Gran Turismo 5: Three New Cars, Update 2.08 Out Tuesday

Subaru BRZ S ’12 ($.99)

Enjoy the natural feel of a compact front engine rear wheel drive (FR) sportscar by adding the Subaru BRZ S ’12 to Gran Turismo 5.

Sharing the specifications of the Toyota FR-S, the production model prototype was announced at the Tokyo Motorshow in November 2011. In addition to the different front grill and foglights, the driving feel of the suspension settings focuses more on stability, and reflects the sports car philosophy of Subaru. In the BRZ, you can enjoy the feel of an FR layout sportscar — a rarity in today’s automobiles.

Ah cool, I won't have to paint my virtual GT86 in WRB :D

Eurasianman 09-20-2012 03:19 PM

Now I just need this in Forza 4. I don't know what it is, but I tried to play GT5 the other with the GT86... can't seem to do what I want like I can with the FR-S in Forza 4 :bonk:

Aside from that, this pretty cool :)

00NissanNinja 09-20-2012 03:25 PM

Dafuq man, I've wanted the BRZ for the longest and I have to pay for it? That's lame Polyphony the FR-S and GT86 were free...Oh well money well spent I guess.

Sylvain44 09-20-2012 03:46 PM

2 days before I'll get my real BRZ, awesome XD

Hanakuso 09-20-2012 03:51 PM

I feel a little guilty looking forward to the Honda HSV-010 more then the BRZ..I hope they end up bringing in the BRZ or 86 from SuperGT

Turbowned 09-20-2012 04:51 PM

Siiiick, I'll make my friend buy it :) I'm too cheap to buy PS3 and GT5; I'm still rocking Forza 3!

King Tut 09-20-2012 04:55 PM

People still play GT5? Is it a "premium car" or a normal car without interior? I will stick with my FR-S in FM4.

Premium car !

King Tut 09-20-2012 06:47 PM

Well at least some of them are "premium" in that game.

A few years ago I would have criticized this post quite a bit and told you about how forza is completely unrealistic and nothing like GT5. Frankly, neither are sims by any means. If you just want to drive, I do think GT5 is marginally better but I also have a G27 setup for it so I may be biased. Everything else about GT5 is so bad though, the layout, customizations, races, it's all so much better in forza. I wish I bought a Fanatec setup instead.

DookDookDGM 09-20-2012 09:58 PM

in a word:

yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

also, GT5's community is huge.

dsgerbc 09-21-2012 12:08 AM

Meh, I'd bet the HP/torque curves are still way off.

switchlanez 09-21-2012 12:38 AM

Look forward to seeing the aero upgrades. I bet it's the STI lip kit. :p

PMok 09-21-2012 01:57 AM

Sweet! I too already painted both my GT86 and FR-S in WRB, now I won't have to pretend those are BRZs and only take shots from the back LOL...

Awesome !! They finally updated the clutch system. Hope its good now

Bristecom 09-21-2012 04:59 PM

I wonder if there will be any difference in how it drives. TBH, I think the Forza 4 model of the FR-S is more accurate as you can easily get it loose. So having the BRZ in Forza would be more interesting to compare. In GT5, the 86 and FR-S are just too stable.

RaceR 09-21-2012 05:02 PM

Im going to update my first post in the GT5 Nordschleife thread. Will include BRZ!
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=Nordschleife

Im curious... Will the cars be the same in terms of handling? Will the BRZ have more understeer? Which car will be faster around the Nurburgring Nordschleife?

Comfort hard tires. Problem solved!
Sport Hard in offline mode is like driving with semi-slicks in terms of braking, cornering Gs and speed.

To me, cars in Forza feel like are all 4WD. :burnrubber:

BigFatFlip 09-21-2012 05:48 PM

Am I the only one wondering what a "BRZ S '12" is?

I agree, HSV has been on my wish list in GT5 for a while. I have every other Honda JGTC and Super GT car currently.

S is the grade. There are S, R, and RA in Japan.
12 is the model year 2012. It's 2012 model in Japan.

fatoni 09-21-2012 06:15 PM

i bet its exactly like the gt86 in regards to the physics

It's only a dollar and we'll get the Honda Hsv and the Nissan Gtr N24 Gt Academy '12

I can't wait to get my snow white pearl brz!

yormaX 09-22-2012 03:17 AM

I wonder if it has the similar mods like the '12 GT86. See Pic below

It should, but not 4wd swappable like FM4. Been drifting the 86 for a while now. The tune should be directly transferrable.

Floggin Tires 09-25-2012 08:57 PM

Actually on PSN as of now.

Bristecom 09-25-2012 09:15 PM

I just spent some time comparing the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S with the exact same hp/torque and tires and settings. The Subaru BRZ does feel slightly more stable, especially on turn in. But I got the same times with both cars so one is not faster than the other because you can adapt to the slight differences in handling.

Josh B 09-25-2012 09:16 PM

The HSV is a badass car, very glad they added it to the game.

This thread is worthless without SCREENSHOTS!

Bristecom 09-25-2012 09:39 PM

Oh, and I also noticed you could hear the intake noise generator more with the BRZ.

Sorry, I don't know how to take screenshots on PS3...

SnapOv3st3r 09-25-2012 11:38 PM

Just downloaded all three cars in this DLC release. Now about to update.

Nitesh31 09-26-2012 12:33 AM

Damn I just got rid of the game

Smokinbuffalo 09-26-2012 02:18 AM

You have to pay a dollar for the DLC, but Sony makes you add at $5 to your wallet. So you pay and you get a BRZ coupon but you don't get to choose the color. If you want a different color, that'll be 30000 credits.
No DRLs, no spoiler.
