though nothing happened, but i now know what you guys meant with "idiots with their first rwd..ect", did a little tiny powerslide on a turn, and i understand now haha, thank god i i didnt go any faster, so already learned that today not happening again.

Also.. ignoring retards actually is the best kind of showing off you can do, so learned that as well!

Zardoman 10-05-2012 04:13 AM

I wish i had that when i was in highschool, tho I would feel my car would be in constant danger from jealous kids.

I am jealous as we speak.

enjoy it slick!

DaJo 10-05-2012 04:18 AM

Leave. Your. Traction. Controls. ON!

Cheers to your new beautiful car! :happy0180:

Guff 10-05-2012 04:21 AM

Don't mess about. Keep the nannies on. Go to AutoX and HPDEs and learn not only how to drive fast but also how to understand and feel your car.

The best upgrade is a Driver upgrade!

Oh, and when your friends are a-hootin' and a-hollering for you to do a burnout, don't.

Have fun!

itsibarra 10-05-2012 04:28 AM

If people egg you on to do anything - just be RESPONSIBLE and make up an excuse like, "i'm still breaking in the car."

haha other than that enjoy!! I know you'll have an ear to ear grin pulling up to school in the AM, or walkin into it after class.

Squishy86 10-05-2012 07:01 AM

Don't bring it to a high school. That's my advice. You're asking for trouble.

_F-R-S_ 10-05-2012 07:33 AM

i Give it 2 weeks before you get comfortable and show off... wrecked

Tt3Sheppard 10-05-2012 09:24 AM

Yea I feel like high school students these days are brutal. I wouldn't bring it to school unless you want to risk vandalism. Damn I wish I had a job in high school that could pay for that :(

stevo_12v 10-05-2012 09:36 AM

+1
DO NOT bring it to high school. To many jealous haters.

JERZgrl88 10-05-2012 10:36 AM

What do you do at 18 where you can purchase this car yourself? Cash in your savings bonds? Just wondering :) Looks good though!

TurnOne 10-05-2012 10:37 AM

Don't crash it. Nothing would make the haters happier than you crashing your brand new car.

Tint your windows and rebadge your car to a Maserati emblem or the one with the horse. The challenges will stop coming.

JERZgrl88 10-05-2012 12:04 PM

Some people are so rude just be safe and enjoy your car, take it easy that's all. We all seem to be older (I assume) with more experience from cars we driven. I use to drive a RWD vehicle at 17 - let's just say bald tires and rainy days were not my favorite. I was still new to the clutch and it was just a learning experience...had a few scary moments but nothing too crazy since I knew to be careful. Years later I just laugh at those "good old days." So now we pass our experiences to those next in line :) Just watching out~

636 10-05-2012 12:14 PM

enjoy the car, but be safe! Take it easy in the rain/wet. Assuming you got the Michelins, these wheels can be unpredictable when wet.

TRUTH!

ROJ 10-05-2012 12:39 PM

Wow Congrats!! Pays off after such a hard work..

Take it easy and drive safe. Get to understand how it different it is from the other cars.

I have been driving the secure FWD for most of my driving life that is like 6 years so driving a manual 86/FRS demo car, I got for five days, for after such a long time did get me to do some silly RWD newbie mistakes during the first couple of hours driving.

Touge_ninja 10-05-2012 01:04 PM

Man that's a sexy argento beside your car :)

showbe 10-06-2012 02:45 AM

I bet he crashes it in less then 2 years. Probably his first car.

First, what is that hat you're wearing? Do you wear it often?

Second, find an empty lot somewhere and practice the limits of the car so you know what it feels like to have the rear of the car kick out.

CSSM 10-06-2012 05:01 AM

I felt uncomfortable taking my Lexus to my high school, and it was a "rich school".
I saw people hitting other cars with their doors and even their bumpers occasionally, then I parked it at the local university once and the side mirror and the side doors were completely bashed in when I got back (no note). I do not recommend taking a nice car to school, from personal experience. I have a Tahoe now and just a few weeks ago I was backed into in a parking lot, and I have many many door dings. I may just have bad luck, but I am just saying.

Yeah, had been waiting for it so long, kinda let my self go and i had to wear a hat & actually not at all. Maybe once here and now, not into the snapback bullshit at all. Haha i wish i could do that, too sketchy where i live!

Take it to a HPDE event and learn the handling characteristics. Leave the hooning on the track. Most of all, Don't let your ego get the best of you trying to impress someone who really doesn't matter.

Congrats on your purchase.

First of all congtrats on the car, enjoy it in good health. I'm sure you have the maturity and common sense to stay out of trouble.

Reminds me a bit of myself when I was your age. I had a paper route when I was 12 years old . Kept at it until I was 16. Saved all my money from that. Probably had $2500 after four years. Now this was back in 1967 through 1970. Money was worth much more then.

In 1972 I bought a new 1972 Opel Manta 1900...$1,700.00! Also had a bike then and traded up to a new Yamaha R5C 350...$500.00 and my old bike in trade. Man I was on top of the world then. Graduated from HS and went to a vocational school. First job was as a motorcycle tech at the Yamaha dealer that I hung out at.

Long story short, I ended up moving shortly after that job with my folks and got a new job at a small manufacturing plant. Now many years later I own that company with my wife who I met there.

Be careful and make good choices along the road of life!

Tanuki 10-06-2012 11:07 AM

I worked in highschool. My parents made me put half in the bank for college and I blew the other half trying to impress girls.

Asphaltfrs1 10-06-2012 02:59 PM

Congrats, I sure wish I had this car back in high school. Well any car would've been good lol
That white does look nice, that was my first choice. But I got asphalt, my 2nd choice, cause it was the only 6 speed manual that was available

Oh yeah, don't let peer pressure get to you. Many kids will want you to do stupid crap in this car.

Agreed

OR

Get the DR4000 dashcam thingy that runs when the car is off so if anyone does mess with it or bump it you have proof and can deal with that appropriately (as in w/ insurance, legal etc... not with bustin' heads).

Lol, I would rather not have to injure the car just to bust someone.

Even with a dashcam... if someone bumped into his car (the rear side) and since the camera is facing front, there's always a chance people could get away from these things unfortunately.

Park it SUPER far away, or leave it at home and drive it to anywhere BUT school.

Sparkplug 10-06-2012 03:47 PM

Enjoy the car. The high school I went to had much nicer cars than the FR-S/BRZ, and Irvine is a somewhat nice neighborhood. You should be fine there.

sofrsnsokleen 10-06-2012 03:52 PM

congrats on your first car! How are you gonna afford the payments though if you're still in HS???
I'm kinda glad I didn't get a car like this when I was younger. I drove like a dumbass then, scraped and dented my mazda 3 several times. Your whole mentality changes when you pay for your car by yourself and every cent comes out of your pocket.
