Tyres

Hi guys,

I am having some problems finding a decent tyre in Adelaide for a 225/40/18 set of wheels.

I want something with good grip (dry and wet), and preferrably a decent life of over 30,000kms. Low noise would be a bonus too.

Anyone have any recommendations under $350 / tyre?

You are wishing to order tyres online?

If you can't find decent tyres in Adelaide then you are going to buy them online.

Your thread titled "Toyo Tyres" didn't help?

You think?

Try the wheels and tyres Section of this forum. Or buy a copy of Motor or Wheels tyre comparison editions, or even try one of the many tyre shops in Adelaide.

Rough rule of thumb:
Grippy
Quiet
Long lasting
Reasonably priced

Choose any 3 - ie. you can get grippy, quiet, reasonably priced but not long lasting. Any tyre is a compromise.

Yes I know. I never suggested all 4, I asked for suggestions of ppl's experiences.

Bridgestone Potenza
Pirelli P-Zero
Yokohama Advans

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...40&diameter=18

Most tyres sold here have user's reviews and Tirerack test many of them as well.

Potenza Adrenalin RE001 now RE002 are all of those, brilliant !

Why so good?

SXE10 10-08-2012 04:07 PM

Because he hasn't tried anything better. Directional technology is so 90's. Asymmetric is where it's at these days.

Lol that's funny
What makes asymmetric better?

Because the price vs grip/performance vs noise vs life I am very happy with

im very happy with 595 RSR for the price too :)
just hope the 86 can still get the tail out with them haha

Blue86 10-09-2012 05:20 AM

I had fk452s on my mr2 and wasn't impressed with the tread life and grip toward the end.

On my 86 I have Continental extreme contact DW. Great overall and am very happy. Had to get them from tyre rack but it was a smooth purchase so all good.

Other recommendation would be Goodyear eagle f1 Assymetric 2.

Yeah I am going to go w/ the Goodyear Eagle's. Good price too, I reckon like $1100 from Tirerack for 225/40/18's

I'm lookin for 4 cheap tyres on the stock rims for the skids days and whatnot.

EDIT: haha after some quick research, looks like they don't last long at all...

Surok 10-09-2012 09:02 PM
