2800000 Japanese yen = 35017.6400 US dollars

bestwheelbase 10-25-2012 01:47 AM

Is that oil cooler special to this model, or standard on all 86/FRS?

86 in Japan ranges from 2.4m to 3m yen.

this Racing spec is cheaper than the JDM top spec GT Limited.

you can't just do a direct comparision as cars in US are always cheaper than other countries.

oil cooler is specific to Racing spec but i'd think they can be fitted to standard 86/FRS.

What about it appeals to you?

First thing I spotted was the curvy A-pillar bars which I must admit -- made me cringe a little.

Surok 10-25-2012 03:02 AM

yeah that cage is useless.

I would not run it for the track but for a show car it looks ok. But yeah not the best setup. I wonder why they did that if this is supposed to be a race ready version, why not go through the dash?

TouchMyHonda 10-25-2012 03:26 AM

Just a collector item with a lot of useless thrills lol.

ichitaka05 10-25-2012 03:43 AM

FYI it's not race ready 86. It's just race ready parts. They already announce race spec 86... Search & find

definitely not race ready as there is no kill switch, fire extingisher etc. but they are selling this as a complete car called "86 Racing" at 2.8m yen.

jadewbj 10-25-2012 09:26 AM

I like the brake ducts and the oil cooler a lot!

Yeah, pretty much base w the goods.

Cheaper than GT Limited or GT

Hanakuso 10-25-2012 02:04 PM

I'd like to see some pics and pricing on that oil cooler

DuMa 10-25-2012 02:44 PM

?? Steelies? You can get em anywhere at any time. Subaru puts steelies on all of their RA type models because they know that you will put aftermarket wheels on later.

Love, love the cooler and ducts.

Pretty meh on the cage, mats, hooks and Takatas.

Turbowned 10-25-2012 02:58 PM

Sweet! Let's get some of those brake ducts and floor mats shipped over here ;)

Mats won't properly fit LHD cars

Yep. I love them! Sadly they are not available on the US cars. You've got to buy them separately.

Didn't notice the ducts at first - Wubs! I hear ya on the cage, it's definitely meh.

Hooks and Takatas are fun, but it's that sealed engine which brings everything together.

ill roller 10-25-2012 03:06 PM

Damn! OEM dash escape cage, awesome!

ML 10-25-2012 03:08 PM

Why such skinny tires? and what do they mean by "sealed" engine?

Mat anchors be damned! Or is the actual floor pan shape different?

I don't care, I'm getting a BRZ anyway.

Guff 10-25-2012 03:31 PM

Yeah, what's a sealed engine?

Also, factory 4-points are JDM AS FUHHHHH. I want.

It's basically completely opposite to our design so probably both the anchors and shape will be off. It's the same thing as the dash

If RHD mats did fit properly I would be all over this

Usually it is an engine with at least two seals that will prevent someone from cracking the engine open to bore, stroke, "build", etc.

Thus it keeps a level playing field in racing. Where the only difference will be 2-3hp.

cf6mech 10-25-2012 11:12 PM

Racing harness missing anti-submarining belts,.....WTF?

akuhei 10-26-2012 12:27 PM

Totally missed the brake ducts. Definitely want those...

[|=(86)=|] 10-26-2012 12:55 PM

props on the user name

xwd 10-26-2012 01:05 PM

Heh looks like a "track day" racer. I don't really get it with the crappy looking roll cage.

_hollywood 10-26-2012 01:49 PM

Weird that the cage doesnt go thru the dash even though i thought that was one of the things they bragged about, not having to cut your dash to fit a rollcage...

I want to see the parts that make the engine sealed, would be cool to add to our engines even if its just for a little comsmetic change

Circuit Motorsports 10-26-2012 02:27 PM

Coolest thing are the ducts and cooler. Ducts look Boss, I like how they are underslung and not replacing the fog covers.

Those rear mats are awesome. Better than our stupid square mats that move around.

Skinny tires and 'steelies' are just cheap OE choices for the owner to purchase proper track wheels/tires.

Sealing an engine (via non removable bolts, think security door screws) and usually with a 'seal of approval' keeps competitors from tearing into the internals for the sneaky-sneak approach to winning races/faster car in a 'spec' series, like the Spec Miata or Sealed spec Miata groups here in the states.

Yeah, bring on the ducts and the proper floor mats for LHD.
