Now plastidip the front-middle-section bumper lip and it'll look complete!

silly willy, there are no downsides to an ULTRAMARINE!

Oilers99 09-23-2012 01:50 PM

Thanks guys,
It was done with one can of plastidip, one coat of as much as I could get on per side and then quickly removing the masking before the coating hardened up at all to try and get a good solid line..
Its a nice finish up close as well and I think I like the result enough to get that section vinyled if I can find someone very well recommended in Alberta, anyone know of anybody?

Oh... a little unfortunate... I'm in YYC so if you ever decide on making a trip to the city just message me we deal with stuff like that all the time... I kinda want to wrap my car like that to now..... ;P
I work at Calgary Auto Spa so

That creates a lot of contrast where there's none anywhere else. If you plan on keeping it, I'd consider dechroming your headlights, tails, and consider tinting your windows. Black wheels and some added front bummer contrast may help.

MemphisR 09-24-2012 12:00 PM

That's what I wanted to do to mine when I get it. Looks great!

Agreed. What a great idea! They ought to offer that as a factory stripe option!

Loki2x 09-30-2012 01:05 AM

Looks great! Can you post some close up shots.

Finished the sides now all I have to do is the vents

i_4got 10-28-2012 12:19 PM

Holy crap, this is amazing! Simple, but it's exactly what I've been wanting to do with my Whiteout!

How did you get the curved section so smooth? What do you use for "masking"? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Noob here.

Maps316 10-28-2012 06:32 PM

That doesnt look like the flat black plasti dip, did you use the plasti dip gloss on top of it?

RedRocket 10-29-2012 12:25 AM

The more I look at this.. the more I like it.. I might do this on my Firestorm.. I'm not sure yet... SPRAYING anything besides a cleaning product on my car scares me... it really does.. in 3 years I try to peel it off, and what? Does the paint look faded around it? ... I'm not sure..

notFRS 10-29-2012 04:46 AM

Nice volt

plastidip wont last for 3 years.

Oilers99 10-29-2012 03:13 PM

Hey guys it is the flat black plastidip, and for masking I just used the automotive masking tape in long sections to guess the curve and long straight areas. I sprayed liberally and then peeled the masking almost immediately to get the nice line. If you let it sit too long as I did at first, the edges peel up..

Hope that helps and thanks for the input..

Looks great. That's what I did a while back too. Plasti dip. The curved line is a bit hard but have to work quick.

meWant 01-27-2015 09:21 PM

I've actually had them done for a few weeks now. I like the way they came out, just adds a bit of character to the car imo. but if you don't like it, I don't blame you.

iirc I ended up doing 5-6 coats of Smoke with 3-4 somewhat light to mediumish coats of glossifier on top. All aerosol. Also, it looks a tad bit darker in person than it shows in the pictures
