There goes my MOD'ing Budget

Well I took my 6 month old Weimaranner to the Vet today after a bout of vomitting and diahrea for a few days, and found out hes gravely ill and needs to be hospitalized for several days atleast to see where he falls in his 50% survival rate.

A fair trade my dog is far more important that some would be parts, but very upsetting for a whole range of reasons.. Bummer.

When HE(Blue) gets better I'll take him for a ride in Red(Firestorm Red FR-S)

kendalldwhite 10-09-2012 08:38 PM

Im having dog problems to, very very expensive.

please post a pic of your dog, my gf wants to see.

jadewbj 10-09-2012 09:00 PM

I really hope your dog gets better. Parts come and go, pets are family.

Surok 10-09-2012 09:01 PM

Sorry to hear buddy, but family is always first.

Aint that the truth. I wish your dog the best of luck.

Boost_Junkie 10-09-2012 09:06 PM

+1 hope he gets better real soon!

rmjjensen 10-09-2012 09:07 PM

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your dog feels better. Dogs are serious budget busters - my dog costs me $500/mo for all his meds. Had I known at the time I would not have adopted him ...but he's a great dog.

Do they have any idea what's wrong?

RRnold 10-09-2012 09:10 PM

The car can wait but your dog's health can't. Do what you gotta do to make sure he makes a full recovery. Sorry to hear.

Superhatch 10-09-2012 09:53 PM

Our dog Senna cost us about 7k this year.

Damn dude. Sorry to hear. Lost a family (dog) member last year. Hopefully yours pulls through. I'd trade my car, all body parts, wheels, and turbo for a few more years with my buddy.

He's got Parvovirus he had his first shot for it but needed his second shot but caught it between shots. I wasn't supposed to take him public but he loves to run and play.

Hey man I have a weimaraner too. He almost died young as well due to being sick. This was like 6 or 7 years ago and I forgot what it was but he made it through. Yours will too.

BioRage 10-10-2012 03:15 PM

Pet's are expensive.

I also don't have the time to tend to them, nor the budget :)

jesperswe 10-10-2012 03:24 PM

Don't you have insurance for pets that covers these costs?

M-17 10-10-2012 03:41 PM

Putting your dog before you car, I'm sure your dog is very grateful for you being his owner.

I know my dog is at the end of her leash for how old she is, but she still finds a way to keep going.

Style 10-10-2012 03:45 PM

Pets will never turn their backs on you. Cars who knows. I'm a HUGE animal lover and would rather save my dog than mod my car, I have 4 dogs. Good choice. Don't be upset about it. I want to see Blue!

This^

purinacare has resonable pet healthcare insurance, and if you are a GEICO auto insured, you get a discount on it. Just fyi.

my wife and I have 2 american pitbulls one is 5 one is 1, and the mo/rate was around $160 for accident and illness, $100ded and 20%co-pay (lowest ded/copay options)

milanojess 10-10-2012 04:34 PM

a pet's insurance may be difficult to obtain if the pet is older and of certain breed.

In any case, a car can always be fixed or modded later, be that 10, 20, 30 or even 50 years later. A pet is part of family :)

I live vicariously through my friends' pets and children so that I may fully enjoy my four-wheeled obsessions. I'd love to have a nice dog someday, though.

totally agree on this

I spent a couple of grand trying to give my pet one more chance for survival but alas the liver damage was far too great. I'd give a couple grand more to have my little buddy around again.

Synack 10-12-2012 11:23 AM

Gorgeous dog.

Good logic. If something bad happens to that dog, it's extremely unfortunate but it's not on your conscious about having to pay all the medical bills.

Brett 10-18-2012 07:43 PM

Sorry to hear about this man. I really hope your pup pulls through. My wife's a vet tech, so I know a bit of what you're dealing with.

For those who may not know, vaccinated adult dogs can carry Parvo. Puppies are especially susceptible until they've had all of their Parvo vaccinations and boosters. Typically that's at about 16 weeks. This is the reason many dog parks prohibit dogs under 16 weeks.

Best of luck,
Brett

Fish 10-18-2012 09:57 PM

Man, hope your dog will be OK. I had to put mine down earlier this year in March. I would gladly give up my car to get my dog back. Miss her a lot....

Not everywhere but in USA vet services are ridiculously overpriced, much like the rest of the medical industry.

Blue86 10-19-2012 08:14 AM

They aren't cheap is Australia either I assure you.
