A friend caught this outside of his office today and posted on his instagram. He heard the crash but doesn't know how it happened. Obviously they should not have been doing what they were doing though...

I don't get it.. the car is so easy to drive and so forgiving, what's up with all these oopsies?

Seriously though, leave the heroic moves on the track.. enjoy the simple and elegant drivability of this car on the public roads!

nab335 10-11-2012 03:52 AM

wow WTF!!! i wanna hear the story behind this first but theres no way that could have happened unless the driver made a really stupid decision seems like he probably turned off all traction control and didnt know how to control it because otherwise that seems impossible unless you still haven't really learned how to drive yet

White64Goat 10-11-2012 10:22 AM

"I SWEAR I was pushing on the brake pedal"...................

you can slide a pretty good distance on wet grass at 5 mph, he could of swerved out of someones way that he almost got into a crash with and slid.

i think on wet grass you can slide up to 80 ft at 10-15 mph, maybe further?

BioRage 10-11-2012 10:42 AM

6 FAST 6 FURIOUS.

That explains why they are using a BRZ now.

Spartan65 10-11-2012 10:56 AM

The guy with his hands in his pockets is like 16? 17? He must be the driver, maybe he will sue Scion cause his gas pedal got stuck?

ipothas 10-11-2012 11:02 AM

If he is a member of this forum I'd love to hear what really happened.

I'm getting sick of hearing about all these crashes. Everytime I see a new one, all I can think is my insurance just went up...lol

Nevermore 10-11-2012 01:54 PM

Am I the only one wondering how it even got over the curb?

/disclaimer For those that don't get it, it's a joke about how low the car sits.

ExWhyZer0 10-11-2012 02:35 PM

Dammit this is why we can't have nice things lol. I truly hope it wasn't something the driver did and maybe there were others at fault. Otherwise, thats a bad look -_-.

chulooz 10-11-2012 03:21 PM

Insurance still at a steady clime... Is the scion above suabru yet?

whataboutbob 10-11-2012 03:25 PM

It was raining in SD today. Not sure if this was local or not. Wet roads could have played into this accident.

Why do you guys say stupid shit like that. :sigh:

HunterGreene 10-11-2012 03:31 PM

Sucks, hope everyone was ok.

On the other hand, maybe the guy was just looking to get into work more quickly.

While I am at it, going off topic, is anyone else tired of instagram already?

Didn't rain yesterday.

driftartist 10-11-2012 08:06 PM

to disable traction control, you have to understand how to control traction.

DBacon1052 10-11-2012 08:13 PM

Really... He crashed into a building??? Please just turn the traction control back on for everyone's sake. I really hope that he was trying to avoid a crash because that's just embarrassing.

_F-R-S_ 10-11-2012 08:16 PM

I actually think silver is the nicest looking color available. If I had the choice I would definitely choose it over my raven..

_F-R-S_ 10-11-2012 08:21 PM

white is the most wanted

DBacon1052 10-11-2012 08:37 PM

I like the white but I'd rather have orange or silver. I actually love my raven but only when its clean:(

DaJo 10-11-2012 08:39 PM

Someone please enlighten us with the story behind this tragedy of our beloved fallen FR-S comrade. :bellyroll: R.I.P. :sigh:

So many damn accidents already... I swear if I hear another one within this month, I'm going to go to the dealer and just buy them all so no one else can crash them.

sofrsnsokleen 10-11-2012 08:41 PM

obviously someone who has no logic on how a light rear wheel car handles. My guess is he put it in sport mode, disable traction, and tried to show off, got scared, lost control, and crashed.

FReSh 10-11-2012 09:01 PM

Very unfortunate. He/She should have tried whatever they were trying in a parking lot or at the track, not in the front yard of this building... That is assuming it wasn't pure accident avoidance. Who knows, them hitting the building could have saved a pedestrian or other driver...

Is this in Mira Mesa/Sorrento Valley?

Lonewolf 10-11-2012 09:18 PM

Cha-ching goes the insurance costs...

Opie 10-11-2012 09:18 PM

How do people lose control of these things? Can you imagine if the car had more than 200hp!!

I'm getting sick of hearing people moan about their insurance rates. I find it humorous if you honestly believed that a RWD coupe for less than $30K would not be crashed more than the average car.

Don't get me wrong, it's a shame to see these cars wrecked and the reputation the car is developing, but it's far from a surprise.

It's probably in your best interest to sell the car now if you're that worried about your insurance rates because (spoiler alert) I'll bet you another one will crash. And then another...

Also, stay away from Lambos and such ;)

:word:

For day to day driving, I leave everything on. There's no need to turn them off. Save that for a controlled environment. I'd rather have my car when I wake up in the morning.

Mr.Jay 10-11-2012 09:19 PM

I don't even know where to or if I even want to try and understand this.

S2kphile 10-11-2012 09:29 PM

I'm just speculating but I don't know how owners can be wreck less with their new cars especially if you invested your hard-earn cash into it. Hmm I just hope it wasn't just driver error and that everyone is okay.
