What did you do with your scion cup organizer?

Just curious as to what people are doing with the cup organizer ipod holder, whatever you want to call it. Mine is in the front cup holder, With nothing in it.The tray is in the forward position. The gap between the tray and the console is a perfect fit to hold my phone.

Books 09-26-2012 01:02 PM

I threw it in my backseat floor the day I got it, thinking that I will eventually figure out a user for it. I haven't yet.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and it's a big phone so it doesn't fit. Otherwise, I would have used it to hold my phone.

post_break 09-26-2012 01:03 PM

I never got one...

whaap 09-26-2012 01:05 PM

Mine is in a cabinet in my garage. As soon as a decent aftermarket console cover/arm rest is available I'll be installing that. I don't use the cup holder as there's no food or drink in my car except water and the door pockets work for that just fine.

naikaidriver 09-26-2012 01:07 PM

I threw mine away. Worthless.

I don't get why it has a hole in the bottom for a cable when the actually cup holder doesn't have a spot to run a wire through. Also most car chargers are wound up so you wouldn't be able to really run it through there anyway.

Believe it or not, it's a $26 option!

i thought it was standard freebie?

Jeff86 09-26-2012 02:29 PM

Mine sits in the front cup holder unless my wife and I have coffees. Sometimes put my iPhone in it. Tried running the cord from the bottom when charging and that works really well... *sarcasm*. What a dumb design, but I'm keeping it since I'm collecting every pointless bit of swag I can that relates to this car :D

Flat Black VW 09-26-2012 02:36 PM

I dont know if it has to do with being left handed but this cup holder works perfect for me. I only put bottled drinks in it but thats because I dont trust lids in my car, but even so I have never bumped it with my elbow or thrown my drinks around the car like a lot of people here are experiencing.

SkitterSkotter 09-26-2012 02:44 PM

I love that free cup. I put my coins in the little insets and I just put my iphone on a good playlist and put it in upside down so I can easily detach it if I get a good song. I actually think it's quite useful.

It does have a spot for it. It's this groove.

My GNex seems to fit in both the stand-up cup holder insert and the longitudinal slot perfectly. Perhaps there is more than one variant out there.

This infuriated me when I attempted to run my power cable through the bottom. Nothing that a power drill won't fix though. The really annoying thing, for me at least, is that with a charger plugged into the lighter adapter in the center console, the cup holder has to be in the farthest back position. This makes reaching for a drink or for the phone an exercise in contortion.

I did exactly that. On the trip home from the dealership I pulled it out, threw it on the backseat and completely forgot about it for 7,000 miles!

I use the slot on the side of the console for my Droid X, and don't really need coins in the car so there it still sits in the back seat to this day. I'll probably take it out and put it with my stash of other parts I got with the car but have either replaced or don't need.

Right, so that means you are still running the cable above the insert. So it is pointless. If the cable could be concealed it is different. You are just complicating the system and not improving the look at all by running it there and down. The lower tray should have a pass through.

calis5nest 09-26-2012 05:21 PM

....idk, i know i got it not planning on looking for it lol

empower-auto 09-26-2012 06:01 PM

I use mine to hold drinks..

What is this?

we do not get that in australia!

shiud 09-26-2012 06:28 PM

I put my phone in it... while it's on my desk.

artizhay 09-26-2012 07:23 PM

Cup holder organizer...now that is the coolest thing...I always have 3 pens in my pocket and coins that magically show up...would be great to have something other than the passenger seat to hold it all.

roddy 09-26-2012 07:53 PM

If I got one (and I didn't), I'd use it for spare change. However, I did get free splash shields (mud flaps) as well as both summer and winter (rubber) floor mats instead, so I think that's a fair tradeoff.

FT86R 09-26-2012 08:18 PM

:thumbup:my drivers door rattle a little bit when i play music so i shoved it in the door cup holder to stop the small annoying rattle

mrlewistan 09-26-2012 08:46 PM

I put my Blackberry in the little organizer thing, and my android in the slot.

and some gum!

_hollywood 09-26-2012 11:19 PM

Sitting on my desk, i dont want to display my ipod for all the thieves to see, but it is cool how they thought of everything with this little thing:w00t:

jstans84 09-27-2012 04:40 AM

I tossed mine in the back seat. My EVO LTE doesn't fit in it.

winter 09-27-2012 04:46 AM

Tossed it in a drawer somewhere.

Because it's a Scion-brand token of appreciation for buying the car. You get the Toyota model.

Justin.b 09-27-2012 08:49 AM

Mine's in the driver's door pocket. I put it there soon after buying the car and haven't thought about (or used it) since.

SportInjected 09-27-2012 09:58 AM

Sold it, and never looked back.

Chen 09-27-2012 03:10 PM

Mines still in the plastic.

Sorry, it actually is. I just picked up my car, and it's got the $26 ashtray insert and the stupid cup/phone/change thingy.

Since I quit smoking about 42 years ago, and I don't use my phone in the car, I don't need either one.

Touge_ninja 09-27-2012 04:48 PM

It makes a really good holder of loose change :D

Shagaliscious 09-27-2012 04:56 PM

So I actually used it to hold my phone until I read this thread. Needless to say it's not in the car anymore.

Leonardo 09-27-2012 05:00 PM

I'd have given it back if saw that I paid 26$ for it. All the parts I have taken off the car are on a shelf in my shop. The $26 ipod holder, Noise generator, etc...
