Interview with my local Toyota Dealer

2 Weeks ago, I went to my toyota dealer for asking some news on the 86, the seller repplied that they have a secret meeting at Paris around 8-9 september and adviced me to come back after that.

This is what I did today. He smiled when he saw me coming hehe

Me: Hello, so you went to Paris for your special secret meeting, right ? Do you have some news for me ?

Seller: Yes, I went to Paris last Friday, so I hadn't many news, but the FT 86 is coming out in June 2012 for sales. ( In France )

Me: Did you see something ? Pictures Videos ?

Seller: Yes, It was very difficult, cause at the beginning the President from Toyota France wouldn't let us to see the File regarding to the FT. At least we finally saw it, we must turn off our cell phone and every Video/photo accessories and they show to us some pictures of the Finally version.

Me: OMG ! So tell me, what does it look like ? Is it close to the Concept II design ? What was the colour painting you saw ?

Seller: We hadn't so many time to see it in details ( 3sec per pic), the only things I can tell you is that it was Red painting like a nice sport car, the best color that matches perfectly to the 86, the design is very very close to the concept II model. I don't remember exactly the face but there was nice foglights and the rear got Leds in the Taillights.

Me: Nice ! Any Engine Spec ?

Seller: No News at all

Me: The price range ?

Seller: Don't know but I'm not sure they will sell the cheapiest car, they want to do money, so they'll try to find the good compromise between Service / Performance.

Me: What version will we see at IAA Franckfurt ?

Seller: No Idea

Me: It seems it's Ultra Confidential...

Seller: Yes very hard to get some info they want to keep their baby safe, and they don't focus only on the FT, the new Yaris HSD ( for hybride ) is approching, the Avensis Mark II and the Prius + with new battery Lithium-Ion for better autonomy.

Me: Ok Thanks for the Interview for all the fan of 86 and for me.

Seller: No prob Sir, Come back when you want, bye

I'm personnally going at the IAA on Sunday to see it closely and asking questions to the person in charge of the FT, I'll give you the best Pictures and you'll get a nice vidéo in HD ;)

Sales men and Dealership people don't know JACK about vehicles NOT in production yet or not been announced yet.

Suppliers... yes, they would know.
North America Sales Executives and Market Execs... yes they would know.

Sales men and Dealership Managers.... no, until about 1-2 months before car is ready for sale... these guys answer to the District Managers who then answers to Sales Execs.... who KNOW....

But even at this point, Sales Execs/Marketing Execs, only know the bare minimum, until the product brochure is released to them for them to circulate, which is about 3-4 months before release....

Leaks are dangerous in the Automotive industry so a shabby Dealership Manager who can easily quit or change jobs immediately will not have information this far off from release.

He talk crap.

You have to be careful of the words and phrases to avoid these kinds of things. And thanks for trying to expose their secret bits at all cost.

You're probably right. :iono: The dealer is the last place I would check for info based solely on the fact that they only sell cars not build or design cars They're not required to know 2 cents about them.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Chibi86 09-14-2011 09:47 AM

Everybody take this like they want, it's just an info, you can believe or not.

And sorry for the "wrong word " used, I'm just traducting to english with the word that match the best, not my fault if it's understood in another meaning... Thanks

I didn't mean to sound like I was reprimanding you or anything, we're only joking with you. It wasn't the wrong word or anything like that, it was the way you used it that made a couple people chuckle. And you would have to really be trying very hard to avoid that here ;).

And :thanks: for sharing.

Chibi86 09-14-2011 03:42 PM

Ok No prob then, internet isn't really simple to know about everybody reaction, this is because I use smiley all the time I think xD

Anyway, Can't wait till Sunday, I'll put my TRD Shirt on with " TS " ( as Toyota Sport ) badge on the front and try to act like I am someone from Toyota France Departement... ^.^
