Tint Compilation Thread

Not sure if there's already one floating around. I looked but didn;t see anything.

Anyhow, I was thinking a thread specific to tint on any color of the twins might be a nice one-stop-shop for those of us still deciding.

So, please post a pic of your tinted car, with brand and percent of tint. Adding in name of tint shop and price would be cool, but not sure if that's allowed under forum rules.

Tint Brand:
Tint %:
Shop Name:
Cost:

I'll start, although my car isn't tinted yet, and I'll edit this with an update once it is.

Why?

Ravenlokk 09-18-2012 01:00 AM

Because the dimpling around the edge prevents tint from adhering properly, and the opaque stuff around the perimeter of the glass doesnt match tint. Im not sure if theres a reason why the glass is like that, but when i saw it i figured i wouldnt be tinting. Originally i wanted to do 5% blackout on raven on all 7 pieces of glass

diirk 09-18-2012 10:32 AM

From the tint I've seen, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't your tint guy cut right up to the edge of the dimpling, so it isn't actually covering that darker edge or did he actually cover that area as well?

You're allowed to tint your front windshield? or are you just hoping you don't get pulled over?

Pretty sure he's talking about the front windows and the sides are the rear quarter windows. 20% tint on the windshield and you might as well be wearing a welding mask while driving.

CNK is correct. Sorry about the confusion. My windshield is NOT tinted. When I said 20% front, I meant 20% front sides. I'll fix my original post.

Any chance you could take a pic of your car in the daylight and at different angles? Trying to decide if I want to get this tint in 30% all around when I have Lee do my clearbra.

cnk 09-22-2012 06:04 PM

Will try to get some tomorrow as I'm not home today. Lee does great work. I had Xpel Ultimate put on the entire hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, headlights, fog lights, door cups, and rear bumper applique. Spent 10 hours getting everything done and it was well worth it.

Thanks!

Yeah I'm getting the same thing along with a pillars and roof. Scheduled for next Sunday.

Chee-Hu 09-23-2012 01:55 AM

Question for all the CA folks. How are you able get away with getting the front windows done?

Damn, that sucks. I'm usually going to and from South Bay to Pt. Loma. Usually just drive the limit. I don't want to draw any unnecessary attention to myself. This car draws attention anyway. No need to up the ante.

Gen 09-23-2012 01:46 PM

I've been driving with tinted windows for 10 years. I've just made a habit of rolling down the windows before a cop can see them.

Sucks to hear :(

I've only been hassled once about my tint to which I replied "What tint? I don't see any tint."

I was in a private parking lot owned by my better half's father, so there wasn't much the cop could do about it.
