Berk Technology Muffler Delete
I purchased a Berk Tech muffler delete recently and installed it on my BRZ. The install was a breeze, took maybe 15 minutes. The piece looks really nice, great welds, sturdy flange, comes with a new gasket and bolts too.
It fits perfectly on the car, centered in the cutout. Personally, I think the sound is perfect too. No drone at speed, deep tone on throttle, some burble. It's not too loud for daily driving in my opinion. Anyway, here's a quick video while revving a bit. I'll get a driving one soon enough. Thanks for the video! I've been eyeing that muffler delete as a simple change for now and it would make my commute more enjoyable!

would be nice to have a before and after audio clip to compare sound levels. I'd be interested in this if I knew it wouldn't be abnoxiously loud.
From your clip, I do think I like the tone and note.. it's just the volume issue I'm concerned about. I'm also not sure about the single exit exhaust.. but for track use.. this would be a no-brainer! |
I love mine, I have had it on for a couple thousand miles, not obnoxious or overpowering at all, just enough noise that you don't have to look at the tach to rev match. driving around with a girl in the car she remarked that it was louder than she expected the car to be stock but it sounded nice,,,,when she got out and i pointed out the lack of a muffler, she said the car obviously didn't need it if it is that quiet without one.
The only time it's obviously not stock is at 4500-5500 at constant throttle of less than 10% engine braking...and it has to be almost intentional to make it hang there but if you do you get a decently loud reverb in the cabin, still not enough to overpower the radio if you are listening to such a thing... |

I think the tone and note is great. I'm not a huge fan of the single exit either, I might have a custom dual made. |
Love the single exit! do you guys get popping and burbles on the overrunn or fast gear changes? In for more videos.
|
I have the Nameless version of the same thing for about 3 weeks now. Its moderately loud on cold start but mellows out. It's far more quiet than you think. However the single exit bugs the crap out of me so I ordered a Perrin catback and will sell my delete as soon as I get the new one.
|
Yep, you get some pops and burbles. I like.
|
here's one from outside...I think I'll do another on a country road so there's no other background noise.

I like! Good tone for 150 bucks and not loud at all actually ( I had RPI race mufflers on my Z4M, look it up if you want to hear what loud is lol)
|
Just ordered mine yesterday! Can't wait for it to come in!
|
Sounds great. I emailed them monday to see if it was in stock and they replied yes if you order by 2pm pst it will go out today. The next day i got an email that it is backordered. won't go out until friday. Wtf? That's why I emailed them in the first place.

thinking about getting them. have u gotten pulled over for the muffler delete?
|
We haven't had any customer's complain about getting pulled over and a lot of them live in the stricter Orange County area!
Here's one of our customers. We like the berk dual tip and front pipe setups a lot! Here's a sound clip here. He have the dual-tip axle-back on ours and never had an issue with LE
Great tone, not too loud, highly recommend +1 Nick C. |

What was that noise while the car was out of sight? Please tell me that neighborhood is in a flight path for single engine airplanes, because that noise would be way out of line. |

I'm sure that if I tried it they would not only not enhance each other, together they'd somehow produce less than stock. Does anyone who understands this stuff really well have any helpful thoughts? |

According to the Dsport Exhaust shootout dyno sheet, the Peak power in the high end is raised so you will have good high end as well. This would, most likely, complement your car to have a good high end powerband. The Berk Technology unit seems to give great high end because the exhaust gas is probably able to move much faster and less restricted than the stock muffler. After a tune and these parts things can change. Thanks, Mike |
Had it installed this morning. I could have done it myself but it's cold and wet here and I don't own a garage so it was worth paying someone else.
My impression after driving one block: I have no idea what the hell I was thinking. My God this thing is loud! My impression after driving thirty miles: I have no idea what the hell I was thinking. My God this thing is loud! I love the look of the tips but this noise has got to go. The question is, do I 1) sell the thing or 2) cut the tips off and have them welded onto the stock muffler (sounds stupid to me too) or 3) have a muffler welded into the system between the cat and the axle? If I go with option 3, does anyone have any experience with this and have a recommendation? Something that flows better than stock but isn't stupid loud? |
