Definitely cleaner looking in my opinion i'm not a fan of emblems especially on the sides of the car. I'm glad i traded mine too.

Spartan65 10-04-2012 02:46 AM

How hard is it to take those off?

86_ZN6 10-04-2012 02:49 AM

does anyone know the part number for those?

Hardest thing is taking the adhesive tape off from the corner. Same type that the emblem on the front has. Other than that you just need to pop out 6 clips by pulling it out

DBacon1052 10-04-2012 02:52 AM

Looks nice. How much did it cost?

You gonna keep stockers or did you trade straight over? I like what someone did replacing the rear scion emblem w the 86 boxer emblem. You could do that and debadge the fr-s

I'm hoping that Subaru releases the one they had on the STi concept car. I like that one the best, but the BRZ on is much better looking than the FR-S imo.

Do you think we could get a picture of the back of the vent?
And possibly a pic where the adhesive tape sits?

Thanks

Spartan65 10-04-2012 09:18 AM

I doubt they have these available in Hot Lava.

Yes, the end 2 digits vary:
Lightning Red=RL
Rally Blue=PG
Crystal Black=V2
Dark Gray=EN
Galaxy Blue=B5
Sterling Silver=S3
Satin White=WU

Draco-REX 10-04-2012 10:11 AM

Now does anyone know the part# of the FR-S pieces in Raven? (or anyone doing this on a Raven want to send me yours? :D )

Though, now that I'm thinking about it, I'll probably remove the emblems and have to fill the holes so color won't matter.

That "someone" is me:

See this thread for more details on the rear emblem changeout. And here's some more pics of my car.

Cheers,

Dave

Keeping stock ones for now and I have given that some thought but for now I'll just keep the toyota emblem on it

As you can see the tape only runs along the side. On the pic I had taken some of the bottom portion of it off but you can get an idea of where it was

I am surprised no one balked at this...

WOW... $160 per side.... i think the whole front bumper cover costs that much.

Spartan65 10-04-2012 11:29 AM

The only thing that bites is the vents are cosmetic.

Damn.. thanks heaps man. Is it easy to take off?
Do you need to squeeze the clips on the inner side to free them up or can you just pry off the whole thing out in one go?

Once I did the first one the second one was fast and easy. Longest thing was taking the leftover tape, I used goo gone for it. You pry them off. Start pulling from the side where the tape was at and work your way to the end. Cant be scared of breaking it, you have to put some force into it. I'll try to post a DYI towards the end of next week if I can

Ahh ok, looks like you started from the 'pointy' part(the top part) of the vent first if I'm correct in assuming that?

I really just want to cut that metal out and put a grill there. Just so I can tell my friends (In Clarkson Anorak Voice) , "That's a functional vent, you know... Keeps my engine 1.000684493 Degrees cooler..." :bonk:

JWA 10-04-2012 12:18 PM

I went the other way with my BRZ. Traded for a set from an FR-S. I don't do fake vents, the shape of the FR-S panels seems to show off the sculpted line that goes from around the rear window forward at the top of the door and into those panels, and the GT-86 badge is awesome.

lemonspeakers 10-05-2012 02:06 PM

Cosmetic and absurdly expensive. Awesome.
