BEST HID Conversion Kit out there??

I don't have the skill or patience to do the TRS Morimoto Retro-Quik method so..

I'm thinking of getting a 5000k kit because it seems to be the most popular stock-looking color.
Now I need help with what supplier to buy it from.

Who has the best warranty and feedback on their products?

What is the most popular choice for an HID kit? I've never done any of these mods before, this is my first new car.

JoeBoxer 10-04-2012 12:54 PM

I have the Morimoto 5000k HID Elite kit from TRS, paid $130 shipped it looks amazing i will take some pictures of the install and cutoff pics tonight.

Difference between 35w and 50w? And just to clarify, It's an H11 harness correct?

JoeBoxer 10-04-2012 02:08 PM

35w is plenty and yes it is H11, regular price is $150 but i think they have a special for FR-S owners i called in and got $20 off and free shipping.

VADER 10-04-2012 02:14 PM

So 6000k has a blue tint to it and 5000k is more of a pure white, correct?

And does it come with 3M double sided tape on the bottom of the ballasts to secure it in place? or zip ties?

JoeBoxer 10-04-2012 03:24 PM

I wouldn't want any more blue tint than what i have now, they come with some brackets and hardware but we used 3M tape to mount them. If you want to PM me your phone number i will text you some pics of the installation.

FastLane1000 10-06-2012 03:55 PM

Is there a Bi-Xenon option without doing the Retro Quik kit? The highbeam comes from the projector correct?

ragingSPAM 10-06-2012 07:26 PM

no bixenon kits since its a non dual beam harness/plug, the highbeams are from the reflector next to the projector

Im using a DDM tuning 55w 4500k kits, super bright, clean cutoff (stock projectors are great) and it only cost $45 the 35w is $35

ph0en1xtk 10-06-2012 09:55 PM

Best one i have now, i tried to bend down the "squirrel finders" not sure if i did it right or at all.

The same kit i have is available in the member classifieds too.

try2findmark 10-07-2012 02:14 AM

Try DDM, not the best HID's out there but if youre on a budget these would probably be the best route to go

5000k pure white

6000k crystal blue

i suggest getting only digital HID xenon kits, the analog kits you see for sale are usually less than $100/kit, and those WILL fail in a couple months time, i guarantee it, i've had both and i stay away from all analog hid kits

Did you buy the kit with the heavy duty relay or the can-bus?

JoeBoxer 10-07-2012 03:13 PM

Relay, shouldn't need the can bus harness.

How do you know what's digital and what's analog?

All analog kits have a DC electrical circuit in them, and all digital kits have an AC electrical circuit in them. Visually, you can tell because MOST digital kits have an external ignitor, metal casing, and are advertised as full AC digital ballasts.

I have both DC and AC HID xenon kits, but I do not like selling the DC kits because they will fail in time, i've been using AC digital kits on my 2010 Odyssey, 93 Civic, 93 RX7, and fog lights for my 05 TL for 3+ years without any issues at all. I've also installed about 50+ kits this year alone for customers that are local to me and they are all very satisfied.

note: different vendors/manufacturers will have their different style ballasts with different appearances, this is just how MINE are

DC analog slim ballast, you can see it has a cheaper quality appearance, plastic housing, internal ignitor that generates the most heat out of the whole unit that will cause other parts to fail
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8311/8...eef13a90d9.jpg

AC digital slim ballast, much better housing, full aluminum casing so it acts as a heat sink, external ignitor to keep heat away from sensitive electrical components and circuit board, all insulated internal parts and 100% water proof, this is what you should buy

jjdrivesajazz 10-10-2012 01:19 PM

here's a comparison between different color bulbs, bulb temperature does not affect brightness, so a 8000k bulb does NOT mean it is brighter than a 3000k, these are simply COLORS..BUT a 8000k bulb will appear blue which means you might see less compared to a 5000k pure white bulb, but everybody's eyes are different and adjust differently.

once again, these are MY colors, some other vendors might have different colors, i don't sell anything above 8000k because that's just getting into purple and violet, and is not only illegal, but will serve no purpose on the road

VADER 10-10-2012 09:21 PM

So from this info I'm assuming the Morimoto Elite HID H11 kit is a digital kit.. correct?

JoeBoxer 10-10-2012 11:03 PM

Yes it is

If there was it would probably look pink and red lights are extremely illegal anyways.

Red is illegal in front, got a warning for too red of turn signals (one of those short lived deep amber bulbs). You can get pink/violet in the nonsensical K range, look great but CRI is almost as bad as low pressure sodium.

Hıd Conversion

I have KENSUN HID XENON CONVERSION KIT and it is one of the best product on the market . This kit comes with everything you need to add Xenon light technology to your vehicle’s headlight system. Kensun has done a good job with the design here. Both the ballasts and bulbs that come with it are super high quality. These will really light up the road for you very brightly after dark.
