teased & unpleased
Rant of the day: I guess I am just behind on all of this....Let me tell you about my little "situation"
-I don't own an FR-S (probably not going to buy one anytime soon but I truly LOVE the car and droll over it every time I see one). -I have only physically sat in one at a dealership. -Upset that a road test was never arranged. I have no idea how it rides. -I've watched a bunch of YouTube vids about driver experiences and reviews..etc...but it's all a tease for me. -NJ (south/central) isn't filled with tons of these yet so it's hard to find someone who wants to show me what the FR-S is capable of. I have one friend who might buy, but he's trying to sell his s13 Silvia first. -Wishing there was someone: aka a friendly guy/gal nearby that could pick me up and give me a quick ride (I'll be happy with a few donuts in a parking lot or a couple laps around a housing development). I'm easy to please. Alright......just kidding about the picking me up part...unless I run into someone at a Wawa or a gas station I still might just ask anyway. Be prepared for a short little blonde girl tapping on your window to ask for a quick ride...I'll buy you a sandwich in return. Or even a coffee, if you'd like. Anyone in this same boat? I feel like most people on this site already own a FR-S. Don't mind my random rant. I just want to drive it already, without dealing with salesmen and contracts! Sick of them calling me (the dealership wants me to commit to buy the car BEFORE I test drive it...LOFL. Figure that one out. :iono: EDIT: for clarification on this OP - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=20184&page=5 |
Jersey Shore general thread?

Careful asking to be picked up, never know what kinda creeps lurk on this site. XP
|
If I lived out there I'd help you out.
|
What are the dealerships asking you to commit? I found a dealer that was getting what I wanted in 3 weeks. I made a deposit on the car after I was assured it was 100% refundable if I didn't want to buy the car after I saw it and road tested it. What's wrong with that? I assured myself of a car if I liked it and I lost nothing if I didn't like it. Won't your dealers do the same thing?
|
I don't own one (yet), but I did test drive one 2 weeks ago (and placed my order). It's a great car to drive! My suggestion is just find someone in the regional section, or go to a local meet-up.

I reserved mine and didn't get to test drive it. Lol. I could have waited a day and done a drive at a different dealership but I just took the risk. I mean I had already sold my STi and needed a car. Lol
|
Weird, they have them on the lot here. Maybe take a trip on a weekend to find one to test drive just so you know?
|
I think everyone would like to give this little blonde girl a ride
|
Two things:
If the dealers are really that intimidating in your area, both Subaru AND Scion, then that sucks. It's really not too safe for a little blond girl to suggest test driving with a total stranger on the web and you are still better off "wasting" a dealer's time. Obviously dealers wish that everyone that walks in is ready to buy almost immediately but that just is a pipe dream. Unless you have no chance in hell of getting the car in the next year, you are not exactly wasting anybody's time. Even better, if you aren't ready to be "sold"; perhaps if there was a "meet" of owners in your area you could nonchalantly show up, ideally with a friend, maybe even a male friend. Then perhaps you can chat it up and maybe find out about the car, see some parking lot action etc. Its not that poweful a car, and donuts arent *that* easy for you to induce on a dry surface unless you work it a bit. Lotsa fun on rainy days though. |
Down south I haven't seen any problems with test driving. Now I speak only for FR-S. I hear the BRZ is a different story.
|
I had to drive 400 miles to get mine. But I test drove mine with no problem at 3 dealerships.
|
holy shit guys, I've never seen a thread get replies this quickly. Not even a new arm rest thread.
|
I am not trying to put any money down just to drive it. I don't understand why I'd have to do that. The dealership is in Freehold. Maybe things have changed since then... My next plan is to road trip around the state and check out other dealerships. Maybe I'll have better luck elsewhere?
|
Yeah, some dealerships are just ****s. Learned that recently when a friend was trying to buy an SRT-8 Cherokee. They told him he'd have to sign an intent to purchase form just to be able to drive it around in the PARKING LOT.
Just find a different dealer...plenty of cool ones out there. |
If a dealership seriously wants a deposit just to give a road test, they are OFF my list of places to buy the car. That is a crap way of treating people, unless people are behaving like animalsor something, they need better courtesy.
Sounds like a brush off to me, like they dont think you could buy the car. That sucks too. They are OUT! |
typical jersey! lol jk. down south the dealerships couldn't wait to have me in to the dealership to test drive. the cars are in short demand here as well, but i was able to take out an automatic and when i said i was interested in the manuel only they put me on a call list to let me know when one came in so i could come in to test drive it. sorry you're not having the same luck. it might also depend on the sales rep. try contacting the internet sales team through the dealership website, thats how i did it.

But I might have a disturbed mind, due to much lurking around on suspicious sites:thumbup: |

she's either a car guy fantasy: pick up this gorgeous for a nice coffee, then head to mountain roads for a ride, preferably one where I accelerate so hard at the corner that her shirt unbuttoned, then maybe even wrap up the day with an unforgettable dinner to get to know her better... or, you know. |
I'm right in Freehold. Always driving around 18 and 35/36. I've only seen one other FR-S in my ventures sadly. There aren't that many around here :(
Edit: Freehold dealership? Which one? If it's Dodge/Subaru/etc on 9 the owner is family and they have a Limited BRZ on hand at the moment. |

Anyways Jerzgirl I can give you a ride or maybe even let you take it out for a spin but... how good are you at handling a stick. ooooooh let the trolling begin. :bellyroll: on a more serious note, looks like it's gonna be a wet day so now you got me wanting to spin some donuts in the lot Quote:

They're bastards. Dealt with them initially. DHC sucks all around. Anyways, I'm always around and Ultrarev is ~15 minutes from where I live. Wouldn't mind bringing my FR-S around.

My experience was: find one at a dealership, get to test drive it, fell in love and bought it. I would let you have a ride if I were out that way. Good luck finding a non creep.
|
I wish there was a Scion First Drive Event still around. I had the opportunity to sign up when it was out my way but ended up not going to due a conflicting event. This would be perfect, safe, and hassle free.

this thread makes me laugh.
hopefully a meet occurs near ur area so u can check out the car with lots of witnesses lol no wonder there's only like 3 girls on this board |
