top speed

so what's the fastest you've gone in your frs so far?
and can it really top 160mph according to the dash?

QFry 10-25-2012 04:58 PM

i hit 132 in 6th (might have been slightly downhill)...

JLMtm 10-25-2012 05:00 PM

I've only gone 115 so far

kendalldwhite 10-25-2012 05:16 PM

90

mRdeMs83 10-25-2012 05:20 PM

110

jstn 10-25-2012 05:26 PM

Top speed spec is 147mph I think. I get scared on these skinny little prius tires around 120 though.

HotLava 10-25-2012 05:27 PM

On Youtube there's a BRZ in Germany that hits 140MPH an the autobahn. To get over 140 you probably need forced induction.

Im_SPEED 10-25-2012 07:01 PM

125mph with the windows down the passenger seat belt doesn't like that much lol thats why i keep it bucked now

Tanuki 10-25-2012 07:06 PM

I don't think I have been over 90mph yet

Lee358 10-25-2012 07:09 PM

120. A "riced out" G35X was tailgating me from a residential area all the way to an empty 6 lane highway and refused to go around me and revved up any chance he could. Looked at the speedo at the end and nearly shat myself. Haven't gone over 60 since then.

1uzGT86 10-25-2012 08:31 PM

I went 210 km last Night
Not the best road the car got a bit nervous, so did I for that matter

Kimsey47 10-25-2012 08:35 PM

Hit 100mph just so I could see the digital speedo show three digits without using KPH! BTW, on the topic of speedos, when going over 80mph has anyone noticed that their analog and digital start going off by a MPH or two?

RedRocket 10-25-2012 08:45 PM

109mph. It was slow moving up... I dont think I can hit 120..

JDMenrique 10-25-2012 09:04 PM

78mph i think, no more than that. still breaking her in

Texas BRZ 10-25-2012 09:12 PM

120 at the long straight of Texas World Speedway while running the 2.9 clockwise direction.

My '00 Civic Si with a drag inducing wing did 140, current RXS-S does 137. I think the twins with the same weight/power ratio and even better aerodynamics should do at least 140 off the showroom floor.

akuhei 10-25-2012 09:19 PM

I've hit 125, but ran out of road to keep pushing it higher.

Tiremonkey0824 10-25-2012 10:01 PM

^^^^^^pretty sure there is nothing that any law enforcement officer can do about anybody saying how fast they have gone in their car on a forum. As a matter of fact you could say it to the officer's face and nothing could be done. You have to be caught in the act.

jmaryt 10-25-2012 10:19 PM

this is correct!

Synack 10-25-2012 10:23 PM

As soon as I get it back I'm going to attempt to drive the needle past 160. GoPro attached to the car though, no taking pictures one-handed at those speeds.

My 300whp 370Z had no problem doing 160. My FR-S has more power so it shouldn't have a problem.

But I've done 135 so far...

Maybe mine will be the fastest top speed in the states if I break 140-150??

No, it's all hearsay and even with photographic/video proof of you doing it.

The thing that you should worry about as far as photographic/video proof of is your warranty. I know Toyota/Scion/Subaru use and troll these forums, not for these purposes but if you have video/photos of you possibly "abusing" your vehicle, they can certainly use this evidence to void any warranties that you have on your vehicle.

This includes track time, modifications, burnouts, donuts, etc. If these videos/photos show you and/or your license plate or some sort of identifier then when you bring in your car because the clutch is slipping then they can use it against a warranty claim. And just FYI, changing your tranny fluid might be a good idea for the simple fact that some of the metal shards will be discarded in the change over. Some places (MITSUBISHI) will deny a warranty for something as trivial as that.

Regardless, insurance agents also read forums like this and who knows - maybe they'll do a cross reference check on your car make/model, location and/or license number just out of curiosity to see if you happen to be insured with their company. If so, wackiness might ensue.

But, don't bother listening to me since I don't know shit.
You go on being an Internet tough guy/rebel/racer.

Shooting someone in the head and breaking a traffic law are 2 very different things. His logic is true though. You might be able to get in trouble if you go to a police station and tell them to take you in for speeding in excess or whatever. It's a victimless crime so I can't see them doing anything without evidence. Not worth their time.

Wow do you really think Toyota would employ someone to search the internet and youtube for potential warranty violations so they could avoid paying for a clutch? That makes little sense from a business cost. It's far cheaper to just repair the vehicle unless there is physical evidence of abuse.

Bro I think Tiremonkey is right, not to the far extend of saying it to a policeman's face, as you would be accepting guilt, but to the extend of being able to type any number you want on your computer and being able to press enter. Mistakes happen, too.

Like Synack said, this is a victimless crime. If you've ever tried to fight a speeding ticket you would know that if ANY mistakes are made on the ticket by the officer than the ticket can and most likely will be dismissed. Also the officer would have to have the exact speed documented and backed with a reading on a radar speed gun and also the location of where this speed was accomplished. And I'm pretty sure that insurance agents don't spend their free time hunting down people on forums just to ruin their insurance rates or ensue any "wackiness". So to conclude my response you sound like you don't know shit, and I never said that I was "an Internet tough guy/rebel/racer", just happened to find your post to be kind of bitchy and irrational.

Synack 10-25-2012 11:38 PM

Let's get back on topic, does anyone know the fastest they've seen any other BRZ/FR-S/GT86 go? I haven't seen faster than 135 yet.

Tiremonkey0824 10-25-2012 11:40 PM

There's actually a video of somebody doing 153 mph. Gonna try and find the video.

EDIT:sorry it was 147

That's absurd, and it took forever. Likely downhill too. My new goal is 170.

Skywgn1 10-26-2012 12:32 AM

I have only been up to 126MPH. I think I was on a track.....right?
Anyway, there is a dyno speed test that shows redline in 6th is 169MPH. Of course you don't have the resistance but it was still pretty cool.

nzer 10-26-2012 12:37 AM

106 (170kph) on track - so no law breaking there!

Would have been quicker but kept stuffing up the sweeper into the front straight as I'm not a very good driver!!!

jstans84 10-26-2012 01:01 AM

I hit 80MPH a few times, but only because I was on roads that had a 70MPH speed limit and in Georgia 10 over is usually fine on the interstate.

I'm not an asshole that is trying to kill myself or someone else, so I won't go any faster than that on a public road. (Unless of course I'm on that 85mph highway in Texas in which case I would do 85)

I'm secretly hoping that posted 85 will prove to be contagious and other highways will catch it :happyanim:

I actually have :)

Got pulled over in that '00 Civic one night for a minor speeding infraction(57 in a 45, speed zone changed from 55) and the cop immediately started asking me how much I enjoyed the car because he has a silver '99 Si. During our conversation he asked what was the fastest I've gotten it up to and I told him, because as the others have said, you have to be seen by a cop breaking the law. Video however is different. A cop watches the video, they can come get you. Happened to that Lamborghini guy in Arizona I believe.

dori. 10-26-2012 06:24 AM

uh, 125

be6sti 10-26-2012 07:35 AM

I went 88 once.... Then I disappeared leaving only a pair of flaming skid marks O.O

Agreed. I'm pretty sure they eventually still have to prove you actually shot somebody in the face...

I was doing 198mph in a school zone... hold on a sec there's somebody knocking at my door.

diirk 10-26-2012 10:05 AM

I managed at least 115 on the front straight at Willow Springs. I was still accelerating but wasn't looking at the speedo since I was watching for my braking point.
