ichitaka05 09-15-2011 08:35 PM

Yeah, I saw that on Jalopnik. It's crazy scary moment! It amazed me, he still accelerated after that. Bikers are missing more bolts in their head than drivers. lol

WingsofWar 09-15-2011 08:54 PM

MiguelAE86 09-15-2011 09:05 PM

driver probably bit a hole in his seat when he saw that. looks like the other bike might have clipped him just a tad. perhaps on the left handlebar. lucky driver.

That's one less person to worry about in the race, if it didn't get red flagged! Yeah it takes a certain mindset to ride yet alone race. There is a lot more involved but I got to admit, it's the best feeling in the world to go that fast w/less restriction.

The one on a Chinese road, the first one Giccin posted, that was like..."whoa" (first car cuts in front, they slow down) "phew...NEVERMIND [screech] [BAM!]". I find it funny somehow lol.

Whoa I didnt realise how steep that was until he was sliding back down! I wouldve been crapping myself, and definitley not gone near the snowmobile until it had stopped.

ROFL, I feel pity for you.

These ppl really don't know how to drive, not even the basics.

On the other hand.... Driving in Las Vegas is all crazy too. >.> Too many tourist + locals aint polite at all.

oneday 09-16-2011 05:29 PM

The deer one; if the driver had stayed on the gas instead of braking he would have gone under the deer and probably would have been fine. But it's just a reflex...you don't have time to think about what you are doing, you just react.

I had a similar one but it was a wheel and tire bouncing down a highway at me. It fell off a Ford Exploder in the opposing lane..I saw it bounce once off the jersey barrier about 200yrds away from me as I was going 60mph in the Miata (with no top on it) and knew I needed to either commit to stopping really quickly (but there were other cars behind me that probably wouldn't have stopped as quickly) or stand on the throttle...either way was a gamble...I chose the gas and the tire bounced less than a few feet from my rear bumper (my wife was in the passenger seat and watched it in disbelief), then bounced once more hitting a truck, and then rolled onto the shoulder. Definitely a moment. Not the worst I've had, but the only on on the road (every other one was on the track).

Allch Chcar 09-16-2011 05:50 PM

My oh !@#% moment was while driving my truck on a cleared road after dark during a gentle snow fall. I drove onto a bridge at 55mph only to notice it had ice :confused0068:. It was only a short 20-40' section of bridge and the tail stepped out at first. But I straightened out as soon as I hit clean road again. My heart started pounding after it was over though. :(

I wish I had video of it. It was epic albeit short.

RRnold 09-16-2011 10:19 PM

I don't condone this type of riding on the street but I'll admit that I have done 170mph on the street before because it's too easy.

The ending is the best! :paddle:

Yep Adrenalinne for sure, after something like that your body thinks it could run a marathon, about 10 mins later though you feel dead.

:eyebulge: Do you have any details on this!?

Seeing his helmet jostle around like that might be an indication that he didn't make it. Or did he get knocked out and survived!? That impact looked brutal!

oneday 09-19-2011 10:54 AM

I remember that accident...horrible. Both driver's survived...You can see Dale's (in car) hands move back up to where the steering wheel was just as that video cuts out...
Here it is as it was broadcast (though the only video I could find was the Spanish broadcast...ay, carumba, indeed.
[u2b]6tT-bbkYbKY[/u2b]

I haven't watched that video since it happened but I remember watching the race as a fan and thinking "why didn't Dale do more to avoid it"...but now, as a racer, I can't help but wonder why Barbazza didn't put his foot on the brake and stop himself from rolling back in to the track--it's one of the first things you learn when you start driving on the track.

Damn!! 1 foot off and Fabrizzio would have been the one split in half! It looks like he was trying to roll back so that he could straighten his car up. Bad decision...
