WheeDude's Whiteout FRS Build

After debating whether or not we'll pick up this car for the shop. We decided to go for it and it was a great decision.

We've been posting a lot of our updates of our car on our facebook ( www.facebook.com/wheeldudedotcom ) page, but decided we should share all our updates here as well.

Here is a picture of it the day we picked it up:
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG4793-L.jpg
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG4801-L.jpg

The next day we couldn't help but to put some wheels on it, so even before getting suspension we decided to throw some wheels on it.

Mounted Gold Grids on the left:
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG0529-L.jpg

and black ones on the right:
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG0582-L.jpg

couple days later we lowered it on eibach sportlines and tinted the front windows:
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG9437-L.jpg
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG9503-L.jpg

That is our temporary drop since the KW's we ordered from Speed Element in Fremont, CA were on back order.

next setup we decided to try out was a square Rota Grid setup in 18x9.5 +38 all around with 255/35/18 tires all around as well.

We did 3 colors in this setup:

White

titanium chrome
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG9845-L.jpg

full royal silver
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/...IMG9996-XL.jpg

we also did Toyota front and rear badges and the GT86 badge at this time:

WheelDude.com 10-05-2012 01:16 AM

the next set of wheels we decided to try on after this was the Rota PWR

Black:

Hyper Silver:
http://dudesphotography.smugmug.com/.../IMG0319-L.jpg

These are 18x9.5 all around as well

Here are our mods that are awaiting install:

New modified taillights (painted by RJ's paint shop with house of kolor candy red paint)

KW V3 coilovers:

Looks good with the 18x9.5 white grids. any rubbing issues? Did you roll the fenders?

You should throw some SVNs on it! My original idea was to put some flat black ones on mine so i bought them when I still had my tC... well they ended up going on my tC and then I sold them.... So I never got a chance to see what they look like on an FRS

Now those are what properly colored taillights look like, not that foggy hazy crap people were doing in other threads....perfect!

jeebus 10-05-2012 02:34 PM

nice!

JDMenrique 10-06-2012 09:30 AM

im in love with the taillights!

CharlieChaos 10-06-2012 09:34 AM

I think I see a defect in the tailights and because Im a nice guy Ill send you mine and you guys send me those defective ones =)

They look sick very clean

FReSh 10-07-2012 03:17 PM

Love the tail lights. The black PWR's look sharp as well.

DIM 10-07-2012 06:31 PM

Looks a lot better with the red out tail lights. You should get a shark fin antenna, I don't like the shorty rod antenna, it's like an rc. Other than that, looks great.

2point0 10-08-2012 03:21 PM

Damn that looks great.

Mind sharing what the taillight painting cost? If you got a deal, no need to post that, but I'd like to know the normal price if you have that info.

Normal price is about $300

He said if we set up a group buy we can do it for about $250

It's not a cheap thing to do unfortunately (the time consumption it takes for him to do it is not worth his time unless there was multiple units that he can do at once)

Lonewolf 10-10-2012 01:41 AM

Wow, those tails are exactly what the whiteout needed! They look great!

If there was a core program where he could ship out painted one's and have us send back our originals i would be in on it.

Thanks for the info! Too rich for my blood, but I definitely understand his position. Vinyl was much cheaper, but that paint looks perfect.

There's not, he's not in the business of painting taillights, he stays extremely busy as it's a small shop where he is the only painter.

If we do set it up, i'd be happy to receive all shipments and take them to him then ship them back to you guys (at your expense) as a favor to him, but I know for sure he won't bother with buying cores to do core exchanges.

www.rjspaintshop.com if you want to see some of the type of work he does.

So does that mean he won't do them unless it's more than one? I really want to get mine painted.

Today we replaced the Eibach Sportline springs with the KW V3 coilovers

What a night and day difference...haven't even driven the car much, but it looks better and feels better too

Wish the coilovers were available earlier, but it was worth the wait.

vitasoy 10-10-2012 08:27 PM

man those red tails are beautiful

DIM 10-10-2012 08:53 PM

Do you plan on adding a lip kit?
