I like the big subie wing cuz it reminds me of the action package 7th gen celicas.

Neutral_Eyes 09-28-2011 08:44 PM

No wing, no spoiler. And they better have an option to delete if that's the way it comes.

+1:word:

NESW20 09-28-2011 08:53 PM

we'll see how the production version looks. probably no wing for me

Sea1monkey2 09-28-2011 09:01 PM

i am really diggin the big celica style spoiler, despite it likely being a r.i.c.e. feature. Not a fan of the mk2 wing, and the g-sport is really wild. if they can fashion a nice attatched spoiler though, thatd be welcome

Andy 09-28-2011 09:04 PM

I'd rather drive the car first, both one with, and one without the spoiler. I'd like to see actual DATA as to if its functional before I make the desicion :)

+1

Feel it before I decide. :D

Random_Art 09-28-2011 09:27 PM

I would rather not have a spoiler from the factory. If it gets to the point where I need one on the track, I can always get a carbon fiber wing later.

Andy 09-28-2011 09:44 PM

I'm going of the fact that I used to have an ST205 Celica GT-Four, and the difference between having the raiser blocks in was massivly noticable, it took a bit off the top end (Though I did use this occasionally, from around 160mph down to about 145 Mph). It felt so much less twitchy at the back end when cornering at high speed

I would only get a OEM spoiler, unless you KNOW FOR CERTAIN that much R&D and testing has gone into the spoiler your looking at!

On the ST205 having the spoiler in the higher position, gave, iirc 60kg downforce on the rear axle @ 62mph (100kph) this was documented by Toyota/TTE/TRD when in development/production

Mr.Jay 09-28-2011 09:49 PM

aftermarket deck lip spolier please

the factories ones soo far have been too much for me or too pontiac grand am for me

I thought the exact same thing today as I was sitting behind one in traffic.

...if that is indeed going to be on the final model.

No oem spoiler for me. If its going to be an option, it'll probably overpriced, heavy and non-functional.

Tag another one for an aftermarket deck lip or a duckbill spoiler!

Mate, look at the car, its nothing like an FT-86 so I doubt the spoiler will look like a completely different car!

Dark 09-28-2011 10:20 PM

I prefer aftermarket wing. If the have a few styles as options, aftermarket will also have them( in carbon and non-carbon) for cheaper price point.

I was thinking something along the lines of an APR GTC-200 adjustable wing.

And if you'd like the data: http://www.aprperformance.com/index....sk=view&id=183

I wouldn't mind a functional wing from the factory so long as it doesn't look like the one on the prototype. But, I'd still rather not pay for a non-adjustable wing that I may be switching out later.

MiguelAE86 09-28-2011 10:41 PM

something like this would be perfect

Mr Jay was talking how the spoiler on the MK2 looks similar to the one on the Grand Am...

Yes that is what I was going to be doing that!!!!!

Looks awesome!! Def want a carbon firber set.

chulooz 09-28-2011 10:55 PM

I think Id like to go with a nice functional OEM wing... its never tough to find people that want to trade trunks when you are the one with the wing.

Ahhh gotcha now.... still, if it goes with the cars styling, (And is functional as above) I'm happy, I personally think it seems to look OK in the pictures (on the FT86)

That thing (American car?) looks Fugly! and totally different style between the car and spoiler :)

Correct, when you sick of the wing you can say swapping boot and i am sure someone will do it!

Dave-ROR 09-29-2011 12:28 AM

Which one keeps the ass most settled under heavy braking on track? That's the one I want.

I was just trying to say I didn't like that style spoiler when I saw it on the Gran Am and I still don't like it when I saw it on the FRS worst it made me think of the Gran Am

I'm really a fan of a clean look another reason why I want the toyota/scion since I figure the subie is the one with the larger wing

KaliKev 09-29-2011 01:34 AM

No wing, clean back.

lancie 09-29-2011 05:35 AM

no wing....!

big wing in italy is called "clothesline" :D

4agze 09-29-2011 06:02 AM

No wing for me but if Japan TRD will have one that looks good, makes a big difference on stability & brakeing ill get one.

Levi 09-29-2011 10:32 AM

For me no wing at all. When my car gets full track conversion, then I'll look for a proper functional racing rear wing, TRD, STI or any other quality stuff that really works.

Personally I hope it has nothing more than a little lip spoiler from the factory. I say this because I know that in order for a spoiler to actually be effective like Dave-ROR (and I) would want, the car would have to have something like what Random_Art posted...and they look terrible on a street car.

There is a reason race cars have the wing up high (at, or just below the roof line).

I just want it to be mounted (whatever they pick) in a removable fashion (bolts/nuts).

Just my experience coming from Integras, the ITR wing is annoying, but it works (very noticable difference without it - and on the plus side it blocks a lot of the annoying headlights people use in Chumpcar :P ) so if it's not molded into the bodywork and is mounted with bolts/nuts then hopefully someone will release a functional wing to reuse those stock holes (Like Mugen did for Integras and some others have as well), that way I can remove 4 nuts, swap to the proper wing for track use and then 4 nuts again to remove and switch back to the stock spoiler. That way it's not ugly all the time on the street.

I doubt I will ever truely make this a 100% track car (cage, bucket, harnesses, etc) so I'd at least like the option to swap a functional wing on the car for the occasional track day that I feel like using this car for.

I can live without it too, I doubt I'll drive this more than 8/10ths on track since it'd just be for fun.

Sea1monkey2 09-29-2011 12:55 PM

gimme a wing like this and i'll be satisfied
http://www.carsrob.com/wp-content/up...-Side-View.jpg

suprachica79 09-29-2011 01:09 PM

I don't want a huge wing either, something low and tasteful. Since I won't be tracking this car hardly ever, I don't want a big erector set on the back of my car. Obviously we all understand the functionality of a wing of that nature, but most people on the street will see it and say RICE and that is not what I am going for in this car.

@DaveROR - I love the removeable option you pose. Would be great for this sort of vehicle as they are building it with excellent handling and I'm sure with the idea in mind that many people will try and track it.

I want a deck lid spoiler like a 06 Acura RSX TypeS as I have no reason to need the high wing. The car will be a DD only.

quik1987 09-29-2011 03:50 PM

Seeing as how higher performance or similar cars don't need such a crazy spoiler (Cayman R, 1 series M, 370Z, S2000, etc.), and I'm not a teenager anymore, I don't think I will be going with the TRD/STI wing. I doubt I will be tracking it often if ever.

I also have every intention of keeping this car forever, so I'd rather have more of a sleeper kind of car and not draw attention from police and such when I drop an STI engine much farther down the road.

I also like the mk. ii spoiler despite what everyone else says. I imagine the carbon fiber would look quite nice against whitest white.

DaveyG 09-29-2011 04:21 PM

Wing only if its functional, other wise rice

You do know that the carbon fiber on the concept is just for the auto show, right? It's extremely unlikely that we'll see carbon fiber on this car at the price point they're aiming for

Giccin 09-29-2011 05:20 PM

Gonna bring this car to the Canyons! Yea... because since the world is going to end. I'm going to die in fashion. So in a "Wing" perspective... I'll take whichever is going to help me keep my line.

Taking the corners like a boss and dying before the government screws me over some more. :D
