Koteman's whiteout

So I'm on my way to Miami to pick up my frs finally right now.

JoeBoxer 10-12-2012 02:25 AM

Congrats, be safe and don't use the cruise control on the way back.

koteman 10-12-2012 03:05 AM

How should I drive the way back since I know it's under 4k for 1000 miles but then the ecu learns in 100 so what do u think is best

Silverdub 10-12-2012 09:21 AM

i think its best to start the car, put your foot to the floor, drop the clutch and go go go... thats what i did right out of the dealership and car is still going amazing! all those break-in procedures are rumors

fl_speed001 10-12-2012 09:30 AM

Heading to Kendall Toyota by any chance? Saw they just got a couple Whiteouts and was trying to get my hands on one but couldn't get them to commit to them actually being "available".

GMASTER6 10-12-2012 09:31 AM

watch it over at the first 1000km with low changes and try not to overload the engine(full throttle or 3/4 of the throttle with 2000rpm or something)..after the 1000km its better to drive throttle and lift off's and not steady step on the gas...with this way the engine will "open" faster and reach its ideal performance faster...If you want to do a decent break-in procedure despite all this,a good way is to increase 500rpm for every 500km you drive after the 1000km distance

koteman 10-12-2012 10:10 AM

Headquarter Toyota. They have like 7 frs in the have another white out manual available too. Btw I made it here safe just waiting to check out of this super sketchy hotel and go get the car.

I had them work a good deal cause I had to drive down and stuff. I told them my max and they worked to fit to that out the door and faxed me final paper work with manager signatures so let hope it's legit.

Beyer Subaru 10-12-2012 11:10 AM

Proper Break-In:
Don't race the engine. No slamming on the gas and shifting under 4k rpm.
Don't slam on the brakes. This is just the same when you get new pads/rotors. Wear them in slow.
Don't use cruise control.

This is a constant debate but I feel like the Mfr's sets these rules forth for a reason.

Cograts on the new car! Have fun and drive safe.

I want to start on my interior but at the same time it looks nice how it is. I'm going to slowly change all the accents to blue everywhere because I hate red. Should I just go for it and have blue and red for awhile or should I buy parts slowly and so more at once. I don't have much money so it's gonna take awhile to do all of it. Especially the leather seats.

Installed a small amp and 2 selenium 6.5s I had laying in a closet. And took apart all my gauge swap and stuff to see how many leds to order for a led swap and did one with the one led I had laying around.

That's going to be a lot of work swapping those LEDs. Look forward to the results.

koteman 11-26-2012 10:18 AM

Yup but gonna be worth it in hate the red and orange and white randomly everywhere. Gonna slowly do the red stitching to blue also that's gonna suck

as far as break in i'm keeping it under 4k, but have given it full throttle a few times. not lugging the engine or anything, but maybe 2-4k full throttle in 2nd. since the ecu is learning in the first 100 i thought it would be good to give it some full throttle.

koteman 11-26-2012 04:47 PM

I'm way past break in now

how are those upper RPM's feeling? i still have a good ways to go till i hit 1000

koteman 11-27-2012 10:08 AM

Once past 4.5k its like a new car. I played in the 3-4k rang in break in and that's the dead area with the torque dip. Even though that area was even more fun tan my tc but 4.5-7k is so much more pull. But want to get rid of that dip and smooth out the dip and get some more powerful over the whole power band but that won't be till after graduating and getting good a real job till I have the money for a tune and stuff like that. Right now only small cosmetic and sound stuff to enjoy my daily commute more.

I would do it slowly that way you have time to appreciate all your upgrades. I admire that you have the patience to swith all those LEDs over.
