Wheel Directory: SSR Professor MS3 18x8.0 +37 / 18x9.0 +37
http://www.darrendriven.com/ft86/title.png
The SSR Professor MS3 18x8.0J +37 Front and 18x9.0J +37 with Falken FK453 225/40-18 all around makes for a nice stylish street wheel/tire combination not to make it overly tenacious on grip, or harsh on FR-S's modest power ranges, riding very comfortably and quietly, but retaining every character or response and feedback as summer street compound/construction. It's an excellent way to add a bit more grip for your tastes. A tire for those who still drive mostly in the streets combining the latest tire technology and balance of comfort, quiet, lasting, consistent, and predictable, mild-character performance tire with highly controllable rise and falloff of grip levels to make it safe and sound for cars like the FR-S. It's a bit heavier than the now discontinued, SSR Type C-RS I was using up to this point, but the darty, grippy, hard-core and wonderful, Falken RT615K is now reserved for the raceway. Saving the precious rubber for the hard-driving duties, and preventing the heat-cycle deterioration of race compounds. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8055/8...d756044f_b.jpg Scion FRS by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8463/8...926b7a57_b.jpg OEM Audio+ Reference 400 in white by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8476/8...d15b351d_b.jpg Scion FRS by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8456/8...73415543_b.jpg On my Driveway by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr Same wheels on Ryan's Blue FR-S with Hotchkis down springs. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8455/8...ba04d3e8_b.jpg 86 Fest 2012 - CA Speedway by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr Same wheels on Ryan's Blue FR-S with Hotchkis down springs. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8450/8...22c61e6b_b.jpg Tanabe USA Garage Sale/ Car Meet by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8170/8...021e6e15_b.jpg Tanabe USA Garage Sale/ Car Meet by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8034/8...9e197d7928.jpg Cargo of my FRS today... by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8173/8...31ae96d2_b.jpg On my Driveway by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8035/8...780451cc_b.jpg 194438_435794559791095_1045596460_o by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr Racing still done on appropriate Type C and Falken RT615K |

Love the set up. I want to ask you if there is any rubbing issues and what type of disk did you order for these wheels? I see that 18x8 and 18x9 with +37 offset is offered with disk of SL (Super Low) or NR (Normal).
Also - where did you purchase these wheels from. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Looks very elegant :)

Normal Disk. Bought directly from SSR USA, the same firm in the USA as Tanabe USA, Torrance CA. |
Whats the wait of SSRs? The SP3 caught my eye but how long is the wait?
Car looks amazing |

@Moto-P Hey moto, do you remember your alignment at the time of this setup?
|
Are those SSR wheels your track wheels?
|
Those fitments look perfect. Not an extreme drop and no poke, just right.
Well done sir. Truly well done. |

MAny will tout the advantages of weights in grams and ounces, and durability of forged vs cast. Product catalogs are really adamant about stuff like this. But the bottom line of all this is for durability, it simply has to be strong enough with design and materials used, and not so much in how it was forged or cast, for the most part. And damage will occur if impacted for any wheels where repairs may or may not be feasible regardless of design, as long as forces are high enough, which it is, on most occasions where the wheels do see damages. As for performance, the 1 second or so advantage any wheels may give for being lighter, simply isn't critical to driving pleasure when trophies in racing is not at stake, and that it is a very small difference when compared to choice of proper wheel size, alignment, suspension setup, driver inconsistencies, and tire compounds, pressures, sizes, profiles, wheel offsets, and other much larger variables that do affect handling greatly. I am not saying all wheels are perfect down to the cheapest knock off, but you get the point I think. One just has to choose something, and choose it with some knowledge of specification beyond that of listed parameters and numbers on any product catalog or random internet chatter. :burnrubber::iono::bonk::party0030::happyanim::pad dle::thumbup::eyebulge: PS. I've broken my share of BBS, SSR, RAYS, and others, as well as cheaper alternatives, and at the same time, won races with $190/each Panasports on my AE86 as well as $890/each custom made TE37 too... So its all about the setup of 100's of other factors, and wheel weights are simply a smaller factor in reality... |
Can someone please tell me where I can buy those wheels?
