I feel like I can get past the potential CEL problems and it gave me a big sigh of relief. Anyone hit 10,000 miles on their FR-S/BR-Z yet? I bought mine on May 27th, so three and half months isn't too bad :)

mashal 09-18-2012 11:24 PM

Damn son you drive that thing non stop, I'm at 5000km in 6 weeks so I guess not too far behind you!

About 3 and half months like I stated in the original post ;)

Texas BRZ 09-18-2012 11:30 PM

Nice...

I picked mine up on July 19th (if I'm not mistaken), and just passed the 4k mile mark early this morning. I think it'll be a while until I approach 10k. :)

DaJo 09-18-2012 11:31 PM

Have you encountered any of the CEL symptoms yet?
Ex. Idle dip, engine shake (about to stall), etc...

Nope, still running strong, no idle dips, engine shake, check engine light, or anything. It has been solid past 10000 miles. My vin is x0283, and even though I wasn't one of the first 86's, I received one the very early production models.

sa1126 09-18-2012 11:36 PM

Wow...I passed 2k today and thought I was driving a lot. No cel but I have chirping and strange idle though sometimes.

Just hit 3500 today and also bought June 10th.

I have a <2 mile commute to work, only have as many miles as I do because I drove 480 the day I bought it and ~1200 this past weekend....

Blue86 09-18-2012 11:41 PM

I'm at about 1400miles and I got mine on the 13th of July

I commute 100 miles daily so 600 plus miles a week. I'm now driving my Honda to work so the miles will slow down

Yruyur 09-18-2012 11:54 PM

Will be hitting 10k in the next day or two. Got the car June 24th. Glad I got the cel out of the way at 5700.

W2 09-19-2012 12:01 AM

June 29th and a hair under 6000 miles. It is just too much fun to drive, I find myself going driving for no reason a lot.

Thank you for posting the ORIGINAL of that scene. Not any of the failure remakes.

Sigh-on-Rice 09-19-2012 01:16 AM

Wow! You're so lucky you got no chirping noise. You didn't even get tail light condensation and rear deck popping noise either? So problem free and so lucky!!! :)

Okay, i do get these minor issues if you really call them issues, but they don't really bother me at all especially if they are considered somewhat normal by Toyota ;)

I thought the techno version was kind of funny.

That is a mighty feat you did with your BRZ. Maybe just maybe you are the first with the BR-Z to hit 10,000 and I am the first with an FR-S to hit it (thats what she said)...

TRD_86 09-19-2012 01:55 AM

I'm near 10,000 miles. Car is running so good. Long live 86 :)

Wait, the condensation in the tail lights is normal? It doesn't look like it will do any hard and I'm afraid if I ask the dealership to swap them out, they would do more harm than good.

As for the chirping noise - is it really a non-issue? and the only way to eliminate it is to use non-ethanol fuel?

Draco-REX 09-19-2012 10:16 AM

Chirping noise is normal. Other GDI cars have the same noise. It may not be desirable, but there's nothing wrong with it.

The tapping noise is an issue, but easily fixed now that the fix has been discovered.

Tail light condensation is due to cracked housings. They should be replaced under warranty.

I think Subaru/Toyota actually has determined that the first XXXX amount of cars that came off the line had this issue. I got both of mine replaced under warranty.

civicdrivr 09-19-2012 02:30 PM

I hit this on the 4 month anniversary, just as I turned onto my block on the way home from work:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/ed1cd165.jpg

That was on Sunday. Im around 12,3xx now.

Tigranakert 09-19-2012 03:44 PM

Wow mine's been almost a month and I barely have 477 milesXD. You guys are like 2 years ahead of me.

jesperswe 09-19-2012 04:48 PM

2,44$ for 1litre (about 0.26 US Gallons) of 98Octane here in Sweden atm :o

I paid $3.86/gall for 93 octane two days ago, but its going up. I've spent $1,603.18 on gas thus far. Thats $0.13 a mile.

Griffdawg 09-19-2012 09:13 PM

July 9th, i bought mine and I am at 3,800. But my wife got tired of being in the passenger seat so she made me buy her a new 2012 Chevy Malibu for comfort. I probably wont get to drive my car much anymore since we go every where together. Good for me because I was wanting to put it in storage anyway with low miles and preserve it and use it for my retirement fund, lol.

totally 09-20-2012 12:32 AM

Got mine three weeks ago and am at 3700 miles. Had CEL issues from about 700-1300 miles. Hope they're gone for good.

jflogerzi 09-20-2012 12:59 AM

you guys are nuts! I just cracked 4K and I had my car snice May 29th!

At 13 and change.

totally 12-27-2012 02:44 PM

I've had mine for about four months now and crested 11000 this week. Had some CEL problems between 500 and 1500, and another around 3500, but no problems since then.

The dealer had applied one of the recommended fixes for the problem, I forget which one, when I purchased it.

thebear21 12-27-2012 02:49 PM

screw you guys! gas is $4.08 in hawaii at best!
