NOOOOOOOOOOO!

i was on my way back home from work, took a turn at about 25 and the brake calipers didnt feel like they were making full contact. So i hit the brake pedal to the floor and the abs did not go on. My car went horizontal at that moment and then it hit a rock wall, all the damage is in the rear right quarter panel and it is in the shop right now being checked out. The worst thing is that i told Toyota that the brake failed once before, when i first got the car the pedal felt different than what it usually felt like. So now im waiting.......my bad on the vertical thing i meant horizontal, i was frustrated whale writhing this.

So... Oversteer followed by you slamming on the brakes, which won't help correct the steer anyways?

RL_BRZ 10-21-2012 09:40 AM

Sorry to here that... I hope nothing happened to you during the incident... I hoping the dealer will covered all the repair?

kosoku 10-21-2012 10:08 AM

Have there been and other brake issues reported by scion/Toyota/Subaru?

DarkSunrise 10-21-2012 10:10 AM

Are you saying you thought the brakes didn't work so you slammed on them in the middle of a 25 mph turn and spun out into a rock wall?

a18ttc 10-21-2012 10:58 AM

Brake failure or driver failure? Place your bets ladies and gentlemen.

sevenmgte 10-21-2012 04:27 PM

Was there a crub and two fents involved? How about some bricks or burshes?

But seriously, that sucks to hear.

Bristecom 10-21-2012 08:59 PM

That definitely sucks if one of your brake calipers stopped working but why would you slam on your brakes if you knew something was wrong with them? If you had been more gentle with them, you likely wouldn't have spun. But that's kind of weird if there was no brake light warning and that the ESC couldn't make up for it (unless it turned itself off or perhaps you turned it off?) Still, was there no warning light?

that is what i have been trying to look up.

QFry 10-22-2012 04:06 AM

i am a little confused...did you lose brakes before going into the corner at 25, were you braking mid corner or did you need to stop right after making the turn? i am assuming you were braking while going through the corner at 25...if so were you braking because you were already sliding? if so that could explain the no ABS...tires stopped moving even if car didnt. Had you been driving hard prior to this incident and possibly had brake fade (ive had this happen at the track) or was it on cool brakes?

Justin.b 10-22-2012 09:07 AM

So all you did was let completely off the accelerator and then slammed the brakes mid-turn, right? You didn't do anything more like slathering armor all or crisco on the tread of your tires, did you?

I can't see hoe this accident could be avoided. I believe you have a strong legal case against Toyota, Subaru and their component suppliers for the braking components including and especially the brake pedal.

Seek legal counsel immediately before making any statements to insurance. I think you may also have suffered severe soft tissue injury.
