 PM

yea I have a friend that works for scion and when I went in to visit I had a nice little chat with the sales guy

not surprisingly they knew very little about the car compared to myself but one guy did mention that there was talks that 27k~ would be the cost for the car well speced but then again the same guy also said that 200hp was the minimum goal and that more hp is likely

I'm not sure if I should put down a deposit I'm hoping I can use my friend to get me a test drive without one.

Geard 10-31-2011 06:31 PM

Yea I guess but it definitely destroys Scions affordability aspect clean out the water!
Yea and were so damn close to seeing the official release as well! So pumped!

Eureka 10-31-2011 06:32 PM

This is Scion tho.. keep that in mind. The model that starts at 27-28k will probably be somewhat loaded already since they usually only have 1 trim.

Mr.Jay 10-31-2011 06:34 PM

I cant see a 7k mark up compared to the tc however unless there are lots of options

I really hope base is around 22-24 and if it is I'll buy one within the 1st year for sure but otherwise I'll wait until the 1st gen kinks are all sorted out and get the mid cycle refresh

Yea I have been harassing them for a few months now! Generally my knowledge of the vehicle is so much greater then the dealers haha.:bonk:

I have found though that the Richmond Openroad Toyota dealer is much more diligent and serious about the vehicle one of the sales guys has taken a personal interest in the vehicle! If you need a decent sales guy thats down to earth hit him up! His names Ahmed

I am personally dying to test drive mine!:burnrubber: ( have had a deposit on one for the last 5 months!)

Oh really? I went into the dealer today LETTING them take my money for a deposit. However they said since it's still far too early, they'll contact me when they receive the ordering info and have me order one myself :D

LOL That's the dealership I was refering too and thats the sales guy that knew the most lol I got his card and he promised me a test drive when he gets a car in

hey if we get enough people buying the car in the same area we should demand a groupbuy price what dealersip would say no when there are a group of people throwing money at them

Kind of dissapointing, but kind of makes sense to avoid canabilising tC sales. I hope that this is for High Spec with all options with a 22k-24k Low Spec.

Was this Don Valley Toyota?

MTD 11-01-2011 09:40 AM

Really depends on how the car is optioned in Canada. Our market typically doesnt have as many available models as the us and base model cars arent huge sellers here.

I would think that the FRS will be priced right around base Genesis and Civic Si pricing at around $25-27K.

Eighty Six 11-01-2011 12:29 PM

One thing that concers me is the direct comparison to the RX-8 in the leaked specs table. The starting price for an RX-8 is around $42K! in Canada, while I don't think they will price it that high I think we could be looking at at least $30K.

The CR-Z, one of the other cars it is compared to starts at $23K so really we could be looking at a range of anywhwere between 23-42K, $30K seem to fit nicely in the middle of that.

no_name 11-01-2011 01:13 PM

It wont be any more than the Genesis Coupe 2.0T, which is bigger, more powerful, more well equipped and has more complicated engineering (i.e. turbo). I predict it will cost more than the tC, but less than or equal to the the Gen Coupe. So 22-25k for the base model, maybe as high as 28 for the high spec.

It's actually aurora Toyota. I live a bit further north of Toronto so I just said GTA so that people will actually know where this was roughly.

Geard 11-02-2011 04:59 PM

Damnit with these new TRD options made available(dont know if well get them all)
The cars price could potentially grow lol. I'm not cheap but spending $30ish on a car that could look faster then it is is a little disheartening lol

Yea I'm loving the TRD stuff but the cost attached to them arent going to be worth it for looking fast

rather just keep stock look with deck spoiler and do mods myself

Good call sad but it is what it is haha.
Have you put a deposit down for one? there were 2 other people befor me who already reserved ones as well.

Henwee 11-03-2011 05:40 PM

Likely to marketed to compete with civic si/gti/mx5/gen coupe. So should be around 26k base and 29 prem trim.

Hey Mr. Jay since you have a friend who works at Scion can you ask him if it's possible to do a Group buy on this car? It would be awesome if we can all save on the car and which ever sales person we buy from would be very happy =D

My friend works as a promotion girl XD

I'm coming in to meet with the sales guy (he got a couple posters and stuff for me!!!) so I can discuss this with him then.

Ikaros 11-07-2011 10:07 PM

Sweet. If he works to make a quota he's gonna be one happy guy. Just process all our orders and just go on vacation for a month or 2. Oh btw which dealership are you going to?

Mr.Jay 11-07-2011 10:23 PM

richmond auto mall they are the only ones close to me taking deposits

scion kingsway however is allowing people to put their names down for a test drive once a car comes in for free if you havent signed up get on it

I'll prob go this weekend and report my findings

Ikaros 11-07-2011 10:48 PM

=O I'm close to Richmond auto mall too. How much deposit did you put down $100?

Mr.Jay 11-29-2011 05:32 PM

totally forgot about this thread

so I went in and put my deposit down poster is of FR-S concept not production car lame

mention the whole group buy and was told we wouldnt be able to get a discount of the cost of the car but we can group buy options if we have enough people interested

peazs 11-29-2011 10:34 PM

Does Scion have the no discount policy as well like Toyota?

Did he mention when they are getting them next year?

xc 11-29-2011 10:51 PM

I'm hoping for that price its coming out a turbo or supercharger?

I think none of those will be coming out unfortunately. Read somewhere about not enough space in the engine or that TRD has no plans on making them yet, but could be just rumors... ;o

Lol I kinda forgot about this thread too, with all the info leaks and motor shows.

But back to that group buy thing, I haven't put my deposit down yet, but I will buy from the Richmond Automall. I don't have a car right now and I think bussing there would be too much of a hassle. Is it a good idea to all put deposit down right now? I mean if they see a whole list full of willing buyers wouldn't they not want to give us a discount cause they wouldn't have enough stock.

peazs 12-04-2011 07:41 AM

As of Friday, 5 people have placed deposits down at Toyota in the Richmond Auto Mall. It's refundable. I doubt they will give discount though because group buy or not, there will be buyers for the car.

Ikaros 12-04-2011 01:10 PM

Yeah Mr.Jay went to ask them about the group buy thing. They said that they can't give a discount on the actual car it self but they can give discount on accessories. We're starting a group for the group buy, you wanna join?

peazs 12-04-2011 05:29 PM

I can't just yet. Still debating FR-S vs BRZ due to the interior as most people would consider. I do like the FR-S front more though... but it is missing the LEDs and fogs. ;o

Mr.Jay 12-04-2011 06:49 PM

yea its a 500 dollar deposit

its fine if we put it in at different times just gotta put it all down with one guy.

the cars themselves wont be discounted as it goes against their entire shtick but options and accessories can be haggled down

yeah there 5 deposits so far and these are the 1st 5 colours as I was told

white, red, black, blue and grey

Ikaros 12-04-2011 10:23 PM

Lol I still can't decide between blue or dark grey. Lets hope no one else puts their deposit down before I can get around to doing it on the 20th. Who was the guy you put the deposit down with?

ahmed is the guy I put my deposit with

Ikaros 12-04-2011 11:41 PM

Alright I'll make sure I ask for him when I make the deposit and mention the group buy thing.
