Scion Challenge SEMA Daniel Song

Wow, so Daniel Song, who I'm friends with is part of the Scion challenge. Hopefully he'll win! I'm definitely going to SEMA to support him.

Check out his car that he worked on for the challenge.

Moar...

dem00n 10-26-2012 09:59 AM

I'm more interested in performance specs, looks nice but those good looks aren't going to matter for shit on the track...

Any pics of the engine bay?

White64Goat 10-26-2012 12:10 PM

That sucker looks evil !!

CaptainSlow 10-26-2012 01:18 PM

Are those SSR Professors?

Silverdub 10-26-2012 01:48 PM

looking good, but i dont like the chrome lips, just sayin

CaptainSlow 10-26-2012 01:59 PM

Not chrome...polished aluminum

But yeah, looks a little off...just how they come, I think

Yes you are right, the wing, naca ducts, rollcage ,front diffusers and headlight intake scoop will have no effect on the track, :bonk:

Looks nice, wonder if its carbon film or actual carbon parts? Regardless it all flows nicely!!

Turbowned 10-26-2012 02:22 PM

Now that looks like a car I could get behind! I was afraid all these cars would end up looking like lame show queens, but I was clearly wrong!

Well that's the thing. This car is for the SCION challenge at SEMA. Scion gave three cars to three contestants and I believe $15,000 to modify it. Winner gets $10,000. Afterwards, they have to return the car.

I believe they modified it for the judges so they can win. Not moreso on the track.

But this guy Daniel is NO joke. He had TWO NSX's at one point. One was complete downforce, the other was a daily. Had a lambo gallardo, now a GTR as a daily, and a 5 series.

LeeMaster 10-26-2012 03:24 PM

It looks like my EVO IX car on GT5. Looks really good so far

HATED1 10-26-2012 03:25 PM

i love how people build these great cars only to have people put them down with an unneeded comment. I wish your friend the best of luck!

jadewbj 10-26-2012 03:29 PM

Trust me he could build a straight up race car and he would lose. I know this from experience.

Style 10-26-2012 04:40 PM

This looks better than the render that Scion was posting on IG and FB.

phenom86 10-26-2012 05:14 PM

Here is the pic of that car from AutoGuide.com

I don't believe there is only $15k in modifications on these cars.

Style 10-26-2012 06:04 PM

This is the most modded car out of all 3 of them. I think he has a pretty good chance of winning.

[|=(86)=|] 10-26-2012 06:15 PM

Wow! Hood vent reminds me of GT-R

DuMa 10-26-2012 06:17 PM

no way is that only $15k of mods. its a lot more

Agreed.

That supercharger kit must be $5-6k alone.

SnapOv3st3r 10-26-2012 06:51 PM

The carbon wrap another $3+k. I don't know if I like the APR wing better or the Rocket Bunny one. They both are bad ass.

ggpaul 10-26-2012 07:01 PM

All in all, I think Daniel has a big chance of winning.

ill roller 10-26-2012 07:42 PM

I think you're forgetting that the 15K could all go to parts if they or the shop they're affiliated with do all the labor.

ggpaul 10-26-2012 07:56 PM

I believe Daniel had 3 months such as the others to work on it. He ordered the parts and worked on it at his home. And I also believe that the 3 people (including Daniel) that were chosen to do the Scion challenge ,have been part of the "game" for a long time where they have their own team/connects to work on the car.

I'm sure they had budgeted their money and planned accordingly.

ultra 10-27-2012 08:00 AM

Totally badass...Only negative here is that somebody's pulled off that RWB look so well, so soon. :)

Mikes86 10-27-2012 05:15 PM

He did ome damn good work on this car! Can't wait to see and read about all three of them...

jadewbj 11-01-2012 11:11 AM

He got 3rd, just what I expected. They said they had adjusted the judging to account for concept and overcome the score sheet issue with the judging, guess not.

TouchMyHonda 11-01-2012 11:18 AM

Lol wow

Correct, badass but I don't think that it's up on the level of RWB.
I think that the work is on the same level of RWB but not the look.
If you have seen any RWB work up close in person, then you'll know what I'm talking about ;)

I would have liked his car to win though with the Jon Sibal Design!
