AHH She's here and I can't have her till Thursday!

So, I stopped in to the dealership today on my way home to see what the status was on my car.

And there it was. Sitting there, fresh off the truck. So I went in to ask the dealership what was going on.

Sure enough, I knew that my car was there, before the majority of the dealership did.

So I was like "When can I have it?" Well, the finance lady isn't in tomorrow, and so she's going to process the paperwork Wednesday, call me Wednesday morning, and set up something for Thursday! I CAN'T HAVE IT TILL THURSDAY! :mad0260::mad0260::mad0260::mad0259::mad0259::mad0 259::bs::bs::bs:

Just for good measure:

I would go back to the dealership immediately and insist on seeing the actual mileage on the odometer and tell them that you want no potential customers being allowed to use the car for demo drives and that only employees doing actual work on the car be allowed to drive the car. Regarding that, there should be no need for any employee to take the vehicle off their property. If you don't, you will never know what your car will be exposed to in the next few days.

Carban 10-01-2012 07:44 PM

agree with whaap ^^

make sure its urs exclusively. no one else inside the car

Pforwell 10-01-2012 07:54 PM

No worries.I sat in it and got a chance to turn it on. I've got the Odometer reading.

However, I do very much appreciate the concern :)

15 KM on the Odometer!

Just keep in mind that setting in it and getting a chance to note the mileage is not the same thing as having a clear understanding with them that no one in the car unless it's for your benefit only.

Zaggeron 10-01-2012 08:02 PM

Dang. Since when does it take all day to process paperwork and since when does a dealership not have the ability to sell a car they have on the lot on any given day they are open. I could see you not being able to get it tonight if the finance folk have already left, but how could they not be able to sell it to you tomorrow? Can they sell no cars tomorrow that need to be financed? Very strange.

Oh ... and by the way ... Congrats! :happyanim:

Carban 10-01-2012 08:03 PM

cool man good luck! its worth the wait

Pete156 10-01-2012 08:18 PM

I have told my dealer to put in only premium fuel, not drill the bumper, leave the factory tape on, no wash or prep, call me when the truck arrives, and ensure all grommets are in place. Then I will write a check and say goodbye, hopefully forever (if the car ever gets here).

PMok 10-01-2012 08:58 PM

Congrats, you're almost there. I know it sucks to wait... I signed my paperwork and officially bought my car as of last Monday, and now I'll finally get my BRZ tomorrow. Coming on a truck from CO to CA.

MmmHamSandwich 10-01-2012 08:59 PM

Make sure they give you an antenna before you drive it off the lot. :p

ModBargains.com 10-01-2012 08:59 PM

Sucks you have to wait, but congrats are in order nonetheless!

Turbowned 10-01-2012 09:08 PM

Does that mean any cars they sell between now and Thursday they can't deliver on-the-spot? C'mon, one of the sales managers must know how to process that paperwork before Thursday!

shishand 10-02-2012 03:01 AM

Same :( but i honly have to wait until Wednesday :D

NOHOME 10-02-2012 06:32 PM

Had a similar deal when mine came in on a Saturday. Dealer set me up with the car as a "Loaner" for the day so I did not have the shakes until I could pick it up on Monday.

Toyota town in London was very specific that sold cars do not get so much as sat in by shoppers.

Toyota town is good. I am from London and thought about going through them but as I'm living in St. Catharines now, I figured it would just be easier to go through Performance Toyota here. They have been great and I have no regrets. They parked it out in the back away from the customers and are not allowing anyone to sit in it (let alone drive it).

Tomorrow night at 6PM I am going to pick it up. Man am I just too excited.:happyanim:

I'll be back in London this weekend for Thanksgiving. I'm very excited to drive my car. Even if I have to be shifting it up and down the whole way home due to break in...

And insist that they put it on their showroom floor INDOORS! I can't shake the feeling that they are deliberately dawdling so they can show off the car to customers for a while before handing it off to you. The dealers around here have certainly developed a real attitude due to the scarcity of these cars. The 86 was conceived and is marketed as a back-to-basics no-nonsense driver's car but the dealers act like they're selling a Ferrari :P

In all fairness for 24K it's a damn good knock-off. :burnrubber:

naah, the other way around. Just imagine, soon we'll be seeing Ferraris sporting a bumper sticker with the ol' "My other car is an 86" :D

ewiley 10-03-2012 10:57 PM

Just got mine today, 1 day ahead of schedule :happyanim:

All that waiting makes the delivery just that more sweet. Of course, I had to sit and sign paperwork while looking longingly at my Raven baby. Was great to drive it off the lot, finally.

I know you're excited ... just remember, take your time when you sign those papers & don't let them pull anything. Also, remember to watch those revs for the 1st 1K miles!

Nevermore 10-04-2012 10:41 AM

At least your's is at the dealership. All I know about mine is it's been in the country for over a week, but I haven't heard anything else about delivery time or when it'll actually be here.

Less bitter, congrats haha

Well known fact that prancing horses make your car 10x more likely to overheat and catch fire.

Haha, amen to that sentiment! Mine's been here for about 10 days, and they're saying it'll be "sometime in the next two weeks".

I need to call them back and mention that if the car gets here before the parts (mud flaps, trunk mat, bumper applique) that I want the damn car immediately and will come back for accessory install

PERRIN_Chris 10-04-2012 12:54 PM
