FRS coming with TRD exhaust??

I dont know if this has been discussed but was looking on the scion facebook page and seen the post.

The Scion FR-S comes tuned for performance straight from the factory, but its first set of TRD parts will soon be on the way! Starting September 28th, you’ll be able to get a race-tested TRD performance exhaust dealer-installed on your FR-S. Crafted entirely from stainless steel, the exhaust produces a deep, resonant note to enhance your car’s presence. Parts only MSRP is $1059.00.

Damn stealerships!

Tansey86 09-19-2012 05:04 PM

Scion is trolling us.

Yruyur 09-19-2012 05:06 PM

I liked the sound of the trd exhaust at the first drive event. Just enough sound and not ricey.

Now how about they give us the exhaust for free for having to deal with the cel issue :D

Edit: wait, I suppose I am wrong. Told it is a Cat back.
You would be correct

JoeBoxer 09-19-2012 06:13 PM

Most axlebacks hook up at the flange on the driver side, the pipe on this looks to be in the middle so i would say its a cat back.

CharlieChaos 09-19-2012 09:00 PM

if its a cat back I think I might be demanding this for compensation for my CEL light

JoeBoxer 09-19-2012 09:18 PM

Why would you get compensation for a CEL?

mike2100 09-19-2012 09:57 PM

$1000 for a catback, hope it sounds good!

I also spy with my little eye what appears to be TRD springs and a TRD rear sway bar.

speedy racer 09-19-2012 10:57 PM

Yea, I with you guys on TRD exhaust for compensation with CEL SL issues.

Considering that Apex'i and HKS both sell axle backs for over a grand, this doesn't sound too unreasonable...

...at least in perspective.

I think a grand for a cat-back is bat-shit fucking crazy when custom systems can be had for less than $500.

It is difficult to pay over $1,000 for a catback, but most of the time you get what you pay for....especially if it is titanium :)

I'm pretty certain this is an axleback. If you look at the stock exhaust it has the exact same setup. But I could be wrong.

what? no it doesn't. the stock axleback hooks up on the driver side by the rear wheel. this one hooks up dead center.

Huh. I guess I was looking a the TRD exhaust thinking it was the stock. My bad. Thanks for correcting me.

GenkiElite 09-20-2012 08:19 PM

Damn that TRD tax hurts!

FantomRider 09-20-2012 08:29 PM

I like the sound but not for $1k. Great for people who like OEM.
