Has anyone bought another car as a result of the change in delivery

Had a 86 GTS pushed back from August delivery to December. Unfortunately couldn't wait the extra months. I ended up buying a brand new WRX.

Toddo 09-17-2012 08:39 AM

Have a GTS on order, have no idea when it will be delivered, no one seems to be able to give me an answer, may be May 2013. Looking at the new Focus ST, how ever I am told there will be a tricale of them until 2013, so that may just be as long to wait, may look at a WRX or a VW GTI. Not sure what to do yet

If your considering a vw gti wait for end of this year / next year where new make comes out, looks better bit quicker but wait 3-6 months for it.. I waited 4 months for mine 2 years ago..

However with that wait you may as well wait for the 86...
Depends on your need or want tho of a new vehicle at this time...
Just my view

@budakajana: Which dealer?

still waiting on my tracking status to change into something other than order received. =(

Bounce 09-17-2012 08:02 PM

Looked at some M3s, I hope the dealer isn't reading this but I found him very rude despite the prices being a lot better than private cars I've seen.

I told him I had cash, looking at cancelling my 86 order and he kinda just looked at me funny and asked me why I wanted a Toyota in the first place.... at that stage I thanked him for his time and left.

Took my Evo X last Friday. Love it. Ordered 86 GTS MT back in 08/06, don't wanna take TMCA BS anymore so walk out....

70NYD 09-18-2012 12:07 AM

i think TMCA needs to do some SECRET SHOPPERS work to deal with the rudness of some of the dealers.. the way i see it this car is going to sell, so SOME of the dealers jsut dont give a shit..
i didnt cancel my order, i didnt even make one after reading a few things here (and a few other things wrt the fit and finish of the car i have seen 1st hand) so i kept my rx8 :D

Surok 09-18-2012 01:02 AM

im going to preorder a TRD or STI car for whenever that comes out.

You better go in the dealership and place your deposit for it now or you won't get it in 2015

If you really want an 86 you can find GT's all over the place. Just cant be picky with colour

GaN-MaN 09-18-2012 05:04 AM

The Club Spec WRX's are quite nice. ;)

actually i didnt place an order for the same reason, and if i ever do i'll go the subie online route, and all i've ever owned are toyota's: corollas, celicas and now my MkII, my parents have a kluger and a HiLux, my bro has a HiAce, and my grandfather has a camry, thats a toyota family through and through and im going to go subaru, good work toyota your now turning long time LOYAL customers away because of the way you are treating this car

This is pretty good value for money.

I couldn't bring myself to purchase a current WRX with the new model release just around the corner. That's a massive depreciation hit just waiting to happen

Cancelled my 86 order that I placed back in June because of the delivery issue (and "the you know what" issue), and subsequently got a Shiro White May 2012 build 370Z Coupe in quicksmart time (under a week from signing contract to delivery).

It's been almost a month now and loving it! The engine's just loosened up and pushing me to push it even harderrrrr!!

Interestingly I have been told that if I were to order a new one from Japan it would take SIX months to get it!

First order: Red GTS Manual ordered in July, probably over 12 months away.
Other car: Red GTS Manual, cancelled order, confirmed October production.
Current lease car due to be returned by December = I'm happy with that.

This is not good value for money. You can pick this car up like half the price it's selling for overseas. All the mark up is import taxes and our "limited" market demand. A RenaultSport Megane RS265 is a much more refined and better value for money car that doesn't have a cheap plastic interior. One thing the WRX does have is a super quick 0-100 time of 5.3 seconds.

I was comparing the Club Spec vs the standard. Comparing AUS pricing versus international pricing is not relevant. I had a budget of $65k and in terms of bang for buck (performance and styling) a WRX was my choice. I think it would be in most people's top 5.

I think the Renault Hatch is one of the ugliest cars on the road. Sedan WRX for me is a lot better looking. If I was hair styler I might think otherwise.

i changed my 86 GTS White MT ordered 20/6/2012 for a GTS Black AT that was available within a week of when i called (I picked it up in August).

My Mate swapped a Black GTS MT he ordered for a White GT MT (He had a 2 week wait and got it mid August).
