We do sell Motul, but my intent was not to sell with this thread. I am seriously excited for an oil change. LOL.

That being said PM me and ill hook you guys up with pricing for this, the 8100, and OEM filters.

I got mine from No Limit, best price i found on the Motul can't wait to do mine tomorrow.

Not doing the K&N filter? Any reason why or why not?

gmookher 09-20-2012 05:01 AM

Just curious why is motul considered such a good oil? Seems like it is just from viewing this post. How does it fare vs AMSOIL and all the other leading brands

No Limit Motorsport 09-20-2012 02:27 PM

I just put this package together

Is the 300v overkill for street use? I thought it would be much more expensive but for $10 more i may get it next time around.

I've been doing some research on oil after doing my first oil change a couple of days ago. First of all, 0-20w is like water! It's so thin... Also, after only having 1500 miles on my first oil change I was shocked at how dark the oil was. It looked like oil after 7k miles on an older engine (are you seeing the same?). It wasn't the nice golden brown I was use to.

I then checked around and it seems the FA20 doesn't use some special break-in oil and it's just regular subaru synthetic. That makes me even more confused... Lots of Subie folks like the Rotella brand also (cheap at Walmart)

So what that said, I'm highly considering going with at least 5-20w or 5-30w for some added protection even at the expense of some mpg and some hp.

Thoughts anyone?

It won't add any protection. It won't really hurt anything either except maybe mileage a tiny bit.

There use to be a photo on this thread that showed some badly worn journals from 5000 hard miles. Just makes you wonder...

Yea it isn't that much more money for these cars since you need almost 6 liters, and it is packaged in 2 liter containers, it was designed to be a racing oil, not that it can't be used on the street, but, it will probably break down faster than the 8100. They are both Ester based.

Next time lets put you into the 300V.

I'm using the 0w-30 8100 x-lite. I figured it would last a little longer in the car than the 300v.

Sounds good i normally change every 4k even on synthetics because i make lots of short trips to and from work. I need to get remote start for the winter so i can let it warm up.
